At our restaurant we create and interpret the culinary ideas inspired from different cultures, products, and techniques. Our always evolving menu is a result of the interaction and interchange of different experiences.
An open kitchen, eclectic and without limitations.
Because cooking is our passion.
Historically cooking evolved through the interaction and exchange of cultures. Through this premise and advances in technology our project, Cocina Abierta, was born, designed for the sharing and development for our passion.

We came to Puerto Rico for our honeymoon and we ate st Cocina Abierta 3 days In a row. If we would have came here sooner we are both sure that we would have came here for our lunch and dinners for the entire stay. We loved it . The food is healthy and delicious and the service was awesome. Two minute walk from our hotel .
Excellent service and delicious food!!! A must visit.
Great food please bring back you risotto dish and lamb sausage stuffed calamari
Great food and excellent service!
Fish and salad too salty and had to return plate.
Appetizers were not good.
An extremely disappointing experience. The menu was inventive, however not evenly executed for the three dishes we did have. The octopus causa was completely overpowered by the olives. We cancelled our entrees and left after being subjected to a 3-4 year old’s high pitched screaming literally at the top of her lungs for 45 minutes and running around the restaurant in circles and including up to our table and slapping her hands on our table top - with absolutely no intervention from her parents or restaurant management. Our special evening was ruined. As we walked out the manager ran after us trying to then apologize - way too little way too late. They didn’t even comp us a single glass of wine for enduring this nonsense. Would never go back. Shame that such a promising menu turned out to be a complete bust.
We had a wonderful brunch at Cocina Abeirta! The food was delicious and the place is very cute inside. They also have an outdoor patio area that looks really nice. Our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable! We had the croque madame, crab cake benedicts, and vanilla bean pancakes. All were beautiful and very good dishes!!
Service was what ruined the evening. Dishes came out at different times for a party of 8. Had to chase down the waiter for drinks and to pour wine. Dish portions are small for the prices.
We had a great time and the food was so good we went back 2 days later.
Green curry, lamb Wellington, mofongo, short rib empanadas, and chicken dish were all shared between us. The cocktails were great too and fun.
The appetizers were very good but the main dish which was a fish was bland and had some fishbones on it
Great food! Too loud for conversations.
One of the best meals we've ever had. Cocina Abierta changes its menu weekly, and the food is cooked to perfection. We asked our waitress for recommendations, and she hit it out of the park with every one we tried. The lamb wellington was one of the best entrees I've ever tasted. The restaurant is a must-try if you're in the San Juan area.
Bartenders were friendly and gave me great advice on what to order for dinner. Get the green curry, you’ll be glad you did?
great service. decent food.
would recommend deviating from the norm as far as possible when making your menu selections.
that's where i succeeded.
Food was interesting and very creative. Fresh and delicious. Our server Michele was nothing short of wonderful.
I went on a Sunday night, the service is excellent and the ambiance is very nice. Honestly I expected more about the food. I think some of the flavors were too overpowering and competing with one another. Sometimes less is more. I did love the roots though! Keep creating!
The food was amazing I would definitely recommend. I ate inside next to the kitchen area .. seeing all the plates pass by me and not knowing what to choose. Lucky that we had a great waitress that helped us choose everything to eat. I am definitely going back again....
Food was great and one dish a little salty and the smokiness if the brick oven was a lot. I love this restaurant and will continue to come here. The service was excellent and the drinks too.
Probably the best food/meal I have ever had. We went for my best friend's Bachelorette party dinner and we weren't sure what to get at first so we started just ordering a bunch of dishes for the table and literally every dish we got I think we ordered one or two more of the same thing because we couldn't get enough.
I think we tasted the full menu by the end of the meal and there was not a single non-delicious plate.
Bottom line, go to this restaurant. So so so good. : )
This restaurant came highly recommended and it did not disappoint! The food was wonderful and the portions were generous. The prices were a little high, but the delicious food was worth it. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely visit this restaurant again the next time I am in San Juan. We let them know it was our anniversary in advance, however, it wasn’t acknowledged. That would be my only complaint.
Excellent food - especially for those with an adventurous palate. Unique offering in a fun environment. Service was great. Would HIGHLY recommend it.
Great food great service!
The food is here is fantastic, good service as well.
Great experience, but a little noise.
Liked old menu much better than new menu. Bring it back or do specials with it
A casual yet trendy spot in the middle of Condado in San Juan. Their concept is farm to table using 90% local ingredients. Every single dish we ordered was phenomenal! We have been to many Michelin rated restaurants and we love casual as well. This is by far one of the most memorable dining experiences we have ever had. We will definitely be back. The cuisine and service was EXTRAORDINARY
Took some friends for their first time. They really enjoyed the place and said they are returning. It was my wife’s and I fourth time there. The service is great, they explain everything as many times as you ask and they do it with a smile everytime. Will be back soon.
I enjoyed the food & atmosphere...Highly recommend the restaurant to anyone with an open mind since there are no substitutions in the menu.
Amazing food, very unique flavor combinations. Service was so friendly! Really a unique and delicious experience. I will keep going back! Outstanding!
Amazing food & presentation! Our server Paula was kind & attentive! Amazing service! Highly recommend!!
I am a huge fan of Cocina Abierta. Our visit happened to be during restaurant week. We were not fond of the pre-fixe menu option so ordered from the menu. The salad with arugula and yellow beets is great. The octopus terrine had good flavor but was sadly over cooked. The duck had good flavor but was also over cooked. Our third guest had the filet mignon, which was cooked to perfection. Service was amazing.
We went to Cocina Abierta for my birthday and it certainly took us by surprise! Even though it had been recommended, we didn't have our stakes too high!!! The service was impeccable and food amazing! Very original, good small portions to share or to sample more than the standard 3 course dinner!! Prices were also very good and the price/quality ratio was excedeed! Decor is not my taste but it can easily be overlooked since the food is exquisite!!
Food was a little lack luster.
Cocina Abierta has a fun, casual vibe with top notch food. The cocktails are interesting as well as delicious. Croquetas are a must and the filet mignon entree was yummy. Although it is tapas style, the group shared a number of plates and then we each got an entree plate and did some sharing. The service was very good as well.
Very noisy. Chairs very uncomfortable. Food was great.
I had been once before for business and this time was for pleasure. It was the Friday of a long, Memorial Day weekend so very busy. We arrived about 10 minutes early and they were able to seat us without problem.
The food was fresh and tasty. The polpo was delicious as was the watermelon and tuna ceviche. The merguez-stuffed calamari sounded better than it tasted. It was rubbery and the filling was not tasty. We couldn’t finish it.
The night was busy and we wanted to order dessert but our server literally disappeared for 20 minutes and by the time she came back, the craving had passed. There seemed to be a issue with the tech/system. Our server can back and apologized. We were just happy to get the bill and get out.
All in all, it’s a lovely place w good food. They just need to work on the overall speed of service.
I had a special low carb request which they were able to accomodate. They make Celery Root Mofongo! I am impressed. Drinks are great. The best spot is the outside seating
Excellent food, service and location. You must go there.
