What an awesome experience! My boss gave me a gift card to bring my 2 grads (my youngest was also a birthday girl) out for dinner. The entire experience was excellent. The server was thorough in explaining specials and making recommendations. The appetizers were out quickly and were awesome. The server brought us complimentary nacho chips and well. We were already feeling full when our entrees came...and then Earl's gifted us complimentary dessert because of my 2 grads (one of whom was a birthday girl). We enjoyed the entire meal. It was a perfect summer evening on the lake and Shaunessy’s was fantastic on the patio! We had friends in from Edmonton and they were properly impressed with the food, incredible service and amazing ambience!!

I have been here many times over the years, so this review was difficult. First, the awesome: staff is always friendly, personable and knowledgeable, I do feel too often our glasses sat empty, but our server had several tables and we were in no rush. The pork belly & scallops appetizer was divine as was the charcuterie board with a nice sampling of local cheeses and such. Desert was fantastic as well. Now for the main event. We came specifically for the 55oz tomahawk. Its description sounded fantastic, and it was presented beautifully. Where the tomahawk goes sideways is that it came out lukewarm, at best. And perhaps that is the reason it had very little flavour. Perhaps that was the temperature it was cooked to, or perhaps it sat too long at the pass bar before being brought out. The sides were very nice but a little on the light side for such a meat forward meal for 4 people and I would suggest ordering an extra dish for 4 people. I was quite disappointed as I have heard such fantastic things about the Chef and as it is the “Chef’s Signature Dish,” expected more for a 180.00 plate. Would I order the Chef’s Signature again? No. Will I go back? Absolutely. This was a a great place and I am putting this down to a one off.

We always have great service at Matches. The 50% off alcohol until 530 makes it a best value restaurant. The food is pretty good!
