Dockside Restaurant & Brewing Company
The open dining room is relaxed yet refined, wrapped in spectacular floor to ceiling windows, while the lounge offers warm intimate surroundings for evening cocktails. The award-winning patio catches sunlight from morning to late afternoon. Protected on three sides it’s an oasis of calm, disturbed only by the occasional sound of boats making their way along False Creek. Recent renovations have added fireplaces and casual seating areas to this Vancouver destination.

I really enjoyed my time at dockside. It was very nice and relaxed. The service was great and the food was really good too. Not to mention the views.
Nice variety of options. Staff were very friendly and prompt.
Service, food, and drinks were lovely. I had asked for a seat on the patio side that had the lovely black n white curtains and outdoor fire pits, but we were seated on the shady, chilly patio side instead. We also had a extremely noisy table with screaming children sitting next to us, which made the afternoon far less enjoyable (neither parents nor staff were doing anything). Aside from that, the beer was tasty, the food portions are a bit small but excellent quality, and the service was a bit longer than normal. Incredible views!
Great service and fantastic food.
Portion was bigger than I expected, very good values.
Absolutely incredible date night! Wonderful servers and incredible food. Ambience is second to none as far as patios in the city. Coconut cheesecake dessert looked like it was made by Zumbo - delish.
The patio at Dockside is unparalleled in this city and the service staff friendly and professional. That being said, the food was definitely “hit and miss”. We ordered 5 appetizers to share among three people, the serving sizes were exceedingly small especially given the price point. The scallop appetizer consisted of only three small-ish scallops and a few bacon bits; flavour was good but not worth $21. Stay away from the shrimp it is the kitchen that needs improvement.
Beautiful place! Highly recommend
One of the best views in Vancouver for waterfront dining. Interesting menu, excellent service and value. Ideal for residents and tourists to enjoy the best summer has to offer.
Amazing patio layout with great view of the harbour at sunset. Our meals were delicious and the reservation system through Open Table was user friendly and convenient. A nice touch with the lounge area and fire pit near the boardwalk. Overall an amazing restaurant experience.
Great venue and Ryan our server was terrific. It's my second time there in a month or so and Ryan was my server both times. Great guy, food is excellent. Will definitely come back.
I was there for a birthday dinner with my mum and brother. The staff were incredible and made the experience very special! The food was amazing! All in all a truly wonderful evening in a beautiful location!
It was great! Loved it here! Service was great!!!
The food was not good enough for the price.
The reservation request was not provided. I was offered a high level table with high chairs and no heaters around, not tactical.
In the reservation they asked if it was for a special occasion, I entered yes it is a birthday celebration, however nothing was apparently done for that. Not even a good patio table.
Why that was asked? As FYI?
The food was not good, it was Ok-ish. Over priced for what it was.
I appreciated the fact that the manager had not turned on the boom boom music. We could listen to the murmur of conversations and the sounds of the sea. How refreshing!
Very nice and very overworked waiter, took forever to just get water… Which is the way the entire meal went. Arrived 1/2 hour early but not enough bartenders, so we couldn’t even have a drink as we waited. Not that many people order “Gibson’s” so guess they cannot be blamed for the very old cocktail onions. Shared the prime rib which was cooked as we ordered. Unfortunately the side dishes were completely overcooked. This was the long weekend, so maybe that was the problem.
Years ago loved this place, then 3 times in a row was disappointed! Heard it was under new management, so tried again in the last few years. Much better, until the other night for my birthday! Not only will I never use Open Table again for reservations (didn’t relate requests/changes to the restaurant) but very disappointed in the service at Dockside; the food was over salted and my friend that had salad, found it very warm. Atmosphere very loud, including staff slamming cupboards right next to our table. Thankfully no music was playing to add to the noise. We had to yell to hear each other; tile floor doesn’t help with acoustics, but I understand it’s easier to clean. Definitely won’t be going back.😔
The best hidden secret! Both dinner and brunch are delicious. Sit on the patio for a perfect dining ambience and view of the water!
The patio is a hidden gem. I have been here for brunches, dinners and wine tastings. The space is beautiful, the views are great and the service is spectacular. I am Celiac and there are several great, tasty options for me. There are also many delicious vegan options. The staff are really great too!
What a huge disappointment ! The ^toastie’ scallops were the size of a quarter and very few. French fries were appalling
This was a 75th birthday celebration. We celebrate all of our birthdays at dockside and have for over ten years
Reconsidering after this disappointment
Our waiter from Ireland was terrific
We love to take all our out of town/country visitors there. great food and service, spectacular view.
The only challenge is always the parking, but there is little that can be done about that, as it is after all a limited size island.
We had heard about the restaurant, as it had been recommended to us by somebody who knows a good restaurant. Although we saw a few negative reviews, we overlooked them and made a reservation. It all went very smoothly, until it didn’t. The specifics are too numerous to explain, but it had to do with service, timing and food preparation. It finally reached a point where I had to speak to the manager. She was very receptive, listened carefully, and agreed to the fact that they could’ve done a much better job. Both I and my table mates are all in the service business; she and I agreed that unless somebody takes the time to explain when something has gone wrong, the provider might never know. In this case, the manager made it right. Again, the details are unnecessary. We will come again; I’m confident that our experience will be significantly improved.
