We love the setting of Costerra. Last night the food was excellent and our server Kyle was outstanding; attentive, friendly and professional. We were very comfortable being right on the water even though it was a bit of a chilly night. Overall a great experience.
Great food and beautiful view.
Try the caesar salad with salmon
we had the best seat in the house-what a great first time for me.Llove this place
Beautiful venue. Very stylistic and modern. Stunning views. However, the reception was indifferent, server just doing her job. At least half of the reason for dining out is the whole experience of which the staff is a MAJOR part. To feel that from the person greeting you at the entrance to your server who takes your order could not care less. Why bother. Go down the road to Tom Ham's for a wonderful dinner.
Beautiful Tuesday afternoon in San Diego. A little overcast so we sat inside until they put a wind guard on the patio which made it perfect . Nice ambiance, not too loud, staff was friendly and helpful. Had all of the recommendations from our server Tim! Complimentary Chips and Salsa paired with the El Jefe Margarita (on the spicy-ish side ), my friend had the coconut margarita which is on the sweeter side and also one of the most popular margaritas they serve. For a light lunch I ordered the - “San Diego style tacos” the seasonal catch was sword fish - it came in 2, plus a small serving of rice and beans -it was the perfect amount of food for me, and very tasty! My friend had the enchiladas which she liked , but didn’t finish because it was a bigger serving. For dessert we shared the banana ice cream with pound cake (can’t remember the actual name) -it was good, just a tad too sweet for my flavor profile. All in all it was a lovely meal and a great spot if you want to be on the water -Very “San Diego”!! I will be coming back !
Food was just ok. Loved the paella. Service was bad. Didn’t care about giving us dessert menus, water after dinner or doing anything for a birthday. Horrible server. View was nice.
The cevice was mediocre but my friend really liked the enchildas.
This is one of the best restaurants in SD. The view is second to non on the water. Great food and great service to boot.
Awesome experience every single time we visit Coasterra. Ambiance never disappoints!
I took my coworker to Coasterra for lunch - it was their first visit. Our server Jackie was friendly, helpful, and efficient. The food was really good, and my coworker really enjoyed the entire experience. We started with calamari and margaritas - both really good. My coworker had the Tenderbelly Carnitas Quesadilla, I had the Ahi Tuna Tostada. We both really enjoyed our food. It’s always a pleasure to dine at a Cohn Group restaurant, and this meal at Coasterra didn’t disappoint.
What an amazing experience! The margaritas were excellent. We each got a different one and we were all well satisfied with our choices. El jefe was spicy and delicious. I had the rainbow trout for dinner and it tasted as well as it was presented. Finally, thanks to the waiter for taking a beautiful photo of my family. All around great experience.
It’s was a wonderful evening!!!
Service took a while and food was cold when served. Took food home to go after the long wait on drinks and food and didn’t reheat well. Not worth another chance for the price.
Drinks and Soup the perfect late afternoon lunch!
Exceptional service! Food was delicious and can’t beat the view!
First visit for everyone in our group to celebrate two birthdays. The restaurant is beautiful and comfortable for being such a big space. The view from the outside deck of the city is spectacular. Service was on point from the host to the server and busser, everyone was welcoming, friendly and so accommodating. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and have some great recommendations. All of the food was delicious: masa calamari appetizer, macho salad, salmon and ahi tuna salad. They gave is a couple of the flans for dessert and they were also wonderful. The cocktails, while tasty, seemed weak with no taste of the alcohol. A request for a virgin cocktail was readily accommodated. It was a nearly perfect experience and will absolutely return when we come back to San Diego and absolutely recommend to anyone.
As always beautiful views, lovely service and great food (swordfish tacos and panna cotta for dessert - delish)
Coasterra is always a great time! Great food, great service, great location!
My family which includes my husband and two sons enjoyed a lovely Sunday evening dining on the patio during restaurant week. We hadn’t dined seeing this perspective of downtown yet. The food was tasty! We had fun trying new things. The mojito and margaritas were on point. The chips and salsa service was prompt and every basket of chips was warm. Yum! The waiters were very attentive and communicative. I would say that they even beat out the service at the Fairmont for sincerity. It was really special how one waiter went out of his way to tell my 8 year old that he liked his Michael Jackson jacket.
Everything was wonderful. The food to the service and spectacular view.
First-time visitors. The server was personable & prompt. Made valid suggestions about our orders. Food was superb in taste & presentation. Got a noontime table next to the water. Great view, but the sun got hot on us a bit later. Walked around later & discovered there may be no bad views in the place. Inside air-conditioned.
The food was very good, it had great flavor. The view was a must see, right on the water.
Great view of the bay and fabulous food. Well prepared, creative, delicious choices for appetizers and main courses. You won't go away hungry. Make your reservation well in advance; this place is popular.
The location is great, the first time I went here the food was amazing. The second time the food wasn't as good.
Great night time ocean views. Came for restaurant week, recommend the carne asada plate, ceviche, and coconut panda cotta
Excellent service and food and of course the beautiful skyline views.
Love Coasterra, sitting on the bay looking at beautiful San Diego, food delicious! Had a fig margarita that I would highly recommend "what the fig".
The Restaurant Week menu offered excellent choices – and we need vegan and gluten free options. Good was scrumptious and the service was friendly and professional. We love this place!
The food artfully magnificent and the service was gracious. The vibe on the patio, however, needs improvement: The bare concrete floors and raw metal roof structure feel very industrial. Also, the abrasive electronic music is anxiety inducing.
This was a surprise since C level's patio feels so much more appropriate for the view.
We don’t often take our kiddos out to a nice dinner, but Coasterra makes everything special and welcoming. An absolute favorite for us!
Great margaritas! Ceviche is so fresh! And you can’t ask for a better view!!
The food was terrific. Great flavors to each dish. The service was strange. Somehow our table of 4 got out of sync with the kitchen. Some of us got our hourderves (sp), while other’s didn’t and we had to ask what was going on. Then came the entrees. Complete mess. Our waiter was eager, but the meal was too long at 2 hours of mostly waiting.
Went for restaurant week to try this high priced Mexican food. The food and drinks were delicious.
Coasterra is our go to restaurant for special occasions. The restaurant is beautiful and the view is even better. But we go their because we love their vegan Cauliflower Al Pastor dish! We happened to go recently during restaurant week and they had vegan options for each of the 3 courses (though the salad course did require a modification to leave the cow's milk based cheese off.) Highly recommend for a nice night out.
Our main server and the female assistant that filled water and bussed the table were outstanding. Attentive courteous and sensitive to special requests without appearing to be put out. So appreciative of the great service we received that elevated to overall dining experience. Trout was fair, tortilla soup was good. Carne asada was very tasty and well prepared. So glad we chose coastera and we had a delightful evening
Ritas, Guacamole and Churros were delicious, everything else was moderately good. Glad we tried it as part of a pre fix menu as it would not have been worth the full price. The location and service is outstanding, wish the food would have been as wonderful. Perhaps a great place for happy hour.
Place with a great view. Food is not really that good, don't have high expectations
Great food, gorgeous views and good friends made my experience here unforgettable! I'll be back for sure!
