Savor was our anniversary dinner choice and it far exceeded our expectations. Four delectable courses served, cooked, baked, presented, and supervised by every aspect of the culinary institute. These students are trained and expected to work every aspect of the restaurant experience, from your initial welcome at the door to serving your table and cooking each meal. They are trained and supervised by multiple mentors who are on site. Additionally, each and every person working carried them self with kindness and poise. A big shoutout to our server Shyanne. She’s truly found comfort in working with the public and made our experience even more special.

La Cantera
About the restaurant
If you find yourself dreaming of the Texas Hill Country, savory comforts, spice, and the sultry depth of a fine Burgundy, you’ll be pleased to know about Signature at La Cantera Resort & Spa.

The menu is straightforward and beguiling, featuring contemporary interpretations of classic dishes — fresher, brighter versions of traditional cuisine enlivened with unconventional Texas spirit. Gulf seafood conspires with Atlantic Coast oysters flown in fresh, and the Hill Country is well-represented year-round. Local and organic ingredients change the menu as the seasons peak and wane, but the constants are quality, flavor, artistry in the kitchen and a warm welcome when you walk in the door.

The bourbon cocktails were fabulous. We leisurely ate an appetizer of shrimp and kimchi Brussel sprouts and sipped our cocktails. For our entrees my friends from New Mexico ordered the chef’s special of quail and lamb chops with spring pea risotto. They really enjoyed the dish. I had the Mustang chicken. I love this dish because it’s prepared as a vey thin cutlet with a horseradish and Parmesan cheese crust. We ordered a great bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon from Willamet, Oregon. Finally for desert we had the delicious toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. Ryan was our server. He did an outstanding job as our server. He was knowledgeable about the food and wine. He took great pride in working with the Lawton family at Cappy’s. We close the place down visiting with Ryan about the city of San Antonio where he grew up.

Kerrville
About the restaurant
Built right on the bank of the Guadalupe River, 1011 Bistro offers the most spectacular view in Kerrville. You will find something in our menu for a special occasion, family gathering, or just kick back with friends and a bottle of wine on our open terrace.

Our menu features some French and American specialties, as well as some Italian classics, with a touch of Texas. Appetizers include our famous Mussels in broth, baked Crab Cakes and crispy Calamari. You can also find salads, pasta dishes, steaks and fish. Did we mention all our desserts are homemade?

Our extensive wine list has something for everyone… California Cabernets and Zinfnadels, Italian Chiantis and Pinot Grigios, Malbecs from Argentina, and Australian Shiraz. Our menu is definitely wine-friendly.

This is a cool joint. I understand it’s a former speakeasy. The drinks are top notch. Edison is a cool waiter. Sazarac is phenomenal. Two weeks ago Jazz Deacons played and were super. Last night Jazz Deacons played again only it was NOT the same band. SMH.
