Fantastic brunch in the most relaxed, care free environment. Never felt rushed, and was able to have in of the best dinning experiences!
Great dinner - good sized portions so one does not feel ripped off as in many Toronto restaurants. Prices are reasonable for the quality and inexpensive related to quantity. The outdoor roasted chicken is superb - as is steak tartar. Steak looked good based on what we saw on other tables.
Drinks are a little bit prices but wine is in line with other establishments.
Staff is excellent in every conceivable way. Down to earth, friendly, knowledgeable - what else can one say?
Wine list is good with good selection of County wines.
Very comfortable - one can really relax in this place. Kick back and enjoy the experience. Everything top Toronto restaurants offer without the stress and pretensions from the place or staff.
No question we will be back.
We had a great meal
The scenary is enchanting. The Lake looks like the sea, it has a Maine feeling to it, like nowhere else in prince edward county. The decor is very modern and fresh, a must if you are in the area.
Had a great time, proposed to my girlfriend right before this and she loved going here for dinner after that.
Snacks menu good be a lot more comforting. Lunch and dinner menu should overlap, no snacks menu. They couldn't bring themselves to wish my wife a happy birthday (not big deal) but, the little things.
The ambience is reminiscent of a Drake experience.
Contemporary art, meets classic marble features, with wooden accents.
The service was lack lustre as we found ourselves ordering beverages, that took on average 20 minutes to find their way to our table, in what appeared to be a not very busy restaurant where
the staff outnumbered the guests.
We then moved to ordering appetizers in which our charcuterie was delivered with very little product knowledge.
The two servers hovered over our board, touching, and, breathing on the delicacies trying to guess at the products with very little certainty.
After fingering our entire board the two decided to go and check with the kitchen and ascertain some understanding as to what the ingredients were; though by this point our concern was not of what was on the board but how many more times the staff were going to contaminate our dish.
We then ordered Oysters which were dropped off by a runner with a smile. Which was okay but typically when served oysters you are given regions and brine profiles. No biggie.
Fast forward to mains.
I ordered the “aged” striploin and our server forgot to ask how I liked my steak cook.
Upon returning he admitted his folly and inquired to which I responded - “Medium Rare”...
With a nod and what seemed to be a look that indicated the message had been received, he was off once again to ignore our wine order.
Steak arrives... looks nice. Covered in weird mushroom gravy.
I cut a piece off of the corner to reveal a blue cold steak. The staff took the steak back and apologized.
10 minutes later it returns with soggy fries and more mushroom sauce, and the corner piece I cut was missing. They microwaved the steak... and it was still less than rare.
Upon further observation, the staff were very fidgety and affectionate towards one another.
There must have been a cold going around because the majority of staff couldn’t stop touching their noses...
3/10 at best
This restaurant has a great ambiance. The food was good with some interesting dishes....i would definitely go back.
We came during countylicious so the fixed menu was amazing and definitely affordable. Staff was incredibly friendly and the hotel has a very cool vibe. We will come back!
Service is getting much better
We were there for the Brunch menu and all was good
Ambiance is still great along with a wonderful view
Had a reso at 9 and didn’t get seated until 940. The staff was super friendly and the food was delicious but waiting that long for a 9PM reso is absolutely ridiculous.
The restaurant was trendy and the staff very attentive. Unfortunately the food was not good. Also expect to pay $18/25 and up for a glass of wine.
I hadn't been to PEC for a number of years. My first time at the Drake. It's a beautiful setting on the water. Food choices was good. Quality of food was good. Our server was rather unfriendly which is too bad because it affected my rating. I would recommend to friends and would return and hope for a better experience next time.
We enjoyed our meal. The food was good, service was quick and polite. It’s a great balance of a larger restaurant but yet still felt cozy. They also balance a modern and traditional feel.
Always a tasty meal with great service. Tip: get a reservation as there is always a line!
Our party enjoyed our meals although we were a bit disappointed that it was a limited brunch menu instead of lunch at 1pm. That was not clear on their website.
The service was absolutely outstanding. Our server offered great recommendations of wineries to visit in the area.
Great space and food was very good. Our reservation was 745pm and at 746 we got a call asking g if we would be late... we were parking! Our server was very friendly.
the service was not up to par with previous visits, we were seated in a dark corner and had to ask
to move to an empty table. with many empty tables to pick from. The food was not fresh (smelts).
I do not mind paying for good service and good food, but this was not a great experience for my wife's
55 birthday and visiting from Calgary.
