I had the curry which barely had any spice in it, and the service was poor. Sadly Diva used to be a good restaurant but has dropped in caliber. They need to do a lot to elevate both the food and service.
We very much enjoyed our drinks & dinner on Saturday night. A well thought out menu, with some varied choices, excellent food, & great service - we shall return!
Not as good as before, but it could’ve been an off night. Service is always great.
Diva has a new chef and new menu since our last visit. It still is a good restaurant, with very good service, but is more casual, catering it seems more to the hotel guests, and not quite as good as a destination restaurant. However very good value still.
Got to our reservation early, was sat near the door and a TV during an intimate Valentine's Day. Not a good way to start the date. We asked to be moved and the wait staff and host made a big deal about us wanting to move, meanwhile the restaraunt was maybe one third full.
The service was not good, our server consistently asked other tables if they wanted drinks, but not ours. Each table recieved a lovely pair of chocolate covered strawberries and a rose before their bill came. But of course, not ours. We had such high hopes and although our server was really lovely while at our table, we just barely saw her and could not get her attention. It looked as though they were understaffed and she was just her ran off her feet. Perhaps the restaurant can confirm more staff for future events.
For their Valentines Day special, each meal was so lack luster in taste. The lobster bisque had one piece of lobster in mine and my spouse just had the broth. I had a pescatarian option for the dinner and was served a salmon fillet, tail end, absolutely hard as a well done steak, with carrots that had not even removed the ends. The set menu said tiramisu for dessert, it was red velvet cake that was bland and disguised as tiramisu!!
Will not return, would not recommend. After a bill of $210.00 before tip, this was by far the worst dinner we have ever had. For $86 per person for a set menu, the restaurant really should up their game!
The food was a bit boring.
The wine pairing options were great
Felt like an airport restaurant so atmosphere was blah... food was ok. Appreciate with dine out things can be mass produced .. meat was tender and tasty but mash potato was bland and dry. Pork belly was all fat which was disappointing
Worst experience ever. The food was below average - either too salty or tasteless. The waitress, Lyric (or May as stated on the receipt), was slow and rude.
Between each course, we had to wait 30-45min so the dinner took extra long. Whenever we try to wave her down, she would pretend that she didn’t see us and continue on serving other tables. The other tables that came later than us all finished way ahead of us - at least an hour ahead.
Then when it came to giving us the bill, she took another 30-40min while we tried to wave her down with no successful tries. When she finally came with the bill, we decided to give her less tips since she did not give us good service, it was when she brought the credit card machine over that she told us there’s actually auto gratuity and she charged the amount she didn’t deserve. We did not see anywhere that it stated the restaurant will charge 18% tips if we have a group of 6. It wasn't on the bill either; she just entered it on the machine and made us tap our cards. She should be properly train to treat all her customers the same. We felt like we were treated with bad attitude and service because she automatically gets the tips anyways.
DON’T GO IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE TREATED POORLY.
Dinner out menu was delicious but pricey. Service by Felipe was excellent. Atmosphere was good but decor outdated.
we went for dine out by my and was recommended by my sister who had been to it a few times.
i am glad we did as the food was amazing and staff and service was great. definitely will go back
We were sitting at the table at the back of the restaurant where was very quiet. We thought we were very lucky because we found it was very noisy at the front of the restaurant when we walked through there at the end of our dinner. I chose short rib and I loved it. It was very tendar and tasty. I loved the dessert I picked - sticky toffee pudding as well. I was very happy that I chose Diva at the Met.
Portions were very generous.
The noise level was high and we (6) could not hear each other. If the Dine Out menu was a good sampling of your regular menu, it was disappointing. Food was only mediocre. Parking was not allowed for Dine Out, so had to park elsewhere on a very rainy night. Service was excellent and attentive, best part of the experience.
One of the worst Dine Out experiences I've had. Despite the restaurant being two thirds empty we were made to feel rushed and disrespected. Our meal was okay, not stellar. For a well established higher end restaurant DIVA did not meet any expectations. After getting in touch with the manager regarding our concerns after our meal his response did not address any of the points raised and did not leave me feeling that anything would change. Again I felt the DIVA does not value it's customers. We won't be going back or recommending to anyone. There are other much better restaurants that know the meaning of customer service that are worthy of our custom. The only thing big about DIVA was our disappointment.
