At our restaurant we create and interpret the culinary ideas inspired from different cultures, products, and techniques. Our always evolving menu is a result of the interaction and interchange of different experiences.
An open kitchen, eclectic and without limitations.
Because cooking is our passion.
Historically cooking evolved through the interaction and exchange of cultures. Through this premise and advances in technology our project, Cocina Abierta, was born, designed for the sharing and development for our passion.
Cocina Abierta is a restaurant and school.
A fabulous, inventive meal. The food was fantastic but don't forget to save room for dessert.
Creative . VERY good value.
We loved this place so much last year that we came back again this year. The food is delicious but it is really how you share each course as the flavors shift from light and citrus to meaty and rustic that is the winner here. My partner and I savored each bite simultaneously- like having sex without touching. Nice cocktails and wine list, the server was super attentive and relaxed, and the hip industrial design added up to a 5 star experience. Also, people look sexy here - dress up a little!
Delicious food in a fun atmosphere. Managed the NYE crowd with attentive service
I paid over $1,000 at another restaurant down the street for Xmas dinner and this was far better and did not cost nearly as much.
Would 100% come back.
Excellent food and amazing atmosphere. This was definitely one of our favorite restaurants we visited during our trip to San Juan. Everything was delicious. Highly recommended!
We had an duck mofoto, octopus, a kale salad and rockfish. All very good. Outdoor seating was pleasant but there’s not much to see in this location.
I found the menu very confusing. They organized it in “Acts,” like a play. But there were 5 acts (not like a play). As explained, the acts were supposed to constitute a meal for an unclear number of people. Customers would choose one dish from each act to create the overall meal. Each dish was served separately, which I liked, with the intent that the table (we were two) could share. Like a tapia but bigger. Sort of as some entrees sound very large... LIke a pound of fish, or a 16 ounce steak. Others are small. I don’t have any idea how big a table it would take for it to make sense that you were choosing one item from each act. What we had was plenty. Perhaps it was designed for very glutinous tourists. Or perhaps might be that choosing differently would be less and create a right-sized meal.
I don’t think that the waiter was happy trying to explain the menu. My confusion over it it made him very frustrated in trying to explain it. Perhaps he gets confusion all night. Anyways, frustrating the waiter was a bit of a downer and perhaps influence me in feeling that the service was sub-par.
Superb food and great service. Highly recommended.
We absolutely loved our dinner at Cocina abierta. Our server was an expert and gave us a fantastic tour of both their food and delicious wine pairings. We chose to split most of the "acts" except the beef course. The lamb Wellington was beautifully done. Next time, we will definitely eat here every night!
Great Food and Service. All 4 dishes we had were outstanding!
I can’t say enough good things. Cocina abierta is my go to when I visit San Juan. The food is inventive, local, varied, flavorful. The service consistently warm and the right amount of attentive. I feel like a guest, rather than a customer. May their creative local cuisine thrive for years to come. My friend who is a local was impressed.
Cocina Abierta is a real foody place. Everything served is delicious, new and innovative. The restaurant really encourages sharing and the table and dishes support this concept.
The decor is cool, but it seems that little to no effort was made to reduce noise volume. Hence, the restaurant is unbearably loud.
Went to Cocina Abierta for dinner on a friend's recommendation. So glad we did. The menu was fantastic. So many unique options. Service was impeccable. Absolute gem of a restaurant. Will recommend to friends and hope to return on our next visit to San Juan!
Excellent restaurant. Food was outstanding. Service at bar was impeccable. Highly recommend
Blissfully average. Don’t get cute and fancy when you can just make good food.
Awesome place. A must when visiting Puerto Rico.
Awesome. Plain awesome
Unfortunately we were not terribly hungry when we stoped by. We only got to sample 3 dishes.
The Tuna Tatake appetizer was truly amazing. The mix of flavors had your taste buds screaming for more!!! For the main dish we had the Pekin Duck Monfongo and the Lamb Wellington. Both provided an interesting twist to the traditional dish version. All plates provided an optional 3 or 5 oz wine pairing. Overall they had a very extensive and very good wine menu. The inside of the restaurant was very pleasant and comfortable and well insulated. The restaurant has a nice patio seating but at the time we arrived (4:00 PM) there was a loud generator running. Looked to be from another buildings construction. Would love to come back and enjoy the patio seating much later in the evening.
The food was just excellent. Wonderful ambience. Great service. Highly recommended
Very nice menu - delicious ! The service was wonderful as well ! We will definitively go back !
Hi SoniaT, Thank you for choosing us, hope to hear from you again soon!
Fantastic food, well prepared, and beautiful to look at. We loved it so much, we went back again the following night to be able to try more things on the menu. The tuna tartar is not to be missed!
Amazing food, wine, and service! Can’t wait to come back
Tried the suckling pig croquettes, cebiche and Duck modongo. Unique dishes !
House margarita was amazing.
Can’t wait to return!
Just an awesome spot with great people and great food. Super creative and super delicious with a very knowledgeable staff. Awesome.
Portions small - tapas like but pricey ; not real value for money. Service was decent.
This is a hidden gem in Condado and a must visit if you are staying in the area. We especially loved the zucchini pakoras and the croquettes. Dessert was equally delicious.
Food is awesome but portions small and expensive... recommend going with friends/a group, as the menu is set out for sharing.
Everything was great!
We’ve dined here many times...for both lunch and dinner service. Always fabulous food and good service. But this time...it was truly EXCEPTIONAL. Not sure if we just ordered better? Maybe because we were there very early (right at noon as we were heading to the airport for a 2pm flight) so everything was super fresh? Whatever the reason, Concina Abierta, once again, delivers a truly outstanding meal.
Espectacular comida , combinación de sabores pasando de lo
Liviano hasta los platos
Más fuerte , ampliamente recomendable
Excellent experience with great service and food.
Pure luck we found this place, but it has been the highlight of the trip. Amazing high end Puerto Rican food. But not very expensive
I find the menú overstated and overpriced. It’s not bad, but lacks technique and balance for the level it wants to portray.
Innovative and delicious! Service was outstanding.
Thank you for sharing your experience, JRNYC!
Fish of the day was delicious ($42), but the chicken entree was rather plain and tasteless. The wine pairing was fine. We expected at least a slice of bread on the house with the meal, but you must pay for absolutely everything. Service was excellent as it should be at any high end restaurant.
Overall, the experience was underwhelming. We will try one the hundred restaurants in Condado and Viejo San Juan before we come back to Cocina.
The food was very good & staff was extremely helpful & friendly.
Excelente comida y servicio, la combinación de sabores excelentes
Our dishes ..the appetizers empanadas, the green curry seafood and the ginger chicken thighs entrees were very satisfying to the tastebuds. Very nice experience all the way around!
Hello Laurie, We're delighted your experience at Cocina was memorable. Hope to hear from you again soon!
My husband I went here for the last night of our Puerto Rico vacation. The bourbon drink and appetizer were outstanding. We then had the goat cheese ravioli and lobster thermadour. The ravioli was served room temperature and was very bland. The lobster entree was $75 and a very small portion. It was ok but not outstanding. Definitely not one of our better meals in Puerto Rico, especially when considering what we spent
