A first visit but not to be our last. Our server was great...offering suggestions and sharing options.
Four of us had 4 different meals....all great.
Not to be missed in the Seafood Poutine.
A Kingston gem.
A nice Sunday lunch “en famille”.
It was good!
We loved the atmosphere. Fantastic fish cakes, good wine menu and friendly service. Definately will return for another seniors date night.
Womens bathroom out of order.only men's bathroom available with part of it out of order and very little light and down a flight if stairs. Questionably clean restaurant. Food mostly fried things. Fish & chips has 1 piece of fish & lots of fries.
We had dinner-- the fish & chips (haddock) - crispy batter just the right thickness & the mixta salad with grilled tuna. Black beans, corn, mixed greens, etc. YUM! - the tune had crispy edges and was tender inside -- I could cut it with a fork. The mixta salad with the added grilled tuna is a Weightwatchers Freestyle 0 pts dinner except for the roll & a bit of light salad dressing, and of course the wine! Even the Happy Hour bucket of mussels with the curry sauce was great, maybe a couple of WW pts if that. Too full for dessert. Waitress was attentive and patient with our late arrival & smart to order our mains at the same time as our appetizer, even though they were served separately. Will probably go back for lunch with a group soon.
Food was and service fine, and the beer was good with a nice local selection. But what made me look twice (when the bill came) was the 2 X $4.00 charge (for the 1 soda pop each) that my kids had..? Wow, they almost could have had a beer for the same price.. too bad they are still under age!
Sorry kids, lets just order water next time, and we'll just smuggle your colas in.. Doh!
Fish was the best - the fries could have been better a little boring but I have had some great fries lately in my travels. Have only been once but will definitely go back.
The food was excellent and so was the service. I had the fish and chips and it was very good.
It had a light batter and plenty of fish and was not oily. My wife had the tacos and loved them.
We would definitely go back on our next visit.
The place gets full very fast, so reservations are recommended .
Poutine was good and so was the fish and chips. Unfortunately our fish tacos were not fresh. Portions could be a little bigger for the price,
It was my husband's second visit but my first. Our main courses were quite good ( tuna steak and brisket/chicken combo) but a little pricey for value. Our appetizer was a real disappointment and after one bite sent it back . On the menu it was described as a spicy tequila infused shrimp dish for two, but it had no flavour and the shrimp tasted over boiled and rubbery.
Our server was very accommodating, apologetic and took the item off our bill.
The food was really bad. Very little and the price was hideous. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.
Unfortunately my niece wasn't working, so 3 relatives missed their chance meeting.
The food here was amazing. We loved every bite of it.
Fabulous food and service. Very cool place!
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. We had the fish and chip combo and it was delicious. Our waitress was very sweet. Service was fast. Decent price. Would definitely go back to this restaurant.
The food was amazing! The fishcakes were so delicious and we shared four tacos and a salad. We were on vacation in Kingston and so glad we ate here. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Diane's was recommended to us as an "excellent" place. We have eaten in many fish restaurants and although the food was good, the portions were small and consequently expensive for what we got. The fish and chips was good but the two pieces of fish were small compared to what we have seen in PEI, Halifax, and even Muskoka. The serving of fries was not generous and we especially did not like the fact that the fries were salted for us. What was most surprising is that the order of mussels at $18 did not even come with fries. That is standard in all the restaurants where we have ordered mussels. Consider also that the portion again was small, only 23 mussels where normally an order would be between 35-40 mussels on a plate. Serving 23 mussels for $18 plus another $5 for fries makes a very expensive dish, especially for just mussels. So unfortunately, although the food is good, the value is not.
Visiting Kingston for the first time, glad we took a recommendation and ate at Dianne’s!
Not a good dining experience. Fish served undercooked and not fresh. One serving was not what was ordered. Noise level high. Surprised with attitude of server who stated she knew the order was not correct but served it anyway. Fish was replaced however.
Ok place but way overpriced. Great service and mussels for starter were tasty but fish and brisket didn’t live up to the significant price tags Vs local alternatives
Sorry to say we had a bad experience at Diane’s having to wait an hour and a half for our food. The server was fantastic though.
Food was so so, as they appeared to have kitchen staff problems.
Went to the restaurant explicitly because we saw it on “You Gotta Eat Here.” On the way through Kingston on a motorcycle tour down to Lake Placid.
Dianne's is definitely a fun and funky restaurant on the waterfront in Kingston, ON. We were in Kingston on vacation and loved the place and the food. If we are even in Kingston again we would definitely go back
nice restaurant with great atmosphere very convenient location and great service
Calamari was fabulous, chicken taco was dry- not flavourful, beer red fox was great.
Wine list was dissapointing. Unless they add some better wines by the glass, won’t go back.
Terrific place, friendly efficient service
The fish cakes were outstanding
Beer options were great
I would definitely return
Jackie our server was wonderful and attentive. Food was excellent
Unfortunately, food that was ordered was not worth the price you paid for it. Salmon was over cooked, steak had no flavor and it could have used another vegetable besides the mushrooms & fries it came with. Tacos were ok. Ambience was great but bc of our experience we probably won’t go back.
Awesome food! Fish cakes we really good and the eggs Benny was filling.
Second time in Kingston and was worth driving all the way from Toronto. Highly recommend if you are looking for a great seafood spot.
Excellent food but expensive for portions given. Staff were friendly.
Very expensive for what we ordered. $138.00 For lunch including drinks.
Lobster rolls were completely tasteless.
Calamari was excellent. Seafood routine sounded good in the menu but was barely ok.
Will not return.
East Cosst meets Mexico ! Can't say enough good things. Service was fast and friendly. Excellent food. We will be back on our next visit to this lovely city
It would b great if there were accessable washrooms as well. Other than that had a WONDERFUL DINING EXPERIENCE. Enjoyed our evening immensely 👍👍👍
Lobster Roll and fries are a Must. The special artic char was awesome.
Food was very fresh and excellent. Will definitely come back again!
The food was amazing, the drinks were delish, the service was awesome (Thank you Lizzy! You made the night that much better!) and the patio was beautiful. HIGHLY recommend making reservations as they are busy (for good reason)
We saw Diane’s on a television show and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. The food was great (definitely made fresh in house) with some unique flavours. The staff was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed or wanted. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated but could use an update in a few places (bench seats need reupholstering) and there wasn’t much space between tables (we didn’t feel stuck in another groups conversation but just tight to get around). For the things that mattered though, it was great. We will definitely go back.
The fish cakes were to die for! We found the poke bowl too spicy (maybe mention it to people who order it?). Wish we had been hungrier, we would’ve definitely tried the tacos!!! Great place, can’t wait to go back!