I went to Diva with a friend for Dine Out. The food and service were excellent. The noise level was low and there were not TV screens everywhere. I would definitely recommend it.
My first time at Diva at the Met and really it's only a block away from my office. Great ambience and perfect for meetings. We were there having a business meal enjoying Dine Out Vancouver. Salad was perfectly tossed and not over dressed. Steelhead trout was 100% perfectly cooked. The accompanying vegetables were unfortunately not good. The cauliflower and spinach were raw, almost put on the plate as an afterthought. The toffee cake was perfect. All in all, a good meal. I would go back again.
I have eaten here numerous times and each time I have left full and very happy. Service is excellent, and it is a nice ambient dining space. Will return again and again.
Was expecting the same type of food as the last three years. Food was good but not the usual creative offerings.
Always a pleasure to dine here. Food is delicious and well presented, servers are warm and friendly.
Firstly, our server MacKenzie was very nice we all thoroughly enjoyed our whole meal and in the future will certainly entertain another visit.
We had a lovely meal on Saturday night. The service was fantastic...thank you McKenzie. You gave us time between courses and served us together. Also waiting for both of us to finish before removing our plates...very professional and proper service. We sat for just over two hours which is perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed every course of the dine around menu. My husband and I both had different courses so were able to have a taste from each other. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. We will definitely be back!!
This was how dine out used to be. showcasing food from the menu. Food so good, I want to go back. Definitely not like the other dine out experience, where they want to pack in as many people as they can, and provide food below there normal, unless you buy the supplements!!
Made reservations for two people. The table was ready exactly on time which showed a lot in only the first few minutes. The waitress was friendly, gave recommendations on food/wines and checked in at each course to ensure we were doing well. The wines we tried were great tasting, medium bodied and easy on the palate and of course the food.....it was delicious. Each item was presented well and visually appealing. The flavours were spot on, the portion size was just right and we felt full after the meal but at the right level of fullness. I would come back again.
I went there for lunch dine out and it was terrible. I will never ever go back again for this restaurant. My lunch break is 1 hour which I think it's enough but I waited for the entree for about 45 minutes. I ordered the trout and it was not hot (just warm), not sure if it's well cooked but I need to leave very soon, so I didn't ask the server about the warmness of the food. Luckily, I don't have any bad reaction after eating. The guests who sit beside me (came later than me) ordered food on regular menu and they came even faster than the dine out menu...what's the total point of dine out? The server rarely asked for food quality and didn't see I was waving at him...I packed the dessert due to timing and the dessert is very small. The total bill is $45 plus 15% tips, not worth it. BAD EXPERIENCE....
We originally planned to have another couple friends join us so we would have been given a larger table so since it was just 2 of us we were put right next to a giant round pillar...not the best but that's life. The only other comment was that our confirmation included "Complimentary parking" which apparently was not the case during dine out at this location. After going back and speaking with about 3 people, valet, hotel doorman and manager was I able to have this honored because OpenTable didn't change this on their confirmation to me... those were our only challenges....I love this restaurant, the food is excellent and my husband and I both commented that we much preferred to pay $10 extra ($45pp) to ensure we had good portion sizes for our entrée and the rest of the meal....very enjoyable and will be back again soon!
Excellent. Wonderful service!!
For $99 set menu it was horrible food.
We had a 7:30pm reservation, but no one was there to receive us for about 10min. A waiter that ran by said ‘oh, we are really behind and everyone at the bar are still waiting for their tables’ So we ordered some cocktails at the bar and it was another 25 min before getting to a table. Out of the 5 course set meal, only the scallops appetizer and the dessert at the end were acceptable. The beet salad had leaves that were wilted. None of us finished it. I had one beet slice only. The sablefish I had was not tasty at all. I know it’s really hard to get staff for Xmas day. But, then don’t offer to be open and then serve customers less than adequate cooking! I would have tried another hotel restaurant instead. By 9:30pm, we had only had the soup and they were just bringing the awful beet salad! Will never go there again even for non- holiday dining’s.
