Formally an old school Irish pub filled with mahogany charm, dbar has been renovated into a hip chic hot spot. With warm glowing candles & long leather banquettes, dbar offers a casual and comfortable atmosphere that attracts clientele from Dorchester and surrounding areas. The unique and classy menu inspired by Executive Chef Christopher Coombs changes with the seasons and features the finest and freshest available ingredients throughout the New England area.     This place is good not great - it has always had the potential to be great. Very slow service was the reason I gave it a lower rating. There seemed to be plenty of staff, but at one point we had to ask the person who came to clear the table if we could order more drinks through them - our server had disappeared. It is also fairly pricey for food that is also good not great. The menu is OK but sort of disjointed - you never get a "point of view" that says this is dBar. The atmosphere is great and the vibe is good, especially if you can dine outdoors as we did. We will continue to go there once in a while, but it is not a top choice.

    Terrific service. Great wait staff. Lovely food. I had the clam and shrimp scampi and it was delicious. Appetizers - guac and scallion pancake were tasty. Drinks were quite good - the make a good dirty martini! The folks who had the chicken under a brick and the salmon were happy. For me, being a bit hard of hearing, the noise in outside seating was noticeable, but no one else seemed bothered.

    Had a wonderful evening dining at dbar. The mussels were excellent as was the tilapia! Very flavorful. Our server was very attentive and accommodating to our requests. I definitely will recommend it to friends and plan to return.

    My first time there during dine Boston The food was better than expected Actually it was excellent very flavorful Had mussels for an app hanger steak for the entree and a chocolate ice cream for desert The server was engaged and funny Enjoyed my evening with my girlfriend and will definitely return

    I have been going to DBar for 15 years. The food has always been outstanding. My experience was disappointing last night. We ordered from the Boston Dine menu. Everything besides the dessert was way over cooked and way over salted. Proteins and sides alike. I love well cooked and salt but this was beyond. We had the tilapia, chicken and mussels. I hope it was a one off as I will be back. Service was friendly and quick so I felt funny telling them about the meal. Please work on getting back to your strength's. Best regards- loyal customer.

    DBar has very nice ambience. Service is always attentive without being intrusive. Staff are incredibly friendly and personable. Whether with a large group of friends or a small gathering it has always been a really good experience. The chef has done a great job creating a menu that consists of great appetizers and main entrees. One of the better neighborhood restaurants.

    We've been going to dBar since they first opened. It's become very up/down as far as quality of the food. There'll months that go by and food is great and then there'll be stretches where the food is just mediocre at best. Most recent experience (7/14). The falafel app was delicious! Poke bowl was bad, tuna tasted funny and there was too much sauce. The farro beet salad was super ordinary, beets were from a jar, again too much dressing. We did mention to bus person poke bowl was bad and he apologized but no one else spoke to us about it. We'll go again but not anytime in the near future.

    Been to dbar many times. So many good dishes, it's hard to choose. The chicken under a brick is a standout. The service is always good. (This time, our first table was noisy, and the host found us a quieter one.) The patio is great -- sheltered nicely, you wouldn't know that you were right off Dorchester Ave.

    We were disappointed this used to be my favorite place for a celebration. Three out of four of us felt the quality of the food has gone down while price have gone up. The appetizers were better than three of our entrees, The Baked Alaska & drinks saved the evening-Will be back but will stick to our go to Chickn under the brick

    We had to wait almost 75 minutes for our food. We asked for an update after about 45 minutes, which is when we learned that our order “has been overlooked”. We had to specifically ask what would be comped, because it didn’t really seem like it was going to happen. We appreciate the ultimate gesture of free drinks, but because it took so long for our food to come (apps and entrees all came at once, which made sense because of the delay but also not how we wanted to enjoy our meal) we had to sit through the beginning of karaoke. Then, to top it off, we waited with our cards out ready to pay for almost ten minutes before we intentionally flagged someone down and said we wanted to pay. All in all, a very disappointing experience at dbar.

    A cozy and busy (on the weekends) neighborhood restaurant and bar. I've eaten here many times and the food is consistently very good. It can get a little noisy because it's small and has an upbeat, friendly vibe. On Saturdays, many tables are cleared out by 11:00 or so to allow for dancing. It's a favored hangout for local gay men and women and still one of the best in Boston.

    Dinner portion sizes are small; drinks overly expensive for Dorchester. This is a recent phenomenon as we have eaten here many times before. Very disappointing.

    The service was outstanding. Everyone was very attentive and friendly. The lighting and decor was a tad bit dark for my taste, but once I got used to it I could focus on everything else.

    Really bad experience tonight. I’ve been coming here for almost 15 years and tonight was a disaster. The kitchen was so backed up and couldn’t cope. It took over 1.5 hours to get our mains. We didn’t have time to finish our dessert we ordered. Server was apologetic but no manager in sight to assist. Food was fine but service was so chaotic it ruined our night

    We had a really nice time. The corner table for great for conversation because a few of us had not seen each other since precovid. The staff - Julien perhaps?? - and his associate were very nice and helpful. Looking forward to another visit.

    I decided to return…haven’t been there in a couple of years. So glad I did. The menu selections were great. The service and drinks were great as well. I had the beet salad and the mac&cheese with bacon. The food was delicious. I highly recommend!
