Diwan at the Aga Khan Museum
When possible, my friends from France and I always attend any new exhibit on during their stay. And part of the visit is a meal at Diwan . It’s such a beautiful space, and their kitchen tailors a menu that reflects the special exhibition taking place. And that food is always delicious.
Wonderful food and atmosphere at this restaurant. Friendly stuff.
Excellent food. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Look forward to going back.
I had never been there before Friday the 22nd but was so impressed I returned with another friend on Saturday the 23rd. In both cases my friends had been there before and were impressed with it too. I intend to recommend it to friends and to return myself. Our server was excelllent, as was the food.
This is excellent food in a very elegant setting. We enjoy coming here for a special treat quite regularly.
Very nice place to go with friends or family. Will do it again soon. Attention was very nice and food delicios.
Absolutely. The waiter was exceptional. He even spoke italian to us and conversed with our friend, well spoken and friendly and helpful. Food was yummy. We made great choices. We would all consider returning. Definitely have already recommended it to friends.
They were wonderfully accommodating and patient with my friend's and my dietary restrictions.
Great restaurant - combine a tasty exotic lunch on a Saturday and Sunday with a gem of a museum.
Very chic restaurant. We all ordered something different and all three meals were delicious and full of flavours.
Overall we had good experience and we enjoyed lunch , however, the restaurant floor looked not vacuumed ,
Excellent staff, professional, answered all our questions. Wonderful that the hand carved wall panels were brought from Damascus to Toronto, beautiful. I was hoping to have been able to purchase the bowls used for shared appetizers ie the beef hummus, the gift shop did not have them and I think they would be rather nice for guests to be able to use at home, great size. Had they been available in the $40-$50 range I would not have hesitated purchasing one or two. I enjoyed the gift shop however the jewellery, scarves etc. are stunning but costly. The museum is a pleasure to tour, this was our third visit and we will continue to bring our out of town guests. Thank you to each and every person who made our visit special.
Food was very flavourful and delicious. Servers were professional, friendly and patient in answering questions about ingredients. Great view of the Ismaili Centre. Wonderful experience and we would absolutely return!
Food and service exceeded our expectations.
Always a special dining experience. Remarkable menu coordination with current exhibition makes for intelligent cultural eating with flair. A great way to explore new cuisines.
Excellent wait staff. I bring friends from different walks of life to Diwan with success.
At first seating for lunch
Assigned seating against a wall and took 20” minutes to confirm
(Table was not reserved - when enquirer for 3rd time, was told by hostess ok w her but server had to agree
Food was excellent however service did not match expectation for Facility managed by Mark McEwan
Hope this comments stimulates change
one of the best middle east restaurants in Canada. Perfect combination of Lebanese and South Asia cuisine
Outstanding service. The food was divine. The venue was stunning. Can’t wait to come again!
The ambience is beautiful. The chicken dish we ordered didn't indicate it was chicken leg. Neither my friend nor I eat chicken leg but didn't have a choice. The lamb kebabs were on skewers. Again, the menu did not state this. It was difficult to eat. The menu needs to be more specific. It was an average experience, overall.
Very interesting menu and great food and service.
Positives: The ambiance, the staff and service, and the setting at the Aga Khan Museum. Stunning.
The appetizer Baba Ganoush was delicious however didnt like the heavily spiced and fried bread and pita slices. Negatives, all of our starters and mains were way too spicy. My sister ordered a beet salad and it was so small, there were like 3 small peices of beets on her plate with a few sprigs of lettuce. That is a rip off for $16. I was so looking forward to going to Diwan as I love middle eastern and African food.
I will not return and will not recommend.
Food and service, excellent. A very LOUD venue, so just be aware. No washrooms in the restaurant itself, but they are located in the museum. Accessible washrooms are only on the lower level.
A lovely restaurant however there was a large group that used a microphone and it was very disruptive. It was a birthday celebration and they didn’t offer a birthday dessert to show appreciation for our patronage and the massive disturbance of the party with a microphone.
Food was delicious and ambiance wonderful!
I would certainly recommend the Diwan to my friends. In fact I took two of them who had never eaten at the Diwan before. Quest what, they also really enjoyed the food. They also liked the fact that it was not at all noisy. So we could talk without screaming at each other. Also the man who was looking after us was very good.
By the time they finished eating they were wanter to come back many other meals.
Food is always great and the atmosphere is wonderful. We especially look forward to seeing Kelly who is our favourite server. She is more like our friend. We also of course find no fault with any of the other servers. We always look forward to our time at the Aga Khan.
Thanks for a memorable afternoon!! The ambiance is wonderful from decor to phenomenal food and superior service. It was an absolute pleasure to celebrate my 50th birthday at the Devine restaurant.
Good experience but expensive. Wonderful cultural environment. Menu trying hard to create east -west hybrid dishes which sometimes do not work out but usually enjoyable
It's a beautiful setting with attentive service. The food is both interesting and very good. My wife and I found the citrus-crusted ahi tuna two ways exceptionally good.
(Menu changes periodically and matches the theme of the main exhibition at the museum)
Overall, highly recommended
Great meal!
Great place amazing architecture and food. Menu changes often and is brilliant. Staff is friendly and attentive. Not a rushed feeling at all. Peaceful elegant delicious food.
The food was amazingly good! Service and ambiance was excellent. Would definitely recommend, a must!
Tasty food, beautiful presentation; friendly service, nice environment -- we enjoy the meal
Music for dining with guests was terrible......jazz music is not what we would call good
dining music....perhaps a violin/cello/piano would be more suitable for a relaxed dinner.
We had to almost shout to each other at one point...the sax was blaring!!!!
We would probably rethink bringing guests for dinner.
I love coming to Diwan and experiencing cuisines from different cultures. I love how their menu changes to reflect the current exhibits and yet our favourites are always a constant. Excellent ambience, courteous staff and great service.
We always enjoy the Diwan for its lovely setting, attentive service and original food. A great place for special occasions such as birthdays or family gatherings. We are never disappointed.
Diwan continues to delight and surprise me with every visit. I try a different entree each time and the kitchen sends the most delicious food, artfully displayed, piping hot and fragrant. Servers are discreet, patient and attentive. this is my go-to restaurant for impressing new friends. Although I love the current menu, I am looking forward to menu changes that will reflect the change in the museum collection. I love the creativity that matches the food to the artifacts on display and welcome the upcoming culinary adventure into West Africa
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would go back again.
Wine list and dessert menu ; disappointing
Beer shown on the menu (Ricard's red) not available.
The ambiance and service at Diwan was outstanding. We very much enjoyed the delicious food!
Diwan has a beautiful view of the Aga Khan Park (an urban oasis) and the Ismaili Centre (an architectural gem with a crystalline dome).
Diwan has an equally beautiful interior decor with 18th century Damascus panels. Food and service is excellent.
