We always leave wondering why we waited so long to come back! The food is excellent, the portions generous for the price and the service friendly and attentive. The lemon hummus and dolmas standout and the presentation for all dishes Instagram worthy. My only hesitation is the noise level…when full it can detract from the enjoyment of the meal. If they added some textiles or sound blocks to counter the many hard surfaces, it would change the experience in a positive way!

About the restaurant
Our newest restaurant, Afghania is the sister restaurant to Bistro Aracosia in the Palisades neighborhood of DC, Aracosia in McLean Va and Afghan Bistro in Springfield VA. Afghania accommodates any diet and is proud of taking cooking back to its origins.

Welcome to Afghania, where the Steppe of Central Asia meets the Hindu Kush and Suleiman Mountain Range, bordering South Asia. Come and enjoy the warm hospitality, exquisite flavors, and the mystery of the Afghan frontier that so many have been intrigued by.
At Afghania you will enjoy some classical dishes of the warriors from the frontier. Smoked meats, vegetables full of flavor, exotic spices, exquisite flavors and aromas and unmatched hospitality are promised at Afghania.
Come and enjoy dishes that date back to the early 1800’s from the Afghan Empire - Afghania.

Afghania is very like its Palisade neighborhood affiliate Bistro Aracosia, where I've eaten often: excellent food (sophisticated and nuanced, well beyond the simpler Afghan kabob-centered restaurants typical elsewhere); good and friendly service; and VERY generous entree portions (so think twice before ordering an appetizer, esp. since in any event you'll get complimentary bread with four different tasty dips as a starter.) By the way, the restaurant is a paradise for vegans, with many nice vegan selections (but plenty of choice for us meat-eaters, too). I can't predict the noise level, since I had dinner early before any crowds arrived. The floor plan is long and narrow, so the noise level will depend on the wall/ceiling materials and acoustics. In sum, Afghania is an excellent choice, esp. if you like well seasoned food. It also is reasonable in price as Georgetown restaurants go.

About the restaurant
Restaurants in Alsace traditionally have a formal main dining room as well as a casual dining room known locally as a weinstube or brasserie. At the brasserie, diners may enjoy traditional, hearty Alsatian dishes in a warm and relaxing atmosphere. These friendly establishments are immensely popular with Alsatians and visiting them is always the best part of my trips back to Alsace. I opened Jacques' Brasserie at L'Auberge Chez François to bring the tastes and comforts of the Alsatian brasserie to Great Falls.

Truly outstanding. Causa's Michelin star is very well-deserved and they are operating at the two-star level, at least. The food was innovative, beautifully presented, and lip-smacking (there's no better way to describe it--every bite is like an explosion of flavor and texture). The meal was well-paced, and the service was world-class, professional and engaging. On top of all this, it's an excellent value. We've paid three times as much for half the quality. Causa is on our top five list of "will return"...again and again!

The food in the service are perfect!! I really enjoyed the two times I’ve been. I didn’t love the piano in the background. But that’s just a personal preference, but I definitely can’t wait to go back again.
