Took awhile to get our food but other then that it was amazing
Less than satisfactory.
Let’s start with the menu. We were handed a special brunch menu, and had asked if we could order from the dinner menu – dinner started officially in 1 hour. There seemed to be some resistance to accommodating that request and the waitress stated there were only a couple of differences between the brunch and dinner menu. Not true, as we checked the website. Pushing past this opposition, we ordered from the limited brunch menu. I ordered Lobster roll [came with fries she said were the best – not, they were standard overcooked frozen fries] and my sister ordered the battered spicy shrimp roll. My lobster roll at 28$ came with, not 1 but 2 soggy, tasteless sandwiches – such a disappointment. The shrimp where over battered and overcooked… not resembling shrimp at all really. They were also very salty. Neither of us finished our meals.
We rarely saw our waitress, and heaven forbid we might want a second glass of wine [hello? If the 28$ shrimp roll isn’t the money maker aren’t the drinks?]
It got complicated when we wanted to pay and get out of there. We had a credit to use – we had given it to our waitress when we first sat down so she was well aware of it and had the entire meal to work it out. The bill, which came from a different server that we had to chase to get… did not include the credit. Apologetically she left to sort it out. It came back with a Manager this time and still no credit applied. Oh my heavens – by this time we have invested so much time into this visit we were tapped out of patience. The bill finally came correct and we paid and left. Won’t go back. Can’t recommend. It’s mediocre food at best and inefficient, novice service on top.
Our server, Calvin, was outstanding. He was attentive, knowledgeable and steered us to great choices. He’s probably one of the best servers we’ve ever had anywhere. A total gem! The shrimp appetizer and burgers were off the charts delicious. We would definitely go back!
Everything was great. The only disappointment was Dianne ‘s did not have Halibut.
Excellent restaurant in a great spot near the Lake. The waitress was great, the local beer I had was exceptional and the meals both my wife and I had were perfect. we both had different shrimp dishes and they were perfectly prepared and served. The pricing was fair for the size of the portions. We were very impressed.
We came from Ottawa and enjoyed a wonderful lunch. Being a former Nova Scotian, I really enjoyed the authentic N.S. lobster rolls, Can't even get these in Ottawa and I'll be back for more Our waiter was wonderful too - very personable and helpful. Wonderful place for lunch.
We highly recommend the haddock and shrimp. In fact, they were so good, esoecially the shrimp, we may order them separately next time in hopes of bigger portions.
The beef brisket was not bad, but I didn't recognize the cocoa and coffee flavour as advertised. The lobster roll had good portion lobster pieces and the fish chowder was satisfying.
Ambience was casual comfy. Sitting on the patio on a warm day should be nice but faces the street/parking lot. Was a little disappointed that open table asked for our occasional (birthday) during reservation but the information was not addressed at all by the staff, but that's just nitpicking :P On the other hand, the reservation process was great.
Price was fair for such good food in the heart of downtown.
Cozy restaurant with cool decor. Service was great , Abbey was very helpful and the food was amazing. Highly recommend the tacos. It’s not your typical boring seafood place ,the Baja twist is unique. Will definitely be returning.
Fabulous everything- food, service. Very tolerant of our young children. We will definitely try to get back to Kingston just for this restaurant
I was very pleased with the service I received from understanding staff.
The only good part of the dining experience was the service, other than that we were not impressed!
Had a lovely dinner for my daughter’s graduation from Queens University. Our reservation was for a couple of hours later, but the staff arranged for us to sit early . Dianne’s is one of my daughter’s favourite restaurants , so we decided to celebrate her graduation there . Food and service were great!
Second time there. Food was good, found it to be just a bit on the pricier side. Nice corner location. Nice and efficient waitress.
Amazing food!! The Crab Cakes are phenomenal!!
Service was great - the rest disappointing. Would not recommend.
I have eaten here five times in three months. Do I need to say more?
the food was good, the staff were friendly and the ambience was cheerful. Tas, our server, was a gem!
