Cocina Abierta Ratings and Reviews
I request to change our napkins twice really bad odor. Our table were unsteady and the waiter service was not the best. Food and portion not what we expected.
The food is fun and creative, and the prices are good. We sat outside, which was very nice. Loved the borscht cocktail and the prawn Bolognese
We were staying in San Juan before a cruise and decided on this place 2 blocks from hotel after looking at the menu on line. It was one of my better picks! Considered going back there the second night we were in town. Probably should have. With my back issues, I did find the bench seat a little hard and uncomfortable.
Cocina Abierta has a unique menu, energetic ambiance, and excellent wine choices. The plating was very elegant. Definitely a tasting menu, mostly small plates. Went for a date and enjoyed the experience, not good for quiet conversation.
Good plates, nice drinks, service and atmosphere
We went to eat with my family (post Hurricane Maria), restaurant was great. We were a group of 10 and almost ordered every dish on the menu. Its great for sharing.
Normally have dinner here and Food is excellent. First time having brunch here. Food is very good but no pricing for kids, so we paid full adult price for 3 kids even though their dishes were completely paired back.
Great cocktails. Great food. Great service. I would go again to try more things on the menu. Really nice selections!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Puerto Rico and in general. I love bringing my friends here because it's always an amazing dining experience and the service is top notch. However this past visit was a miss for us. The first course was great but the second course was dry and overcooked. The seafood Bouillabaisse was tough and chewy, the short rib was dry throughout and my duck was well done and had to be sent back because I like medium rare and I've had the dish before and I know how delicious it is. They kindly prepared another one and that was cooked perfectly. Over all we were a little disappointed with the last visit, but nonetheless we will be back and I still recommend this restaurant for a date, special occasion or just out for a nice meal.
Wow! Very imaginative flavours, excellently prepared and presented. Great wine list, and service. Highly recommended.
Very tasty and unique dishes. Like art almost.
Top selection. One of our favorites in San Juan. Superior food, flexible menu, high quality vs price ratio. Plates are meant for sharing, which I recommend doing. Had soup, cochinillo and chocolate pecan cake.
Absolutely amazing would totally recommend this restaurant
Best meal in San Juan. I’m a foodie from DC and lived in San Juan for a year. Tried all the places:marmelade, barrachino, etc. Nothing compares to this amazing place. Service is impeccable too
Really nice experience overall. Great, imaginative food.
Se come rico y la atencion es estubpenda. El aire estaba danado y nos sentaron frente al Open Kitchen per en general todo exquisito.
The food was wonderful and lived up to the reviews. Two issues which would keep us from going again were the volume of noise - it kept getting louder as the evening went on. People had to talk louder and louder to hear each other. Perhaps that works for some, but it's not conducive to conversation. Second - the wooden bench and hard chairs are uncomfortable and not really fitting for an upscale restaurant. Seem more designed to make you want to get out sooner so that the tables could be turned.
Best dining experience I've ever had! The food is of superior quality and the service was excellent. In fact, I returned the next day!
Amazing place. The service is great, but the food is amazing!!!
AMAZING food. So varied, price is more than resonable and you get to try so many things. Highly recommend it.
One of the best finds for foodies
Excellent service and good quality. Specialty cocktails combined with an excellent wine list.
The food was absolutely amazing! We had burrata, two kids of pork, tuna, salmon, scallops, beef Wellington, mofongo, and short rib (there were 5 of us). I would highly recommend everything! It was all so delicious and the service was amazing as well! Thank you Alberto!
Great food and service
This is an excellent restaurant. Delicious and inventive food. Great drink selection and very cool vibe. The service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommended!
This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. I am not someone that complains usually since I own a few restaurants in NYC. The food was decent but everything lacked. Service was literally worst than McDonald's in the Bronx. Farewell cocina abierta, very soon you will be cocina cerrada.
We love this restaurant. Gourmet food at a fraction of the price as what the top hotels would charge. Great selection of wines by the glass. We come here every time we are in town. Fun ordering 4 courses and tasting so many different dishes. Also nice it's very casual. Ambiance is trendy.
Everything was delicious, and the service was great. The restaurant was just a little bit too loud, but I can't tell if it was just because there was a boisterous group in the room or of it's always that way.
The food was creative and very good.. everything was spot on.. and unforgetable experience..
Whether you are at the family table with the LARGE lazy Susan on a table to 2 you will enjoy.
It is all so good. Share everything so you can taste more.
Love the wine paring options of a 3 ounce pour or a 6 ounce pour...
Very GOOD Espresso Martini
Hope they add a Chocolate Martini Option to the Menu soon.
This was truly a dining experience! They serve essentially an a la carte tasting menu, where you can choose plates for each "act". We ordered 6 dishes total and every single one was delicious and very creative! Our hands-down favorite was the salmon of the second act. Also highly recommend the braised short rib and duck confit mofongo. Even the dessert was great! Overall, it was a flavorful and tasty experience.
What a find! We were in San Juan for a one night layover and found this place on Open Table. The tapas was fresh and imaginative. We had 4 plates for two which was fine. We would come back again.
Very good food, good size menu with lots to choose...was very happy with each dish...and we had 5 of them
Very happy with our dining experience at Cocina Abierta! Sat outside to enjoy the beautiful weather. Service was excellent and food was very tasty and filling. Chose four menu options and it was more than enough but the food was so good it was hard not to finish each plate. The cocktails are very well made. If forced to choose, would pick Cocina Abierta over Marmalde but can't go wrong with either.
La comida riquísima atención exente
Excellent cuisine, lots of choices, kids even enjoyed It!
My husband and I went there on the last night of our mini-honeymoon and we loved it. The food was amazing, and Michelle, the server was great! Would definitely come back. :)
Amazing experience. Delicious food, awesome service!
