Dawett Fine Indian Cuisine
Told first thing to order quickly since kitchen would close at 9:15. No mention of thatbon website which says open till 10:00. We chose not to eat and left.
Lovely restaurant. Highly recommend. Clean, comfortable, helpful courteous staff.
As always we had a wonderful meal and great service
I have ate here on a few other visits and the food was fine.
This time however food was bad and service was worse. The calamari came out like warm, paneer was the same and the butter chicken was tough.
There was only one other table in the restaurant and we barely saw our waitress and when we did it felt like we were putting her out.
I will not be back due to the experience.
Awesome meal again at Dawett Fine Indian Cuisine. This isn't just the best Indian food in Kelowna, it's also one the best restaurants, regardless of cuisine.
If you haven't eaten here, you are missing out!
Have always loved Dawetts! Food is excellent every time and service is second to none without being ostentatious.
Nice change of pace from North American food. Stepping outside our comfort zone we tried the lamb combo and the chicken ( ginger curry cumin -heat level 3). We loved the spices in the chicken -not so much the lamb.
The Indian version of what constitutes a salad ( very basic) came as a surprise. The vegetable samosas were very good.
When we go again we will try something different on the menu just to stretch our taste buds.
Always excellent service and food here. We sat on the upstairs terrace and it was quiet and we had great weather, so why not? Just us up there until we were almost done our meal. The patio could use a little more charm, but the food and service is our main draw to this restaurant.
Food is very good, service was the worst I have ever experienced. Sat at the table for 20 minutes without water, let alone having someone come take my order
The Dishes Were Delicious..The Service Was Exceptional..The Indian Art Was Amazing..
A+ All Aroundxx
Love the food here and usually all is satisfactory. However, after our meal we were going to order after dinner drinks but our waitress was nowhere to be found. After approx 15 minutes, we asked another waitress is she could locate our waitress. Finally, our waitress appeared but by that time it was too late to order our drinks. So, we lost out and so did Dawett.
Great food! Price was good and the atmosphere was intimate.
Great food and pleasant atmosphere
Enjoyed New Year’s Eve dinner out st this great find. The food was great and the servers were knowledgeable and friendly. We were from out of town and really lucked out on this gem. Totally recommend.
We were a party of 11. Which is not easy on the wait staff and the kitchen. They all did a wonderful job. It was a fun evening
I picked this place for celiac friendly foods, and was very happy.
As always at this restaurant. The food was very good.
Always good food and service
This was the first time I've held a business meeting over lunch at Dawetts. I recommend it now both for great dinners and business lunches.
Dawett is one of my very favourite restaurants in town. It was my husband and my first date and the place we had our wedding rehearsal dinner. The manager/owner knows us by name and always makes sure we are enjoying ourselves. The staff is wonderful and very prompt. The food is unbelievable as is the rice and fresh naan bread. The menu is very large with a huge variety of different dishes. We will always be regulars at Dawett - I cant say enough good things!
Love this place. Wish I could go more often. By far the best Indian restaurant in Kelowna if not the best overall restaurant.
Had to wait over an hour before food arrived. Our order was lost in the line up. Had another event to attend so took away the pleasure of a leisurely dinning experience.
Dawett is without a doubt my favourite restaurant in Kelowna. The food is exceptional, always hot and fresh and so full of flavour. I’ve never had a meal there that hasn’t been rave-worthy. However, I literally cringe when I walk in and see that the male server (I think there is only one) is going to be serving my table. He is intrusive and so incredibly pushy about up-selling - extra drinks, more expensive dishes instead of less expensive, etc. I don’t mind being given suggestions but he makes me so uncomfortable that I think if I saw he was my server again I would leave and come back later. This meal was like all the others - absolutely delicious. We had the fish tikka, which came with big perfectly cooked chunks of fish, and the eggplant bhartha, which was among the best I’ve ever had. Our server was pushy about one of our guests ordering more beer, pushy about us ordering the vegetable biriyani instead of the plain rice we asked for, and rude when the other guests declined drinks other than water. He then ignored us for the rest of the meal, not bringing water by or asking how things were. Please please sort out your service issues and I would eat here everyday!!!
The food seems different since the last time we were there in February. Chicken more fatty. Not as nice quality.
Very tasty, nicely spiced but not too hot. We had the butter chicken, onion kulcha naan, a lamb dish and fish vindaloo as well as a tandoori mixed grill. Everything was top class, my son took home the remains with the some extra naan, he said it was still delicious the next day for breakfast.
Fabulously flavoured Indian food well prepared and executed. Naan was extra special. Well balanced to your heat level.
My friend and I were so excited to try Dawett as we love Indian food. The veggie pakoras were decent but all different temperatures, the garlic and basil naan was crunchy and the basil was clearly out of a dried shaker. The chicken in the tikka masala had little shards of bone and chunks cartilage in it. Completely turned us off.
I was disappointed and won’t be going back.
Great food (esp Tandoori), service and atmosphere. Loved it.
Restaurant didn’t register the open table reservation. We got the best table in the restaurant anyway. I always enjoyed the meals there, but that night, the appetizers (veggie pakora) were a little dry and mealy in texture.
Food was outstanding, we will recommend dining here to our friends
Just dinner with friends.
The food was fine. The butter chicken tasted odd though. The service wasn’t great but to be fair I think they were short of staff because it was a holiday.
Excellent food. We always visit when we come to Kelowna!
I can't understand how anybody could complain about this fine establishment. The food is 5 star and the service is excellent. I don't live around here so I can only visit a few times a year but every dining experience has been perfect. The best Indian food in Kelowna.
Good food , was nice and flavorful
We had the dinner for two and were pleased with all dishes except the dal. It tasted completely off, definitely old and probably spoiled. When the waitress asked if everything was good, we were glad to report that everything was delicious, except for the dal. Five minutes later the manager came to the table asking what was wrong. When we told her that the dal tasted terrible she had the nerve to tell us that we did not know what dal was supposed to taste like and that no one had ever complained about it so it could not be as we described it. I was insulted at her comment and would not ever return to such a restaurant, it’s a shame since the other dishes were delicious.
Food and service fantastic.
One of my favourite restaurants in a Kelowna. The food is always consistent.
Great choice if you're downtown Kelowna. I love the tandoori specialties, but I've had the curries too and they're perfect also. They have draft beer, which is nice with Indian food and have a small wine list too. Very friendly, good service!
Great experience every time I go for dinner. It seems the online bookings have taken them by surprise as the Valentine's bookings online overlapped with what they had by phone and so there was some confusion as to who got the tables. They sorted it out though as fast as they could and everyone was happy. Love this restaurant, highly recommended!