Food was amazing
Service was fantastic
Did not have to wait to long to get served
We enjoyed our Christmas dinner. The 1st course Butternut Squash Bisque was very delicious. I like my soup really hot and this one was really hot – right to the last spoonful – actually, I burned my throat twice not expecting the soup to remain hot for so long. The 2nd course Beet Salad was not amazing at all. The greens were somewhat tired and starting to turn. The 3rd Course Seared Sea Scallops with Crisp Pancetta was very good. The scallops were perfectly cooked – sous vide to perfect before pan seared. They had a beautiful flavour. The 4th Course Filet Mignon was amazing. The quality of the meat was excellent, very tender and smooth and not grainy, the meat was perfectly cooked, I asked for med to med-well which is bound to result in a tougher steak, but my filet was perfect, pink on the inside, and very tasty on top. I appreciated that only one side of my filet was seared, not both sides. Sticky Toffee pudding? I only had two bites. Too full by that point. This is an excellent restaurant. The kitchen knows what they are doing. The down side is you don't really have a lot of interaction with your main server who disappeared to take orders from other tables – an overwhelming number by the looks of it.
We came for Christmas Day special menu, because there was roast turkey as the main course. The butternut squash bisque was delicious. There was a considerable wait for our beet salad. Then a loong wait for the turkey. Throughout the staff looked frantic trying to keep up to keep with the plating.
The turkey was not cut from a real carcas but in round preformed slices. Disappointing. The quality of the food was good. Stuffing tasty.
Scallops were lovely. Desserts decadent. Our server was very pleasant but very busy.
I find the design of the four levels feels crowded.
Wonderful way to spend Xmas dinner.
We had the five course Christmas Day dinner. The drinks - Pina colada and virgin Pina coladas were unlike any we have had before -- lemon flavored and watery. Perhaps their bartender had the day off. The soup was delicious. The salad had wilted greens and rancid walnuts. The fish, steak, and turkey entrees were all delicious. The dessert -- a sticky caramel pudding --included a slab of sweetness that could have been left in the kitchen. Service was inattentive; it took a long time for our soups to arrive, the candle on our table was not lit, and it took a long time for our water glasses to be refilled. As the tip totaled $125 Canadian, service could have been better. The ambiance was lovely with a refreshingly low noise level. If the entire meal had reached the level of the soup and entrees and service had been more attentive, it would have been excellent evening.
A very enjoyable Christmas evening dinner. Good choice in selections over the five courses, good service, quality and quantity of food. Wine pairing was exceptional value. Many thanks - good to come away from a restaurant where expectations have been exceeded
The only problem, is that in Christmas eve there was only one 5 courses meal. It was too much food.
Christmas menu consists 5 courses, 1st three dishes were super tiny. Salad and veggie tart were like something you purchased from supermarket. Main dish and dessert were good.
Service was super slow, they were definitely understaffed. I told the waitress my dishes need to be fully cooked since I'm pregnant, she still served me soft cheese on my salad.
Nice place for a business lunch. It's less busy than some of the nearby restaurants so you can have a better conversation. The service was friendly and efficient. The plates were well presented and delicious. They went above and beyond to let one person have half fries and half salad for their side - many other restaurants don't let you do that. It's a bit on the pricey side but typical of a lot of downtown hotel restaurants.
You can't go wrong with Diva. It's slightly overlooked these days but the quality of food and service remains high. It's still one of Vancouver's now-hidden culinary jewels.
Very good food, excellent wine recommendation and good service.
will go again
The food was good but incredibly inconsistent. My coworker and I both ordered crab cakes and hers had 3 cakes and mine had 2. Three of us ordered the diva fries - one came with ketchup only, mine came with ketchup and an aioli and the other one was twice the size with ketchup and two different aiolis. I don’t understand in a table of 6 how there can be so many variances. I would go back because the food was good but the standards add on and portions sizes should be equal.
Sadly what used to be a great restaurant has fallen to become a hotel restaurant. The room itself while the same since opening is fine and functional, but the chairs feel like they are close to breaking and not comfortable. The service staff are trying but the food is just not acceptable for the price point or in keeping with its prior standards. We sent 2 meals back as the prawns were overcooked and the overall taste bad, To be fair to the restaurant, they did no charge us for those meals. Diva needs a redo!
