Our favorite restaurant in NOLA. Tonight we celebrated my wife's birthday, and they made it a very special occasion. The poached gulf oysters were fabulous -- not to be missed. On this night, we had the Gulf fish, Bouillabaisse, and duck. All terrific. On past visits, we've also had the filet, tuna, and chicken -- all terrific. We dine out 5 times weekly, and include Bistro Daisy in our weekly rotation. Bistro Daisy may be the most under rated restaurant in NOLA. Definitely worth a visit.

Just returned from Father's Day lunch – absolutely delicious! The restaurant's interior evokes classic New Orleans charm with its tile floor and wood paneling, reminiscent of bygone days. Vanessa at the front was incredibly helpful despite a reservation mix-up (note to self: call next time). Our server, Ty, was a delight – cheerful, funny, and knowledgeable about the menu, especially in accurately describing the different preparations of the potato side dishes. The steaks and sides arrived piping hot. While the food brought us back, Vanessa and Ty's exceptional service made our experience truly memorable. We'll definitely return! Huge thanks to all the hard-working staff, especially on such a busy holiday.

The food was amazing and worth the wait. Everything came out hot and fresh and was so full of flavor. Unfortunately, there was only 1 waiter, but he rocked and did his best to make up for any delays. He answered all the questions and was stellar.Beaitiful spot we will definitely be visiting again.

The staff brought out a special congratulatory cotton candy treat for our 5th grade graduate, which was very sweet. There were also plenty of other families there, so def kid-friendly in that regard. The decor was very cool and the desserts were absolutely delicious. We also enjoyed our charcuterie very much. The music is a little loud for conversation, but it is a downtown “bar” so that’s understandable. It also was not the edited version of 90s and 00s hip-hop, so keep that in mind re: your expectations of being “kid friendly.” A few menu items we wanted to try were not available, but we won’t mind returning to try them later.

West Bank
About the restaurant

Bayou des Familles, a lazy waterway home to many alligators, turtles, egrets and other wildlife, takes center stage as our restaurant’s design provides its diners with a natural picture show. It’s in this unique setting where friends and family unite to experience southern Louisiana charm and culture in its finest form. It’s an experience not to be soon forgotten.

The 15-mile drive from downtown New Orleans will take you through the Jean Lafitte National Park. You’ll arrive at Restaurant des Familles and park under moss-filled century-old oak trees. The restaurant’s Acadian-style architecture provides a glimpse of bayou life that once was.

Our menu features authentic representations of Cajun and Creole favorites such as Crawfish Etouffée, Seafood & Okra Gumbo, Seafood Platters and Turtle Soup. Our signature dish, Alligator Stuffed Mushrooms with Alligator Sauce Piquant, will tempt even the most timid diner.

We look forward to your visit.
