We booked online via the OpenTable app for later that same day. We booked about around 11am and the reservation was for 4.30. Though the bar didn't have our reservation the guy we spoke to was friendly enough and said he could probably seat us anyway, which he did. We realise why this was possible because the roast dinners run out around 2pm. We didn't know this and our sole reason for booking was to secure a roast! We didn't fancy any of the other options - usual pub fair - burgers, sandwiches, maybe even fish n chips, so we left after our drink. Apparently if we'd booked the day before we could have "ordered" our roast and it would have been saved for us but otherwise, a set amount is made and when it's gone it's gone. Not great sadly when food is served until 7pm. Prices are a bit on the top heavy side too. £3 (of which we had two, because we were starving in anticipation of our roast) for a small bucket of hand-cut chips. Where do these guys think they are, London?? On the whole a bit of a disappointment, though it won't stop me going there as it's a great pub and I've been going for, oooh about 30 years, since first opened as a pub back in the late mid-late 80s. It's an institution.
