Fabulous restaurant. The food and service was amazing.
The food was good, things on the menu I never heard before like fried watermelon!
Not for kids.
Great meal. Attentive servers.
DaiLo has quickly become my favourite spots in the city. The food is incredible and cocktails creative. Here are my favourites: truffle fried rice, pumpkin dumplings, shrimp and pork dumplings, 90 day dry aged ribeye, Napa cabbage and of course THE BIG MAC BAO. Must try. Love the decor. Service is great.
This was my second visit this year. Had the Chefs menu both times and it's probably the only thing I would order because it is such an amazing experience. Think of it as a symphony orchestra for your taste buds
The tasting menu was delicious and all of the flavors were amazing. It was one of the greatest dining experiences we’ve ever been to!
We have been at the bar excellent service and the food was great. They suggested the menu and we really enjoyed!!!!!
One of my preferred spots in Toronto
Happy Valentine’s Day! This our umpteenth time going to Dai Lo for dinner, and I have to say it gets better just about every time we go.
Appetizers: Pumpkin Dumplings (absolutely the best appetizer for vegetarians, rich and sweet, garnished with truffle to give it an umami taste with the white rabbit candy glaze). If you’re feeling luxurious, get a bowl of sticky rice and pour on some of the glaze. Mercy.
Main: Fried Gigi Trout (a perfectly fried fish served with 3 dips; green curry, essentially Thai sauce and soy glaze)
delicious and more than enough for two.
Overall, one of the best places to eat delicious upscale Asian Fusion cuisine, or upscale food in general with the beautiful ambience to match. You won’t regret it! 🥂
Thoroughly disappointed from the moment we arrived. The hostess told us to wait outside in the cold because the restaurant wasn’t open until 5:30pm (then why created the first booking at 5:30 since people always arrived a few minutes before) I arrived there at 5:24pm.
The food was salty, especially the Sichuan Beef Gnocchi. The whole fried trout was covered with some sort of coating that looked like instant ramen noodles mixed spice.
After spending nearly $300, we left and went to La Carnita next door for real food.
Amazing food and service! Our server was very accommodating to my food intolerances and knowledgeable about the menu. The chef’s tasting menu was delicious!
Do not skip their appies and smaller plates! We opted for 3 appies and 2 mains between two, probably should have done just 1 main based on quantity, but Dailo's appies are so creative, they were the most unforgettable part of our meal. Special shoutouts to the burmese tofu. It blew us away.
First time going to DaiLo, it was a wonderful experience. The food is fabulous.
We didn’t like our table near the glass window. It was awkward place to sit. Other than, everything was great.
Great service, great meal!!
Every dish satisfied the need for taste texture and something special
Every single bite, a master piece. Have been many times. Always better than I expect.
We had the chef choice menu. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic.
Extremely delicious! Did the tasting menu
Food and service were outstanding. We will definitely be back!
Delicious food, creative cocktails and great service!
absolutely delicious food and cocktails! We had some pumpkin and brown butter dumplings that I'm still fantasizing about, 3 days later. Do yourself a favour and go with Dailo's Choice where the chef chooses your meal. Best bang for your buck and you get special items that aren't on the menu.
one word of warning: the stools for the bar and high tops are rather uncomfortable - I'd recommend going with a table.
The food was unreal. Good Good
The chef's menu is one of the best foodie experiences I have had in a very long time.
Excellent food & beautiful presentation.
I love the chef's tasting menu... gives you a chance to sample many wonderful flavors.
The tasting menu is high recommended for the first time people.
Dishes ranged from extremely good (fried watermelon, octopus jicama tacos) to "to die for" (pumpkin dumplings, truffle fried rice, whole trout).
The amount of food the waiter recommended us order for two people was probably a bit too much, but it was all so good that I didn't even care.
This is the nest restaurant in the city- full stop.
Amazing in every single way. Would recommend to anybody looking to experience food, ambiance like no other.
Food is so delicious. Dish explanations are a bit long but still worth it. So much efforts goes into them that it’s ok. Noise level is slightly high.
