    Da Maurizio offers two private rooms. The first and largest room hosts up to 45 people and is completely closed off from the remainder of the restaurant by sliding frosted glass doors. This room has access to our outdoor patio for summer functions and has its own private washrooms. The second private room is secluded and hosts up to 25 people. It is a smaller and cozy room that is separated from the other diners by our bar area and a small flight of steps. Both rooms are perfect for business meetings, weddings, family celebrations and continuing education programs. Also, both rooms are suitable should you require audio/visual equipment for your event. Custom menus are available for both rooms.

    At this price point I like to walk away feeling wowed by both the food and experience. The food was good but not great. The service was top notch and professional however I don’t feel the experience was enough for me to want to return.

    The food was really delicious… a bit of a mix up with the salad . Our server seemed to be in attentive during the meal service, however another server picked up the slack. Overall an enjoyable experience!

    The food and atmosphere at da Maurizio are amazing and I will definitely return. If you go make sure to try the Carrot Fritters as they are worth the trip alone. Tanya and her team provide excellent value and high quality food. If you get Scott as your server you are in for an experience and education on the food and wine.

    Rec. by hotel staff. excellent mussels for appetizer. Entrees were good but not excellent. Martini made by waiter for his own table was very good, just as we like them….very cold

    Incredible food. Poor Ambiance. Lighting was the main issue. It felt like we were in a hotel lobby restaurant. No music, bright overhead lights, casual staff, under-dressed patrons. For example, The cutlery was placed directly on the table without linens...chairs were out of place at the table next to us...overall, a very casual environment for a deluxe, fine-dining restaurant. We dressed up to go out but most people were not - some even wearing shorts. It is possibly a function of a changing society but it seems as if the standards have dropped for fit and finish and that is disappointing. The food was delicious but a fine-dining experience is not only about great food. We might elect to go to a place with better, more romantic, atmosphere.

    da Mauricio has always been our go to restaurant for special occasions but we were disappointed on this occasion. The calamari was tough and presentation lacking. My wife’s seafood risotto was excellent and she enjoyed it. Unfortunately there was a mix up with my dinner and I was initially served the wrong dish. The problem was rectified but by then my wife was 3/4 through her dinner.

    Wanted to see how this traditional Italian restaurant stacked up against its local counterparts Their bread is excellent The salmon tartare salmon was over powered by the topping The meatball appetizer sauce was better than the meatballs flavour wise Perhaps use the fresh rosemary garnish as a herb instead of a garnish for the rack lamb

    I was dissatisfied with my experience at D’maurizio because they had set the bar so high in the past. They have clearly slipped over the years. The calamari used to be great but this time it was tough. The bread was dry. The crust on the dessert was tough. And the table we were seated in was next to a bussing station and I specifically asked for a window - so much for a quiet dinner. On the positive side, the service was friendly (although the kitchen wasn’t speedy) and the tenderloin was cooked perfectly.

    ate there last year and was totally disappointed with this restaurant. was glad to see that they seem to have gotten their act together again and have returned to their previous status as one of if not the best restaurant in downtown Halifax.

    Service was abysmally slow to the point of neglectful.waited 20 minutes to order drinks. Then 15 to order food.. drinks arrived with food... be patient or not too hungry. Food was well prepared

    Meal and service was great. At the end of the meal, a pipe from the ceiling leaked and I was covered with water while sitting at my table. The waiter was aware and didn’t offer any discount etc. It was a bad ending to what was otherwise a nice night.

    Delicious food,great service,loved being downstairs,enjoyed the spaciousness and quiet atmosphere .Will recommend and return especially with rack of lamb on menu….maybe sauté garlic shrimp will reappear on menu??!!

    Overall great, minor mishap during service, waiter John handled it fine! Food was great! Only complaint, ridiculous playlist for Italian Resto? Kinda loud, but 1980/90 rock music should be reserved for when last patrons are home ….. not a minute before! Could be a deal breaker for a “ fine dining” experience?

    On arrival we received a warm greeting, then seated immediately . Another greeting from Tanya and we were ready to start. Kelly knows us and he arranged cocktails in a timely fashion. From there we had appetizers, wine , mains and it was delicious. Thank you to all at da Maurizio for making another fine dining experience.
