Historically cooking evolved through the interaction and exchange of cultures. Through this premise and advances in technology our project, Cocina Abierta, was born, designed for the sharing and development for our passion.

Food was delicious! There were plenty of choices to accommodate my dietary restrictions (gluten free). The grouper was so fresh, the preparation of the plantain very unique, and I need to re-create the kale salad at home!!
Amazing menu and my only regret is not being able to try more (though we did save room for dessert)! Service was exceptional - our server explained the courses and how everything worked and was very helpful in making suggestions.
Great food and service
The food was very, very good. We both had seafood dishes and each selection was local to the Caribbean and could not have been any fresher. Our waiter was very attentive. An excellent wine list. Outdoor dining is a little noisy due to a generator running nearby, but the cuisine and service are so good, you don’t notice the noise that much. We will definitely return.
This was one of the best restaurants I ate at in Puerto Rico. My husband and I had the croquettes and focaccia bread. The mushroom butter was amazing! The "roots" were also super good and so was the ricotta gnocchi. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
We ordered tuna tatake, octopus terrine and butternut squash. All were excellent, surpassed my expectations. Portions were generous and these three dishes filled us up. We decided to come to this restaurant at the last moment and we are glad that we made it. The restaurant is conveniently located pretty much across from Marriott and very popular despite it was Monday night. If you are looking for casual dining with creative cuisine, I highly recommend this restaurant.
One of the best restaurants anywhere, and certainly at the top in San Juan.

Everything about the dinning experience was amazing. The server, Óne, was amazing. He guided us through our dining experience very well. I was defiantly a night to remember.
Wait staff superb. knew how to time each plate. Knowledgeable regarding menu and ingredients.
The service was slow. We ordered a local fish, one service for 2 and the price was $50. Was not told about the price beforehand, which was too expensive
The brunch was excellent, we have been going to Cocina Abierta for years, and we love it! But they need to do something about the AC, it’s always warm inside, and they brunch area in the back too hot. The food is always great, and also the service, but the temperature is pretty annoying.
We arrived and I had been told that it would be a bar seating but it was 4 of us so I emphasized on making sure it was a shared table type not a bar seating towards the bartender.
Well, it was not what we requested. They sat us outside right next to a huge generator which was on because the next door establishment had no electricity. Terrible noise, and very, very hot.
Food was average, not memorable. I ordered the Rest Week offer for vegetarians, not good.
This used to be a very good restaurant, not sure what happened. Too sad!
Air conditioning problems does not help us to have the best experience. The space feels too hot & humid. Also the valet parking must be properly training, do not open any car door and was not aware that we intent to leave, I have to go to him to request my keys. If the Restaurant provide the valet with a cost the service of the employees shall be outstanding. But in my opinion the restaurant costs are high enough to offer the valet parking as a complementary service.
The best meal we’ve had in Puerto Rico! Outstanding flavor profiles, presentation and menu. We had a group of 7 and each ordered 2 dishes to share, and it was absolutely amazing.

Every bit of our experience was amazing!! Highly recommend the short rib empanadilla if its on the menu - also the ribeye was delish and the gnocchi was to due for!! Lastly, we had the bread pudding and the key lime and the key lime was the best hands down!!

An excellent place in San Juan.
Went with seven colleagues and order something from each act. Everything and I mean everything we ordered was delicious! It was on point! The waiter was super attentive and pleasant. I think this has been one of the best meals I’ve ever had! If ever in PR again, this would be a must stop for good eats!
I took a college friend to Cocina Abierta because I had had wonderful experiences before. She is a high executive at a large hotel chain and is responsible of bringing clientele to Puerto Rico. I made a reservation for two a day in advance. When we arrived, I was informed that the restaurant was booked and that there were only two tables available, one small table against a column which looked uncomfortable and the other with vista to the bathrooms. We were informed that we needed to leave at 8:00 pm because our chosen table was booked - we arrived a 6:30 pm. Our waitress was sweet but the table was very dark and the food was not up to par. The mushroom broth was tepid (part of the mofongo dish) and the vegetables that came with the prime rib were over cooked. I asked for a Cointreau as an after-dinner drink - a staple in any bar, and they were out. Disappointed with the food and overall treatment - especially for the price.
Are here with family. Expensive but worth it - food was delicious and service was excellent
Covina Abierta is a spot I’ve been longing to try. Wehen we booked our reservation Open Table asked if it was an occasion. We responded that it was our anniversary. Sadly that was the last of it. Why ask if there’s no follow up?
The service was great and the staff cordial and hospitable. The drinks were great.
The focaccia bread and spreads were delectable.
My husband was very pleased with his lamb Wellington but I was sadly underwhelmed with the ginger turmeric chicken. It was cooked beautifully but no noticeable taste of ginger at all.
We waited for thirty minutes and then my drink was incorrect. We waited for our our server to return with out check but she never did. The food was delicious but the dining experience was terrible.

