At DaiLo, we believe eating well is a fundamental part of living well, and how we cook, reflects how we live. Thoughtful and high quality ingredients lead to better lives and more delicious meals. Our New Asian Cuisine is predominantly Chinese fare but it follows the French tradition. At the heart of the menu is a love and respect for the dishes Chef Nick Liu ate growing up as the son of Hakka parents in Canada, but importantly, they are the dishes his ancestors have been eating for hundreds of years. Ancient favourites are augmented by Liu’s signature flair and updated to suit the western palate and the modern demand for local and sustainable ingredients.

My wife and I visited DaiLo Sunday evening. Our server was informed, gracious, competent and attentive. We are not picky eaters but we are pescatarians. They offered a pescatarian menu but we went with the Chefs Tasting Menu and they tailored many of the regular dishes to exclude land animals in favor of our preference for only water based animals. We thoroughly enjoyed the Chefs Tasting Menu, if it had any issue it was that it was simply too much food. The menu is innovative and the execution is great.

Fantastic service, cocktails were interesting, beautifully boozy and balanced. Food came out in good time and was super flavorful. We loved our server/bartender Shannon.

We were celebrating an occasion and would definitely come back.

Another amazing experience at Dailo. The tasting menu is amazing. It’s a never ending stream of unique dishes. The space is so beautiful, highlighting the historic building it’s located in. Front of house was friendly and knowledgeable. Shout out to EJ in the kitchen for bringing out our amazing main course Trout he created!

Fantastic service, everyone was so friendly and attentive. We found lots of options for our vegan friend and some other friends had the chef's tasting menu which look AMAZING (they said it was amazing). I would most certainly go back again and bring friends.

Was turned away when I got to the restaurant. Apparently they called and I was supposed to confirm over the phone? I don't answer unknown numbers and didn't realize that my booking on open table wasn't secure. Ruined my night as I booked for my friend's birthday.

Delicious! Inventive food and good cocktails in a warm atmosphere. Great service.
Didn’t like sitting on stools at the high top table, but that was the only table available when I reserved. We all agreed we wouldn’t sit there again.

We’ve been twice and both times we’ve ordered the chef’s choice. This is excellent food and for the quality it is reasonably priced. One of our favourite restaurants in the city for sure.

Pork-shrimp dumplings were fantastic. Pork hock was just fine. Though tender, the hock’s flavour was a one-dimensional brown sugary sweeetness that not even the pickled daikon could save. But not all food is for everyone, so maybe it was just me.

The most entertaining part of the night was the server’s lack of composure. He didnt just fail to hide his annoyance that we were only in for a couple appetizers. He actively broadcast it. Since it was a 9pm on a sunday and the place was half-empty, we had a laugh at how misplaced his attitude was. We ordered, ate, paid, and left. But I get it...you want larger bills, not easy bills.

Both the food and the service was exceptional. We had 6 in our group and had the Dai Lo Choice. This is a multi-course meal and our waiter (Thomas) did a fantastic job of explaining each of the dishes and making this a memorable night for all of us.

This was our second visit to DaiLo.

We have had the Tasting Menu with each visit. Basically this means the chef decides the courses that we will receive. Our first visit was absolutely spectacular. We thoroughly enjoyed each of the dishes and this led us to make a second reservation to dine with some visiting friends. This second visit was very good but not up to the same spectacular claim of the first.

Along with each visit we had the wine pairing with the Tasting Menu. Peter, their sommelier made fantastic choices for us and we thoroughly enjoyed the wine with the food. On both visits, the service level has been top notch.

Would we go back for a third visit. You bet!

We went here for a slightly spur of the moment anniversary dinner and it was amazing. We decided to do the Chefs menu and I'm not sure how but it managed to be all of my favourite things - including rendang and sticky date pudding, which are very rare in Toronto. Will definitely be back again and again.

Our server, Clayton, was friendly, professional and managed our “crazy” conversations and questions as if he was our knowledgeable best friend. Service couldn’t have been better. The pre dinner cocktails were stellar. We tried several dishes on the menu and were blown away by all of them. Each was unique and well presented. Kudos to chef Dennis Tay and his team! We’re not from Toronto, but will be sure to go back to DaiLo when we’re there next.

Took 2 friends here for the first time and everyone loved it! They were having a special tasting menu this time to celebrate Chinese New Year which was a nice change to the original tasting menu. Would highly recommend to anyone who hasn't been before.

I give this restaurant a very high rating because it really is in a class by itself. Although nominally a Chinese restaurant, the food is not at all Classical Chinese, rather it is inventive, tinged by various Asian flavors, and quite different. I would go back in an instant (I'm not from Toronto) because everything on the menu looks interesting and different from what you'll find elsewhere. The portions are large, the service both attentive and personal. This is an interesting restaurant and a significant change from more traditional places. Definitely worth a visit.

Excellent front door staff. They offered several other tables as the table was in the back. Very helpful and kind to make changes.

Very elaborate and sophisticated dishes, a bit unexpected, but truly impressive. Good service, nice atmosphere. However, a bit too dark - it would be nice to have a bit more light, at least to read the menu. Very nice and clean washrooms, which is a treat in this part of town :) Overall - great place to be recommended and visited again!
