Had a reso at 9 and didn’t get seated until 940. The staff was super friendly and the food was delicious but waiting that long for a 9PM reso is absolutely ridiculous.
The restaurant was trendy and the staff very attentive. Unfortunately the food was not good. Also expect to pay $18/25 and up for a glass of wine.
I hadn't been to PEC for a number of years. My first time at the Drake. It's a beautiful setting on the water. Food choices was good. Quality of food was good. Our server was rather unfriendly which is too bad because it affected my rating. I would recommend to friends and would return and hope for a better experience next time.
We enjoyed our meal. The food was good, service was quick and polite. It’s a great balance of a larger restaurant but yet still felt cozy. They also balance a modern and traditional feel.
Always a tasty meal with great service. Tip: get a reservation as there is always a line!
Our party enjoyed our meals although we were a bit disappointed that it was a limited brunch menu instead of lunch at 1pm. That was not clear on their website.
The service was absolutely outstanding. Our server offered great recommendations of wineries to visit in the area.
Great space and food was very good. Our reservation was 745pm and at 746 we got a call asking g if we would be late... we were parking! Our server was very friendly.
the service was not up to par with previous visits, we were seated in a dark corner and had to ask
to move to an empty table. with many empty tables to pick from. The food was not fresh (smelts).
I do not mind paying for good service and good food, but this was not a great experience for my wife's
55 birthday and visiting from Calgary.
Amazing fried chicken and waffles served from pleasant and accommodating people
Best breakfast in PEC. Worth the hype. The atmosphere is just so different and hip, and staff aim to please.
Our server was angry and rude, inattentive and treated us like we were inconveniencing her. We travelled from Hamilton for a special evening and it effectively ruined our night. Loved everything else about the spot though!
I booked a reservation at the Drake Devonshire the first day that I was able to considering that the restaurant only takes reservations 30 days in advance. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were seated in a side room off of the main dining room. The main room is beautifully decorated - it is airy, has beautiful lighting and is flanked by a well-designed bar. The room we were in was more like a hallway. We were right beside the computer that servers used to put in their orders and what looked to be a prep area. It had very little ambiance, especially considering what the main room had to offer. We were very disappointed, especially considering we booked so far in advance. We asked to be moved and after 30 minutes we were - to the raised area off of the main dining room to a table in the corner. The table was very nice. However, we seemed to be a little forgotten and as a result, the service was not great. Unfortunately we also did not enjoy the food. We had high expectations - we have eaten at the Drake Hotel and Drake 150 and have really enjoyed the food. The food we ordered was lacklustre and did not have a lot of flavour. We do not usually add extra salt to our food, but had to ask our server to bring some because the seafood/grits and the fish were unseasoned and tasteless. We also had to ask for freshly ground pepper - something that was not offered intially. We enjoyed our night out - it was our anniversary and we were happy to be together. However, overall, the Drake Devonshire under-performed.
We had a brunch reservation for 6. We had to wait because our table was at Ready which is fired. The hostess told us to go look around the hotel. With that got kicked out of the hotel by the receptionist and had to wait in front of the receptionist area. For meals, half of us our meals didn’t come out correct. They had no baked beans left, but no one told us and replaced it with a strawberry and a slice of orange, not what we wanted. 4 people ordered eggs Benedict and all the eggs and hollandaise sauce were cold. One eggs Benedict was served with mushrooms, not ham and had to get replaced.
Don’t bother with this place if you are vegetarian. The entree was just squash nothing else. Wait staff was busy elsewhere and took forever
Our dining experience was less than satisfactory. I ordered a Pinot Grigio and got a Pinot Gris. I kept it not to inconvenience anyone but did not enjoy the wine. The food was expensive for what you received. The dining area was extremely loud. We could barely carry a conversation with each other. I would not rush back.
We enjoyed our drinks/food and time spent at the venue. The Host and our server was amazing! Unfortunately, the food wasn’t anything out of ordinary and over-priced. Also if you like old fashions, order it off the drink menu vs. dessert menu... :) we noticed there are a couple of drinks that cost more at dessert - huh? Hope that was a miss-print. Would be interesting for art installations to connect to the area/ wine or have a story.
Beautiful setting on the lake, and great ambience, service & food. Our appetizers were small and not notable for the price, but the entrees were outstanding!
We had such a great experience. Our server Rosalie was so helpful with food and wine choices (she chose the most delicious bottle! We loved it) and even suggestions for things to do in the area during our stay. Our corner table was perfect. It was easy to talk to one another and everything we tried was fresh and delicious. It was difficult to decide what to order as everything on the menu was so tempting. Thank you for a great evening.
Decent food but very overpriced, especially for the area. It's a lovely setting with a nice view of the lake.
Good menu. Service can be hit and miss - our order was missed and it took 2 hours. I have been many times and the food is generally good, great ambience and views. Make reservations
A lovely view and fantastic food. It was a perfect brunch spot.
We loved the location, the decor, our waitress was fantastic but the food was just fair. I would consider returning in the summer time because of the amazing location on the water.
We had a wonderful experience dining at the Drake Devonshire Inn for our 1st year Anniversary. The food was incredible and the restaurant kindly offered us a sweet treat as a Congrats. I highly recommend this restaurant - it was an absolute pleasure to eat there and the view is amazing too.
