Visiting Kingston for the first time, glad we took a recommendation and ate at Dianne’s!
Ok place but way overpriced. Great service and mussels for starter were tasty but fish and brisket didn’t live up to the significant price tags Vs local alternatives
Sorry to say we had a bad experience at Diane’s having to wait an hour and a half for our food. The server was fantastic though.
Food was so so, as they appeared to have kitchen staff problems.
Went to the restaurant explicitly because we saw it on “You Gotta Eat Here.” On the way through Kingston on a motorcycle tour down to Lake Placid.
Dianne's is definitely a fun and funky restaurant on the waterfront in Kingston, ON. We were in Kingston on vacation and loved the place and the food. If we are even in Kingston again we would definitely go back
nice restaurant with great atmosphere very convenient location and great service
Calamari was fabulous, chicken taco was dry- not flavourful, beer red fox was great.
Wine list was dissapointing. Unless they add some better wines by the glass, won’t go back.
Terrific place, friendly efficient service
The fish cakes were outstanding
Beer options were great
I would definitely return
Jackie our server was wonderful and attentive. Food was excellent
Unfortunately, food that was ordered was not worth the price you paid for it. Salmon was over cooked, steak had no flavor and it could have used another vegetable besides the mushrooms & fries it came with. Tacos were ok. Ambience was great but bc of our experience we probably won’t go back.
Awesome food! Fish cakes we really good and the eggs Benny was filling.
Second time in Kingston and was worth driving all the way from Toronto. Highly recommend if you are looking for a great seafood spot.
Excellent food but expensive for portions given. Staff were friendly.
Very expensive for what we ordered. $138.00 For lunch including drinks.
Lobster rolls were completely tasteless.
Calamari was excellent. Seafood routine sounded good in the menu but was barely ok.
Will not return.
East Cosst meets Mexico ! Can't say enough good things. Service was fast and friendly. Excellent food. We will be back on our next visit to this lovely city
It would b great if there were accessable washrooms as well. Other than that had a WONDERFUL DINING EXPERIENCE. Enjoyed our evening immensely 👍👍👍
Lobster Roll and fries are a Must. The special artic char was awesome.
Food was very fresh and excellent. Will definitely come back again!
The food was amazing, the drinks were delish, the service was awesome (Thank you Lizzy! You made the night that much better!) and the patio was beautiful. HIGHLY recommend making reservations as they are busy (for good reason)
We saw Diane’s on a television show and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. The food was great (definitely made fresh in house) with some unique flavours. The staff was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed or wanted. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated but could use an update in a few places (bench seats need reupholstering) and there wasn’t much space between tables (we didn’t feel stuck in another groups conversation but just tight to get around). For the things that mattered though, it was great. We will definitely go back.
The fish cakes were to die for! We found the poke bowl too spicy (maybe mention it to people who order it?). Wish we had been hungrier, we would’ve definitely tried the tacos!!! Great place, can’t wait to go back!
Lovely place for family and friends to dine. Fish and chips were exceptional. Overall service was very good. Waiter and staff greeted us with a smile and worked hard to cater to all customers. Highly recommend this restaurant.
I saw Diane's on "You gotta eat here" and knew the next time we were in my hometown we would have to go try the seafood! The seafood poutine, lobster rolls, & fish and shrimp were all delicious. The kicker was the grilled Mexican corn w the lime dressing & cojita cheese topped w pickled jalepenos. Wowzer! We'll be back!
My daughter is crazy about poutine, so the draw was the seafood poutine on the menu, but everything we had was wholesome, fresh and tasty; the service was excellent and the ambience was pleasant.
The seafood poutine was good but the lobster rolls were the real show stopper. Service was also excellent.
Food quality and presentation was excellent, we waited too long to be served our food, 45 minutes. There was a little miscommunication between server and kitchen apparently. Overall we were OK, less waiting would have improved our total experience.
Took awhile to get our food but other then that it was amazing
Less than satisfactory.
Let’s start with the menu. We were handed a special brunch menu, and had asked if we could order from the dinner menu – dinner started officially in 1 hour. There seemed to be some resistance to accommodating that request and the waitress stated there were only a couple of differences between the brunch and dinner menu. Not true, as we checked the website. Pushing past this opposition, we ordered from the limited brunch menu. I ordered Lobster roll [came with fries she said were the best – not, they were standard overcooked frozen fries] and my sister ordered the battered spicy shrimp roll. My lobster roll at 28$ came with, not 1 but 2 soggy, tasteless sandwiches – such a disappointment. The shrimp where over battered and overcooked… not resembling shrimp at all really. They were also very salty. Neither of us finished our meals.
We rarely saw our waitress, and heaven forbid we might want a second glass of wine [hello? If the 28$ shrimp roll isn’t the money maker aren’t the drinks?]
It got complicated when we wanted to pay and get out of there. We had a credit to use – we had given it to our waitress when we first sat down so she was well aware of it and had the entire meal to work it out. The bill, which came from a different server that we had to chase to get… did not include the credit. Apologetically she left to sort it out. It came back with a Manager this time and still no credit applied. Oh my heavens – by this time we have invested so much time into this visit we were tapped out of patience. The bill finally came correct and we paid and left. Won’t go back. Can’t recommend. It’s mediocre food at best and inefficient, novice service on top.
Our server, Calvin, was outstanding. He was attentive, knowledgeable and steered us to great choices. He’s probably one of the best servers we’ve ever had anywhere. A total gem! The shrimp appetizer and burgers were off the charts delicious. We would definitely go back!
Everything was great. The only disappointment was Dianne ‘s did not have Halibut.
Excellent restaurant in a great spot near the Lake. The waitress was great, the local beer I had was exceptional and the meals both my wife and I had were perfect. we both had different shrimp dishes and they were perfectly prepared and served. The pricing was fair for the size of the portions. We were very impressed.
We came from Ottawa and enjoyed a wonderful lunch. Being a former Nova Scotian, I really enjoyed the authentic N.S. lobster rolls, Can't even get these in Ottawa and I'll be back for more Our waiter was wonderful too - very personable and helpful. Wonderful place for lunch.
We highly recommend the haddock and shrimp. In fact, they were so good, esoecially the shrimp, we may order them separately next time in hopes of bigger portions.
The beef brisket was not bad, but I didn't recognize the cocoa and coffee flavour as advertised. The lobster roll had good portion lobster pieces and the fish chowder was satisfying.
Ambience was casual comfy. Sitting on the patio on a warm day should be nice but faces the street/parking lot. Was a little disappointed that open table asked for our occasional (birthday) during reservation but the information was not addressed at all by the staff, but that's just nitpicking :P On the other hand, the reservation process was great.
Price was fair for such good food in the heart of downtown.
Cozy restaurant with cool decor. Service was great , Abbey was very helpful and the food was amazing. Highly recommend the tacos. It’s not your typical boring seafood place ,the Baja twist is unique. Will definitely be returning.
Fabulous everything- food, service. Very tolerant of our young children. We will definitely try to get back to Kingston just for this restaurant
I was very pleased with the service I received from understanding staff.
The only good part of the dining experience was the service, other than that we were not impressed!
Had a lovely dinner for my daughter’s graduation from Queens University. Our reservation was for a couple of hours later, but the staff arranged for us to sit early . Dianne’s is one of my daughter’s favourite restaurants , so we decided to celebrate her graduation there . Food and service were great!
Second time there. Food was good, found it to be just a bit on the pricier side. Nice corner location. Nice and efficient waitress.
Amazing food!! The Crab Cakes are phenomenal!!
