In the 20th century times were simpler, dining out was reasonable, the service was excellent and cooking was an art. My staff and I have tried to capture that ambiance of simple elegance. Our traditional values extend even further: There are no heat lamps or microwaves in our kitchen.     Our first experience dining here was just OK. We were looking forward to a nice Steakhouse experience, but found the food a little lacking. My Filet was delicious and perfectly cooked, but my husbands Ribeye was tough and dry, like it was cooked from frozen. The wait staff came equipped with a penlight to check steaks for correct level of doneness. I found that a little off putting at a higher end establishment. Selection of sides were limited to potatoes, peas or creamed corn unless you paid for an upgrade. Our waitress was very attentive and was probably the best part of the experience. Not sure that I’ll give them another try with all the other options available in Lubbock.

    There were four of us, we had reservations and were seated promptly; got drink orders taken immediately then our meal order a short time later. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and their sides are to die for, HIGHLY Recommended!!

    The food was excellent the service was poor at best. It has not been my previous experience but I have heard it from other friends lately that they had very poor service as well. Waited on our first drinks 20 minutes and they did not bring two of them for another 10 minutes. Waited 45 minutes between salads and our main course. Ordered 2nd round of drinks and waited 15 minutes for it. Hope they get it figured out. I will give them another shot because the food was exceptional but will expect the service to match it.

    Our server (Chris) was amazing. The food was on point, cooked perfectly! It was busy due to tech homecoming. But it was quiet enough to hear. There was no rush feeling what so ever. Didn’t feel like we needed to hurry!

    I ordered a sprite upon arriving. Everyone got their drinks, but no sprite. I ordered sprite 3 times before it was ever brought out. We ordered side salads with our meal and never received them. We ordered 2 NY strips and they were very tough. It seemed like our waitress forgot about us. When checking out, they charged us for the salads we never received.

    Nice ambiance. Good, not great steaks. Server was slow, but very nice. It seemed many things cost extra- bread, a baked potato instead of whipped potatoes, broccoli instead of peas, etc. I thought the prices were a bit too high. The wine selection was limited. I liked that they had a steak choice for kids. Although my family had a nice evening, we probably wouldn’t go back.

    So before I start, I need to mention that it was a parents weekend at Texas Tech, so they probably had more traffic than usual, nevertheless they should have been better prepared. We arrived at the time of our reservation and had to wait 20 minutes for a table. Took them almost 40 minutes to bring us our food. The restaurant was out of linen napkins, so they gave us bar napkins. When we finally got the food, it wasn’t warm. The food itself was tasty. Not once did the manager come out to apologize for the delay/the lack of linen napkins or to offer some comps.

    NEVER AGAIN. 7:45 reservation, showed up early, but wasn’t seated until 8:20. People with 8:00 and 8:15 reservations were seated before a couple of us with 7:45’s. Hostesses were rude, had absolutely no idea what they were doing. Food was good, service was terrible. I ordered a drink once seated, and was told they only had 1 bar tender, so it would probably be a while (it was…took 20 minutes to get a glass of wine). Waitress recommended ordering everything at once, including dessert, to save time. I’ve never felt so rushed in my life. Steak was good, nowhere near great. Not sure what all of the hype about this place is. Wouldn’t return under any circumstance. Way better options in town, like the Funky Door and Las Brisas.

    Bring a power bar and water while you wait!!! Had reservations for 3, got seated 30 minutes late to a table with just salt & pepper shakers and a little piece of lettuce from the last diners stuck to the table. We were starving & I wish I had a power bar. Waited 30 min more just for waters & 45 min for our cocktails to be served. Our server said they were so busy they ran out of clean glasses! Then, when our salads finally arrived we then had to wait another 10 minutes just staring at the salads in front of us until they brought us silverware, and we had to ask twice. Meal was fine, nothing spectacular. We ordered a rib eye, NY strip & salmon. We felt awful for our waiter! He was so busy and had so many tables we actually saw him break out into a jog a couple times and he was definitely flustered and sweating. In fact, all of the servers were running around stressed out. It was not enjoyable to watch and not a relaxing meal. Granted it was parents weekend, but shame on Double Nickel for not spacing out reservations better and staffing appropriately. Incredibly slow service & overall a huge disappointment! Note that I did ask for the 2 cocktails to be removed from the bill since they took forever to arrive and I appreciate the immediate accommodation, but I still feel ripped off having paid over $200 for 3 people for this poor experience.

    We always go to the Double Nickel when we come to town. Usually a great experience, but this time my wife had to send her steak back due to it being overcooked, and it took 20 minutes to get another one. She ended up having to eat alone because of her rest of us had already finished our meals. No manager to check in on us or apologize and no offer of any discount. Service was ok, but overall disappointed and not sure if we’ll be back.

    The appetizers, salads, main course, sides, and dessert were all amazing. My girlfriend and I went on a Monday, so we got to enjoy live music as well. The waiter was great, and the overall dinner was very romantic. Would come again for another special evening!

    Absolutely the most romantic dinner my husband and I have ever had. The restaurant ambience is so romantic. Dim lit lights, quiet, and soft playing Sinatra music. The food was amazing. From the appetizer all the way to the dessert. Was such an amazing night.

    We have dined here several times and had much better experiences in the past. We had a reservation, but for some unexplained reason they seated us in the bar, even though it looked like tables were available in the dining area. Service was incredibly slow. The wait staff explained that was because they had a big party in the meeting room. I think that if the restaurant can't handle regular service while they're hosting a big party, they should shut down the restaurant. Also, the music was nice, but it was a little loud because we were seated in the bar instead of the main dining area.

    Absolutely the best food in lubbock. Was reccomended by a friend in clovis. Best reccomendation ever. Salmon and fillet mignon were cooked to precision. Spinach rockefeller was the best of over 11countries ive had it in. Will reccomend and bring friends and family. Carter my man. You are the best. Thanks for making my wifes birthday great and special .