Pros:Great service (Mandy) You were exceptional ,Great food. Cons:Poor parking, and expensive.
Exceptionnal food and service as always. Highly recommend. Best burger in town as far as we are concerned! The fries are excellent as well. Actually everything we have ever had is excellent.
Hint: less sauce on brisket
Try the mussels and calamari.
I have been to Dianne’s numerous times and am always blown away by the delicious menu, overall vibe, and fabulous staff. This is one of my favourites in Kingston. Worth the drive from Ottawa (just plan to stay in the city over night because once you arrive you will want to stay for a while)... highly recommend. I brought friends from Ottawa on Saturday and they fell in love with the place.
We were in Kingston for our annual bowling tournament and we came here for Dinner. We arrived during happy hour so took advantage of the half price apps and drinks. The food was delicious. Service was great! No complaints. Nice location...after dinner we walked down by the old train station and took some pictures including with the KINGSTON sign! We will go back next year!
Our server, Maggie, was superb. My spouse and I ordered the chowder, which was very good, and the fish and chips. While I appreciated the ability to have a salad rather than chips, we both found the fish and batter very bland and we did not like the accompanying sauce at all. I do not know how our friends enjoyed their meals but we certainly enjoyed getting together and were able to chat and enjoy ourselves comfortably.
I am never disappointed every time I visit Dianne's. Great service and great food.
We had an awesome as usual, lobster rolls are always excellent. Our server, Calvin was amazing, he made our night. He was funny and extremely helpful and knowledgable . Highly recommend.
Six old retired guys thought it was good , food was good especially the chowder and fish cakes. We will return.
Friendly staff, great food , would definitely recommend to friends
My favorite place in Kingston.
We had dinner at Dianne's on Friday night and, at 5:00pm, all tables were reserved and full, despite the poor weather. Food, as always, was very good. Portions are a good size. Tables are a tad on the small side (and are close together)and get crowded with plates, cutlery and drinks. Dianne's is noisy. Not usually a problem, but two of our tablemates have poor hearing, so the noise bothered them.
As always, such a great dining experience! Highly recommend fish tacos and mixta salad. Delicious!
My boyfriend and I just tried out Dianna's to see how it would be and we were very delighted with the food, service and atmosphere! It was a quiet night, but the waitress was very kind to really answer all our many questions. The special was delicious and we cannot wait to return:)
Had date night for my husband and i and had not been to Dianne's. Nice ambiance , good service and good food, we both had the fish cakes and haddock, shrimp and fries. Definitely one of the nicest fish and chips ive had. Would go again!
We were going to the Foreigner concert...4 middle aged women needing a night out. Kalvin our server was beyond fantastic ..knowledgeable and friendly. Not Fake. I like it when someone teaches me something I didn't know about something I am consuming !! His recommendations were fantastic as well . The young lady serving the table beside us was nice as well....nice when you see teamwork. We will be back !!
Great service, great food. Good mix of meat and seafood. Both the lobster rolls and the Dianne burger were excellent. Would definitely repeat.
Diane's is my favourite restaurant in Kingston. I love the atmosphere; it's both casual and stylish. I especially love their Tuna "Poke" and tacos. The tacos are a great deal too!
Awesome food and we were first table of the day and welcomed warmly.
Tequila Shrimp was delicious! Main courses were also excellent - I had the steak and my partner had tacos! Wine on tap is always wonderful as well!
We went twice but never again. The seafood was teŕrible. It tasted dried up prefrozen and tasteless. Staff was friendly but didñot know about food when asked.
1st time at Dianne's and the food, drink and service were great. I had a great view of both my wife's smiling face And Kingston's beautiful city hall all evening - everything was perfect.
Saturday evening dinner taking my Queens students out for a treat. They loved it. Reminded me very much of a Halifax style eatery, great food and relaxed atmosphere!
