We chose Yao for our first visit to celebrate Mother’s Day, drawn in by its stunning decor and glowing online reviews. The ambiance did not disappoint—elegant and inviting, setting the stage for a special occasion. The hostess greeted us warmly, adding to the positive first impression.
The menu offered a delightful array of dishes and cocktails. Each item we tried was thoughtfully prepared and flavorful, justifying the slightly higher price point. We were content to pay for the quality and presentation delivered.
However, the service experience was less than ideal. Our server seemed rushed and inattentive, which was surprising given the celebratory nature of the day. There were extended periods when we didn’t see him, and interactions felt curt and impersonal. It’s possible the holiday led to understaffing, but it impacted our overall enjoyment.
Additionally, we noticed that an automatic gratuity was added to our party of four. While we understand this is standard in some establishments, it felt unexpected and may have contributed to the lackluster service we received.
In summary, Yao offers a beautiful setting and excellent cuisine, making it a place we’d consider visiting again. However, we’d hope for a more attentive service experience in the future.
