Food and service was amazing will definitely recommend Cocina Abierta to friends
Cocina Abierta is a must-do in Puerto Rico! We loved every dish we had!
This is my favorite restaurant locally. But my issue lately is that you leave the restaurant smelling like food. It didn’t happen before, but my last 4 visits I, quite honestly, need to go home and shower. So I can’t make plans for afterwards if my choice to have dinner is Cocina Abierta.
Been coming to Puerto Rico for 40 years. This is by far the best overall dining experience ever.
Our compliments to the chef, the servers, and the owners. If you only dine out once, do it here.
It was my birthday and the food was quite frankly tasteless and not good. I was very sorry becasuse the place and ambiance was very good.
The food was unique and fresh. Everything was excellent. The staff is top notch. A great find.
We had the most amazing brunch here! The menu has quite a range, with options for everyone. I have very specific dietary restrictions, and was very well accommodated. Cannot wait to return!
The food was great. At first the service was slow but improved. Highly recommend it for brunch.
We had a group of 8 flying into Puerto Rico and wanted to get together for dinner the night before we sailed. So glad we read up about this restaurant and were able to secure a reservation on open table. Our accommodations were perfect. The restaurant is lovely, the staff was friendly and efficient, drinks were good. Each couple shared appetizers ... everyone chose something different and all were excellent. The meals were wonderful. One guest raved about the salmon, I had the tenderloin dish which was delicious. My husband loved the New York strip. Another had catch of the day and loved it. One had the burger and said it was great. It was chilly in the restaurant when we arrived and our waitress immediately adjusted the air conditioner so we were all comfortable the entire evening. I highly recommend Cocina Abierta!
The appetizer and entree offerings are very unique and delicious. Cannot believe the pricing! Ridiculously inexpensive. Will return soon.
My wife and I were flying out of San Juan after a long weekend in Rincon and I wanted to end our trip on a high note with our bellies full. After some research I came across Cocina Abierto and it looked like it was right up our alley and it did not fall short of my expectations. The sweet plantain carpaccio is a MUST. It is sweet, salty and savory all at once. I would order two of these next time. The calamari is another must. The calamari is fried to perfection and prepared with an Asian influence with scallions and a teriyaki glaze. The salmon wellington is a unique spin on salmon and being salmon lovers we had to try it. Again, this dish met our expectations. Lastly we had the prawn bolognese and it was killer. Rather than go for dessert we opted for one more entree and we were/and still are happy with our decision. The wine list / beverage program was also of note. My only complaint was that the ambiance is a bit cold / uninviting when you initially walk in. It looks cozier as you go farther back into the restaurant though! Would definitely recommend Cocina Abierto to anyone stopping through San Juan or even to a local.
The waitress was super friendly. Everything on the menu seemed really good, some dishes seemed to be more of the same that you'd fine in any other restaurant BUT they had some kind of twist that made it different. We had the duck, NY Steak and the mofongo - DELICIOUS!!
For dessert we had lavender Creme brulee and the goat cheesecake - ALSO DELICIOUS
We will be back!
A great find. Went with my family.
We loved it all
We had the most amazing dinner, and tried a few of the recommended dishes. Everything was perfection, from presentation to taste. I have dietary restrictions, and the staff were knowledgeable and accommodating, which is huge for me! We will definitely be frequenting this lovely spot!
Cocina abierta: un restaurante con comida innovadora y a buen precio. Con gran ambientacion. Mi esposa y yo vamos constantemente a este restaurante ya que su comida es excelente.
Great place food was great lots of choices bartenders were good wait staff was attentive good restaurant
Group dinner the day after Valentine’s Day. Very good special menu and the service was great. Employees very willing to acommodate our request of changing tables and changing ingredients for one of our crustaceous allergic friend. Great cocktails!
Very good service, great tasting food at an excellent price. Croquetas de jamón serrano are out of this world. The lomo de res amazing.
Wrong dishes served 2 or 3 times.
Pre Fix menu plates were cold on arrival
No details on wine pairings
Whole meal and attention from wait staff was lack luster at best.
This is the third time I have dined there in the time I have been in Puerto Rico working. My wife was visiting and this was definitly the place I wanted to take her for Valentines Day. I was not disappointed.
IT WAS NOT MY FIRST TIME AT THE RESTAURANT, AND DEFINITELY I WILL BE BACK; BUT FOR THE FIRST TIME A RECEIVED AN ITEM OVERCOOKED AND VISIBLY BURNED. IT SURPRISED ME THAT NOT THE CHEF NOR THE WAITRESS NOTICE IT AND IT WAS SERVED.
Great small plates easy to share. Perfectly cooked and served.
We had a server who was very friendly until her third error and then she became difficult to find. We got the wrong drink twice. She told me the fish of the day was cod and it clearly wasn't.
Great food and ambiance!
I've eaten here twice. The second experience was less impressive than the first, but still very good. The service and ambiance is what makes this a repeat venue .
Excellent food. Service seemed to be split between two waitstaff so it was a bit awkward
Inventive, playful riff on local cuisine. Dishes had a well balances and interesting palate. Excellent in concept, execution, and presentation with a friendly and professional staff. Entirely unexpected, and a wonderful evening. Octopus and duck plates were standouts. Reminded me of Jaleo in DC if Jose Andreas was a young chef starting out.
The Sunday brunch was excellent. The choices were very interesting and great Value.
Great presentation and great staff.
Visited 2 times in 3 days
I can't gush enough over this restaurant. Nice, central location in Condado. The food was delicious, fresh and creatively prepared. The staff was kind with a great sense of humor - we just wanted to invite our server to sit and hang out with us. She was patient with our questions and dietary preferences. The Salmon Wellington, ceviche with watermelon, hamburger, risotto and filet mignon were all exceptionally prepared. Save a little room for dessert - the molten cake was heavenly. And I can't forget the cocktails. All were chilled and well balanced. Truly one of the best food experiences I've had in my travels.
The menu selections, service and pricing were outstanding and the food was delicious. A great place with indoor and outdoor seating. Highly recommend this restaurant if you have a chance to visit.
Service was great and everyone was attentive. Food was even better!
I love Cocina abierto. this was my third time there and the food, as always, was amazing, the only negative is that it is REALLY loud so its hard to have a good conversation; but the food and service are so good that this would never deter me from visiting or recommending it to someone else.
I request to change our napkins twice really bad odor. Our table were unsteady and the waiter service was not the best. Food and portion not what we expected.
The food is fun and creative, and the prices are good. We sat outside, which was very nice. Loved the borscht cocktail and the prawn Bolognese
We were staying in San Juan before a cruise and decided on this place 2 blocks from hotel after looking at the menu on line. It was one of my better picks! Considered going back there the second night we were in town. Probably should have. With my back issues, I did find the bench seat a little hard and uncomfortable.
Cocina Abierta has a unique menu, energetic ambiance, and excellent wine choices. The plating was very elegant. Definitely a tasting menu, mostly small plates. Went for a date and enjoyed the experience, not good for quiet conversation.
Good plates, nice drinks, service and atmosphere
We went to eat with my family (post Hurricane Maria), restaurant was great. We were a group of 10 and almost ordered every dish on the menu. Its great for sharing.
Normally have dinner here and Food is excellent. First time having brunch here. Food is very good but no pricing for kids, so we paid full adult price for 3 kids even though their dishes were completely paired back.
