We made a reservation and the hostess seated us at the least desirable, highest traffic table in the entire restaurant. This was not conducive to the romantic dinner and show next door at Signature Theatre we had planned . We requested a move to a booth. She said "no, she needed the for a larger parties" in a not so friendly manner.
A manager just happened to be standing next to us so I called him over. He moved us to the booth we requested with a smile. We really appreciated this gesture.
Later I passed the hostess on my way to the restroom and she shot me a nasty look.
The food was delicious. The server was great.
Love the menu. I’ve never been disappointed in anything I’ve ordered. Service is terrific.
Very good food. Service was exceptionally attentive without being intrusive.
We went for the beer and the happy hour oysters! Both were exactly what we were looking for.
Had brunch and it was a brilliant experience. Brunch menu is a lot more interesting than many other places in the area and the food was outstanding. Great service. Absolutely recommended.
We love Copperwood Tavern! We come here at least every other week. The ambiance and all the servers we have ever had make us feel valued and offer the greatest service in the area. The food is always delicious as well as the drinks. Thank you for the best food and atmosphere to always enjoy brunch, lunch or dinner!
Great food and awesome, friendly service! Always have a good time here, and really appreciate that they were open for Thanksgiving dinner for those of us who didn't have time to cook.
Went here for Thanksgiving Day Dinner (though we just ordered the regular menu. Pork chop was still the best I have had after I first had it 2-3 years ago, and so big that I split it with my Mother in Law. Brussels and Asparagus were cooked perfectly. Service was excellent and very attentive. We will be returning more often!
Went for Thanksgiving knowing they had a special menu. They didn't disappoint. Just an excellent farm to table restaurant in Shirlington.
Made dinner reservations for Thanksgiving. Loved that they offered a Thanksgiving set meal as well as their regular menu. Pricing was very reasonable, especially the set Thanksgiving menu. Everything was absolutely delicious. Loved the atmosphere and the service was great. Can’t wait to go back!
We had 1 turkey dinner with pumpkin pie dessert, 1 ribeye, prosciutto wrapped figs, fried green tomatoes, and French onion soup. Corn bread and popcorn is complimentary.
Excellent service. Food preparation was stellar and fast. Because there is a large bar this tends to be a louder than usual venue. Nevertheless an excellent evening.
Delicious as always. I could make a meal of the sides -- they are that good -- especially the gouda mashed potatoes and amazing roasted brussels sprouts. Nice selection of excellent American wines.
It was my first time there, the food is good and reasonably priced. I love the popcorn they served
Great place!! Love the lively atmosphere! The staff was fast, friendly and excellent!! Food was amazing and full of flavor!
Great service. Love the atmosphere. Would really love to see more vegetarian and plant-based options on the menu.
Amazing as always!!!!!
Good Location and on this cool day we opted to dine inside. There is ample outdoor seating. The onion soup was delicious. Service was good and prompt. During covid we dine inside on a limited basis. We would have preferred the employees wear masks and seating spaced further apart.
So for us, it’s an outdoor seasonal restaurant.
Coffee is not great and was served barely warm. Food is just average. But it’s friendly service and a nice atmosphere.
great brunch...will come again before a show at Signature
The food was great. The service was exceptionally attentive. It wasn’t too loud or too crowded. Very nice experience.
Very poor management of reservation times: waited 40 mins for our table despite reservation for 6:30. The plus is that they did give us 2 appetizers and a glass of champagne to compensate for the wait. Still, it was a problem.
Delicious food every time we eat here! Tiffany, our server, was so upbeat and professional! She never missed a beat and was super helpful. Thank you Tiffany!
Appetizers, desserts, and seasonal drinks were fantastic!! The steak in the steak salad was extremely tough and unevenly cooked (one side was medium well, the other end was rare). It was busy so it took a while for the waiter to get to us, but service was good otherwise. Did not enjoy other waiters shouting about no one answering the phone. The atmosphere is really nice and doesn’t feel too intimate but is still cozy.