Such a cute and cozy place in the beach! I went this weekend (October) and it was dark early and cold outside. My sister and I arrived early and thought maybe they’d have a place we could sit outside and have a drink before our reservations. Well of course they did! A fire pit on the beach and we got a hot apple cider with whisky (one of the drinks they make) and enjoyed that by the fire! After her and I each buying a round of drinks for each other we realized we’d spent $75 already! Drinks are PRICEY! When it came to dinner, it was really good with a small menu! We decided to share two appetizers. My sister got the crabcakes and I got the French onion soup. When the food arrived they brought two bowls of soup and on top of crabcakes - so one too many soups! The waitress was great and said she wouldn’t charge us. The soup wasn’t good at all! We both agreed we made better French onion soup at home ourselves. But the croutons and cheese were delicious. My sisters salmon salad was mediocre somewhat boring looking but she said it was good! I had a pasta with wild boar and it was good but nothing crazy! Oh and the seating isn’t that comfortable either.
In the end beauty and the coziness of this spot are worth the evening to the Drake Devonshire
Overpriced and overrated. Cool vibes but the food was horrible. We ordered a pizza to pick up on our way home before we had even left.
Our lunch for 2 couples was good. The view was spectacular - great sunny day with big waves on the lake. I found there not to be enough choice on the menu for lighter lunch items. The food service was somewhat slow ( the restaurant was not terribly busy for a Friday afternoon.). My partner enjoyed his scallops very much. A bit expensive for a lunch and only two had drinks.
We had an excellent meal with excellent service. The view of the lake is wonderful. We will be back for sure.
Even a pretentious restaurant should try to offer value for the food. $8 for a half a cup of duck mousse (that was not pate as advertised) is a bit much when you need to buy the bread separately.
The Drake Devonshire is a must-visit in PEC but frankly, it’s only for the amazing decor. The food is honestly just OK. Breakfast is probably the best meal. The service is best described as “emotionally detached”, there... but not really (serves lukewarm coffee in a freezing room, zero awareness of customer comfort). Everyone seems busy being busy, which I expect in Toronto not here. A bit sad for such a quaint place such as PEC.
I wish they had a yes/no option box on would I recommend this restaurant. While the ambiance is very nice the service was poor. They messed up my reservation. Automatically moved us from the main restaurant to the pavilion - even though I booked months in advance. And then only offered a Brunch menu (it wasn’t Sunday - it was Saturday). On a positive note they did follow up with a phone call to help understand my disappointment over this reservation).
Great spot with awesome food options. We also had a server named Max who was fantastic! Would definitely recommend.
Great Service for our Anniversary! Our server was exquisite! She helped us make changes for food allergies without any hesitation and was on the ball with offering other options for different foods throughout the evening. We will be back!
It’s a nice location with good view and food but nothing exceptional. We were expecting something a bit nicer in general. The receptionist looked at us from head to toe with a disapproving face. We were dressed for the cold but it was appropriate for the place and the crowd there.
The temperature was a bit cold and a wasp was flying around our food while we were eating. Our coffees were barely warm but the food was tasty.
Hip escape from the city. Great cocktails, good food, gorgeous view. We come a couple times a year when we want something special. Take your time, sip a mixed drink and enjoy.
Great location, service is top notch and food is delicious. The decor and view were perfect.
Great location with amazing view of the lake. Lots of art pieces to look at, and a more game room. Food was okay, could have been better. Nice fireplace on the patio, and they had the camp fire going near the lake. Worth the drive and visit. Would recommend this place for drinks and apps.
Loved it - worth the drive!
We arrived at this restaurant with great anticipation, having gained such an impression of the warmth and welcome of the The Drake Hotel which was vastly renovated and given a new calling in 2014. We had known it in it’s former iteration and we had a nostalgic attachment to the gorgeous setting, having celebrated with friends and family there.
The hotel is an art experience that must be lived and also for the engaging hospitality of the staff. The restaurant fronts the water with full height windows overlooking the lake. Service is efficient. There is a great effort to feature local ingredients on the menu. Executive chef Alexandra puts a creative spin on classic favourites. The Caesar salad had a local and seasonal feel with plump kernels of lightly pickled corn and brightly striped thin slices of crunchy beets. The plate of scallops with grits brought many welcome and happy surprises for my table companion. There was great attention to texture and bright elements of savoury, including the creaminess of the grits as well as the silken, tender loveliness of the collard greens, with the perfectly caramelized onion which gave an aromatic burst to the dish. And the scallops gave just enough resistance as they melted in the mouth.
Because the site of this hotel is furnished with so many inciting spaces, it is really a must to save time before and after dinner to stroll about the hotel and grounds. It is a delight for the senses. We lucked out and experience the brief sojourn of some migrating geese as they took their ease on the coastal water.
Put this place on your list.
Note: For special food needs/requests give plenty of notice and let the hospitality team connect you with the chef’s team.
Wonderful service from Chris. Knowledgeable and personable. He was also very good with our young son. Perfect ambiance and beautiful decor. We will be back again and again!
Nice ambiance. Waitress was very good. Food was very disappointing.