Dockside Restaurant needs a total makeover menu related as it is totally boring and uninspiring . The service starting with the seating hostess was pathetic as after making an early reservation and being told we could could not reserve a table water side we booked early for a first come table choice . The hostess seated us at the back of the patio even though there were two empty tables water side. When enquiring why these tables were not available we were informed they were reserved. Really so bush league . It took 35 minutes from arrival to get two vodka martinis , we had to go to the bar to get our own drink menus.
We had two cobb salads which I can only say were bland cheap and poorly prepared .
The view is one of the best in town but sadly that does not make up for the unprofessional management.
Get it together Dockside
The waiter began clearing the table before one member of our party (4) had finished. This used to be a no- no; have standards changed?
Told server it was a birthday dinner but wasn’t offered a birthday cake.
The food last weekend was not great, compare to the weekend before. The restaurant was packed, may be the kitchen was not following the pace, but it should not matter, the food quality should be consistent. I will go again because they have a beautiful terrace
I love going there. We sat by a window that was open. The sun was shining and it was an incredible day. Ten food was excellent as always. As was the service. I highly recommend going here
Food and service was great. It did a while to get our food but we were in no rush and the setting was perfect.
You say to "Avoid story-telling or irrelevant details" but it is the details that matter to good restaurants! We were treating out of town guests to a lovely location and pretty restaurant. One of the guests has some food issues, but the kitchen staff would not accommodate any alterations. (In this day and age with knowledge about food allergies and such, that is unbelievable and unacceptable. All that was required would be to leave off some items off the pizza or put them on the side, and the waiter agreed to that). Quite belatedly, two meals arrived about an hour later with the third following relatively close after that. Unfortunately, for the other order (the Bianco pizza with side chicken,) the breast was not ready (weird after that long a wait at a time when the inside restaurant was practically empty and we were the second table dining outside) so that meal came even later. To top it off, quite literally, it had cherry tomatoes on it, one of the items requested NOT to be included. With the long wait, it was not ideal to wait again for another meal order. The shift-changeover waiter surprisingly and not professionally, blamed the waiter who had initially taken the order (not sure that it was even his fault. Then someone else, perhaps the manager, explained that it was busy: it was Not!) Not wanting to ruin the social lunch date, our guest took off all the tomatoes and had to eat his pizza as it came. His meal was deducted, but that did not make the dining experience any better; we were paying for his meal that he did not enjoy! Quite frankly, everyone's meal should have been deducted or perhaps we could have been given a coupon for a future visit to entice any of us to want to return or recommend your restaurant. The other three meals (tuna nicoise, albacore tuna burger, and Hawaiian pizza with no meat) were tasty and we would come back for those....but now, maybe not?!
Awesome food and service. Love sitting outside on the patio on a sunny summer day watching the boats in False Creek. Highly recommend!
Our server was efficient, friendly and made the experience complete. The view (we were on the patio) was lovely and the food was fantastic. Will defiantly go again.
Had reservation arrived 1 hour early. We were accommodated with seating outside. Restaurant was not busy however seated at a table for 2 right beside large group with a baby. When asked if we could move to a larger table answer... unfortunately not. Oddly others arrived In pairs and were seated at larger tables. The server was not very attentive, we had to keep waving him over. Seemed a bit flustered.
Hope our next experience on this patio will be better. Restaurant outside was not busy the entire 4 hours we spent there.
The new chef make the difference, great food with best vancouver terrace
there were four of us and we really enjoyed our meals and the ambiance of the restaurant.
We were in for lunch and were dissappointed there was not a parking attendant until later in the afternoon. As you are aware in the summers parking on the Island is scarce.
Everything else was very good we thoroughly enjoyed the terrific view, the food and the service.
We had a great night on the patio, service and food were excellent. When it got chilly, our server offered to move us into a quiet table inside for dessert and coffee. A nice touch. Dockside is a bit of a hidden gem, we will return and recommend to friends.
This is a lovely place to eat and the food was good. Our waiter was personable, but our main course took more than 50 minutes to arrive. when we inquired about the food our waiter said it was to be ready just after the crab cakes but we did have crab cakes. we did have appetizers but not crab cakes. I believe he forgot to order our order. It was a burger and halibut. Had he said there was a mistake we would not have minded, as we were there for a birthday and had no engagement after lunch. But the lack of acknowledgment was not good. When it took so very long, he should at least have checked if we wanted another drink. Three other sets of patrons who arrived considerably after us were served a significant amount of time before us and had similar orders. It is not the mistake that is at issue, we all make them regularly, it is the manner in which it is handled and the treatment of the patron that makes the difference between a caring and reputable company and one that is careless and all about the benjamins. We will likely find another waterfront establishment for our next culinary outing. Too bad, the setting was outstanding. Thank you for the opportunity to make remarks, it is appreciated. this is the first time I have ever left a less than great review.
One of the worst happy hour choices. Our server Patrick was awful and they seem to shut down happy hour 15 minutes early! Save yourself the disappointment and go to many other better options!
Also, don’t bother complaining to the manager because it’s a complete waste of time.
Avoid this place!
patio is beautiful. food was great. staff was great. didnt rish us
The Dockside is great - both locals and visitors, casual and special occasion. Fun place to people watch, enjoy the view of boats and water and feel the vibrancy of Vancouver.
Our server (unfortunately I didn’t get his name) was incredible! Super friendly and always made sure our glasses were topped and checked in frequently. Food was excellent