Food great as always! It was busy tonight but our server Hans was great! (It was his first night) and service was a little slower than usual but we had a great time!!
Taking in a show at Signature Theater then stop here for a bite to eat. The staff is simply wonderful and the menu had options for everyone in the group. Definitely someplace I would venture too again. Thank you. 😀
Wonderful, fresh salad options! Added a piece of salmon for protein. Friendly service. I’ll def be back!
We went to Copperwood Tavern for brunch. We had a very nice waiter who was in training. He took our drink orders and appetizers. Once our main food was ordered, it took about 45 minutes for the food to arrive. We had to ask one of the servers what was taking so long and she said the kitchen was backed up. It would have been nice if they gave us an update instead of us asking. To make up for the long wait, our server did give us two extra appetizers on the house. I got the short rib benedict, and the meat was very dry. One of my friends ordered the duck hash, which he did not finish. Overall the food was mediocre. I understand that they might have been short staffed but better communication with regards to our long wait time for the food would have been appreciated.
We normally go here for dinner (the Tomahawk steaks are fabulous). But this time it was for brunch. Nice waitress & great food. We split the lobster wraps & baked brie. Then I had the decadent Bananas Foster French toast. My chocoholic hubby loved his chocolate chunk pancakes. We also bought the BBQ rub they put on the endless popcorn. Good as stocking stuffers or to use at home on popcorn. We shall return!
This experience at Copperwood wasn’t as good as my previous visit 4 years ago. It took an hour and 20 minutes to receive food, and then the dishes had several issues. Salmon ordered medium was still raw inside. Had ordered medium instead of preferred medium rare, knowing they tend to undercook. When the server saw how raw it was, she was visibly surprised and offered to recook another or comp the plate. We couldn’t wait for another, so took the comp. But disappointing after waiting so long for food. The biscuits were overcooked, hard, and dry. The avocado on top of a warm omelette had been plopped on top directly out of a very cold refrigerator, literally making the eggs underneath very cold. Our waters were refilled a single time over the almost two hours we were there. We couldn’t even get a server’s attention to bring us more. Multiple medium and small things just added up to a disappointing meal. They can do better. I know from previous experience.
Great food!!!! (Banana foster French toast! And chocolate pancakes the size of your head. Oh my…yum!) Service was everything I could hope for. Clean. We’ve already booked for another meal here.
Their duck two-ways was most excellent as were their brussel sprouts! The wait staff was attentive and never made us feel like we'd over stayed our welcome despite continuing to talk for a long time post meal. Would recommend to anyone for Brunch or Dinner!
Food 3 of 5. Mussels were fresh and drinks were good. Service was great.
Our server was really nice and attentive when she was available even though we had to ask several times for waters to be refilled and for popcorn. Took a bit between ordering those things and receiving them (about 15-20 minutes). Thankfully food was out pretty quickly (20-25 minutes). Food was pretty good. Big fan of the pumpkin waffles and the spinach omelette.
Great service and excellent food! Especially love the dog-friendly patio!
The service was great and we even had someone who wasn’t our waitress ask us if we needed anything. We tipped well for this very reason.
Service was very friendly. Drinks were great--interesting blends and mixes! Food was very good, nice portions. Not out of price range of most contemporary American places in the area but I think many of them are overpriced to begin with.
I enjoyed my burger however I did ask for it medium well and it came back more like medium rare, but I ate it anyway! :)
We enjoyed our dinner at Copperwood. The inside is very spartan, so if you're looking for atmosphere, besides spartan, you won't find it here. But the wait staff are very friendly (if a bit slow) and the food is good.
Nice atmosphere with outdoor dining available. I had the ribeye steak, which was good but not great. My wife had French onion soup, which was amazing. Good beer selection also
Had a wonderful first date but it would of been even better if the music wasn’t so loud/deafening. We sat very close, next to one another so that we could hear what the other was saying.