Fantastic service coupled with fantastic food. Staff couldn’t have been kinder or more efficient and enthusiastic and the taster menu is to die for. You get plenty to eat and it’s very reasonably priced for the amount and quality and ambiance.
We’ll be back!
foods were very unique and spectacular. Service was flawless. Loved interior too. Definitely come back.
Dinner here is a reminder of the wonder of the world. that a creative chef can take mother nature's ingredients and make something so startlingly delicious , surprising, complex, thrilling.... oh my, dining out does not get better than this!!!!
We had an excellent experience at DaiLo. Visited for my wife's birthday, and everything we top notch. Extremely creative dishes, and exceptional execution from the kitchen. Delicious, pan-Asian inspiration, with French finesse.
Service was uniformly strong, whether it was our attentive waiter, or the folks running dishes out and explaining what we were going to sample. Looked after ensuring we had a great celebration!
We've already recommended to like-minded friends, and look forward to returning.
Took my mom for her Birthday and she loved it. Fantastic food (except maybe the jellyfish slaw which was just ok)!!! Dumplings and tacos are always great apps! Great server who seemed really knowledgeable. Service was a bit slow but perhaps related to winter weather (short staffed perhaps??). I felt the time between courses could’ve been timed better. But overall - delicious!! And we will be back.
Ever since my colleagues raved about their last dining experience at DaiLo, I'd been looking forward to the day I too would get to experience eating there myself.
My friend and I finally booked a reservation for last Friday, the place was busy but not loud, vibe was nice and we were seated at the bar. The bar experience was great because we didn't have to chase down a server and our bartender was very attentive and knowledgeable. The daiquiri was surprisingly small and lackluster (for what you're paying) but the Monkey Shoulder based drink was 10/10.
As we wanted to get the most of this experience we both ordered the tasting menu. Here is my revue of each item we shared:
- Hakka Brown Wontons: tasty but really greasy
- Pumpkin Dumpling: Very very nice.
- Truffle Fried Rice: Nice but you quickly get overwhelmed by how much truffle oil is in this dish
- Big Mac bao (which they say is their "take" on the big Mac).... literally tasted like a big Mac. Only difference is that instead of bread you're getting it in a steamed bun, it's a bite-sized and is 10x more expensive than the real deal
- Octopus taco: very small portion and not memorable
- And finally the last and main dish: King Cole Smoke Duck. Presentation was superb (the other attendees at the bar ended up picking the same because we ordered it first). It was really good but it could also be because it took about 20mns after the last dish to come out and we were really hungry by then. Interesting flavour combinations between the (very fatty) duck, the jam and sweet potatoes... But again, not memorable at all.
For $65 per person + tip and tax, this was a pretty disappointing experience and I won't be recommending this place. Not sure if their quality control has gone down or if our expectations were too high but one thing's for sure, we won't be coming back.
Most amazing meal, service and ambience. This was a return experience and we will return again!
Great food sensational wine list!
Went with a couple of friends on a tip... was delicious!! Pumpkin dumplings and the cauliflower were out of this world yummy!!
Excellent food and creative menu. Nice dark interiors + small print menu make for squint-ful deciphering... bar upstairs has terrible service, but downstairs dinner waiter was super helpful. It is noisy and it is fun, yet the food compensates for all the other minor shortages. Try killer truffle dumplings and the to-die-for rib-eye.
the service was very good and staff seemed interested in our experience. the food was not subtly flavoured with too much sweetness and over use of truffle and truffle oil. the wine list was very good but the list of wine by the glass was limited. we enjoyed the shared dining approach, the varied menu and staff but the food experience relative to the cost was not great. i would only suggest this restaurant to people looking for a unique dining experience who value ambiance and vibe over food subtly or value, in other words going for trendy without a lot of refinement. one can get this experience for a lot less money at odd seoul or han moto.
given how booked this restaurant is however i would have to accept that my view is likely in the minority and thus there is likely no real incentive for them to change the menu.
on the positive side the desert was surprisingly good and we enjoyed the overall experience, even if the food was not the highlight.
hmm, 2000 characters seems a lot to expect from a review. i doubt that an average representative reviewer would necessarily write such a long review...........................................................................