We found this restaurant simply because it was close to our hotel and looked unique as we passed it. Once we saw the menu online, we knew we had to check it out. And it did not disappoint! The food was creative, beautiful and delicious! Narrowing down what to order, despite it being a sharing menu, was very difficult. We almost went back the next night to order more!
Author cuisine in the middle of Condado. The menu changes weekly and always surprises. Good wine selection and moderate prices. Totally recommended.
This was the best meal my wife and I had during our 5 day visit to Puerto Rico. We enjoyed a late lunch there on a rainy Saturday afternoon, and had the place virtually to ourselves (imagine that was due to the odd timing). Our fantastic waiter Fernando (hope I have his name right!), put us right at ease and walked us through the menu. Perhaps because it wasn't busy, it felt like he was a friend giving us a private luncheon in his own, personal, well-appointed dining room (it was my wife's birthday actually, adding to the experience). The food was world class, the prices reasonable, and the service -- again -- a delight. The tuna course was a highlight, as were the croquettes. Actually, everything was excellent, can't go wrong. If and when we visit the island again, this will be the first place we book for a meal. Couldn't recommend it more highly.
We have read several reviews of this place and were very excited to try it. The lamb Wellington was both tasty and perfectly cooked. The truck pork chop was juicy and Delicious. The wines by the glass list was creative. When the bill came we were pleasantly surprised as this is a value beyond compare to anything we had had in San Juan. Five stars.

Neighborhood restaurant with fresh food but not memorable.
Our party of eight had our table waiting and our waiter was excellent. Food was fabulous! We just asked our waiter to bring us what he thought was good and everything was excellent. We did have one person with dietary restrictions and they acomodated her. I would highly recommend to any visitors to Condado or San Juan.
Great food and ambience - book outside if available but inside is nice as well.
Checked in with no problems and was seated on the patio. After 10 minutes the server came over to answer any questions then left. 25 minutes went by no service no nothing. I wasn’t even poured a glass of water. I left without eating or drinking anything. This was a management failure. Guests expect at least a glass of water after they’ve been seated. Guests require communication if the restaurant is understaffed so that we may lower our expectations. The clock starts ticking when we sit down. If the restaurant isn’t interested in taking our money another one will be.
The food was delicious, and we enjoyed our table until the end, when a large party was seated nearby and we had to shout to be heard. The only drawback to the meal was all of the food arriving at once. It was impossible to fit everything on our table for four (and we ordered less than was recommended). In addition, the hot foods got cold quickly, which forced us to rush through the meal instead of talking to each other and enjoying the experience. Luckily, we ordered only one meat dish, so the steak, at least, could be enjoyed piping hot. I hope to come back, but not with a big group and not with a big appetite. Very fast service also added a sense of rushing to the meal.
What a lovely restaurant. They have such a friendly and accommodating staff. The food was delicious, and I took the server's recommendations, and I was so happy.
The first courses were served within 20 min of ordering but the main dishes took aprox 60 min to arrive and the steak oredered was rare instead of med-rare. When returned, it was sent back medium well. Initially, the server was efficient , but while waiting for main dishes, did not follow-up with the kitchen( we were seated next to it), neither did he apologize for the delay. Overall a dissapointment.
Hello Ivm29, I would like to apologize for your recent experience at Cocina Abierta. Definitely, this is not the type of service we consistently provide our guests and the way we want to be remembered. Unfortunately some times we make mistakes. I was not initially happy with where we were seated but our waiter Danny was thorough and helpful explaining the menu and wine selection. I had a fresh whole snapper. One side was well cooked the other under cooked. The kale salad and the mushroom croquettes were excellent though. My daughter had the seafood curry that was also really good. There's some interesting stuff on the menu like Peking duck mofongo. Over all I'd go there again