Amazing fried chicken and waffles served from pleasant and accommodating people
Best breakfast in PEC. Worth the hype. The atmosphere is just so different and hip, and staff aim to please.
Our server was angry and rude, inattentive and treated us like we were inconveniencing her. We travelled from Hamilton for a special evening and it effectively ruined our night. Loved everything else about the spot though!
I booked a reservation at the Drake Devonshire the first day that I was able to considering that the restaurant only takes reservations 30 days in advance. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were seated in a side room off of the main dining room. The main room is beautifully decorated - it is airy, has beautiful lighting and is flanked by a well-designed bar. The room we were in was more like a hallway. We were right beside the computer that servers used to put in their orders and what looked to be a prep area. It had very little ambiance, especially considering what the main room had to offer. We were very disappointed, especially considering we booked so far in advance. We asked to be moved and after 30 minutes we were - to the raised area off of the main dining room to a table in the corner. The table was very nice. However, we seemed to be a little forgotten and as a result, the service was not great. Unfortunately we also did not enjoy the food. We had high expectations - we have eaten at the Drake Hotel and Drake 150 and have really enjoyed the food. The food we ordered was lacklustre and did not have a lot of flavour. We do not usually add extra salt to our food, but had to ask our server to bring some because the seafood/grits and the fish were unseasoned and tasteless. We also had to ask for freshly ground pepper - something that was not offered intially. We enjoyed our night out - it was our anniversary and we were happy to be together. However, overall, the Drake Devonshire under-performed.
We had a brunch reservation for 6. We had to wait because our table was at Ready which is fired. The hostess told us to go look around the hotel. With that got kicked out of the hotel by the receptionist and had to wait in front of the receptionist area. For meals, half of us our meals didn’t come out correct. They had no baked beans left, but no one told us and replaced it with a strawberry and a slice of orange, not what we wanted. 4 people ordered eggs Benedict and all the eggs and hollandaise sauce were cold. One eggs Benedict was served with mushrooms, not ham and had to get replaced.
Don’t bother with this place if you are vegetarian. The entree was just squash nothing else. Wait staff was busy elsewhere and took forever
Our dining experience was less than satisfactory. I ordered a Pinot Grigio and got a Pinot Gris. I kept it not to inconvenience anyone but did not enjoy the wine. The food was expensive for what you received. The dining area was extremely loud. We could barely carry a conversation with each other. I would not rush back.
We enjoyed our drinks/food and time spent at the venue. The Host and our server was amazing! Unfortunately, the food wasn’t anything out of ordinary and over-priced. Also if you like old fashions, order it off the drink menu vs. dessert menu... :) we noticed there are a couple of drinks that cost more at dessert - huh? Hope that was a miss-print. Would be interesting for art installations to connect to the area/ wine or have a story.
Beautiful setting on the lake, and great ambience, service & food. Our appetizers were small and not notable for the price, but the entrees were outstanding!
We had such a great experience. Our server Rosalie was so helpful with food and wine choices (she chose the most delicious bottle! We loved it) and even suggestions for things to do in the area during our stay. Our corner table was perfect. It was easy to talk to one another and everything we tried was fresh and delicious. It was difficult to decide what to order as everything on the menu was so tempting. Thank you for a great evening.
Decent food but very overpriced, especially for the area. It's a lovely setting with a nice view of the lake.
Good menu. Service can be hit and miss - our order was missed and it took 2 hours. I have been many times and the food is generally good, great ambience and views. Make reservations
A lovely view and fantastic food. It was a perfect brunch spot.
We loved the location, the decor, our waitress was fantastic but the food was just fair. I would consider returning in the summer time because of the amazing location on the water.
We had a wonderful experience dining at the Drake Devonshire Inn for our 1st year Anniversary. The food was incredible and the restaurant kindly offered us a sweet treat as a Congrats. I highly recommend this restaurant - it was an absolute pleasure to eat there and the view is amazing too.
Such a cute and cozy place in the beach! I went this weekend (October) and it was dark early and cold outside. My sister and I arrived early and thought maybe they’d have a place we could sit outside and have a drink before our reservations. Well of course they did! A fire pit on the beach and we got a hot apple cider with whisky (one of the drinks they make) and enjoyed that by the fire! After her and I each buying a round of drinks for each other we realized we’d spent $75 already! Drinks are PRICEY! When it came to dinner, it was really good with a small menu! We decided to share two appetizers. My sister got the crabcakes and I got the French onion soup. When the food arrived they brought two bowls of soup and on top of crabcakes - so one too many soups! The waitress was great and said she wouldn’t charge us. The soup wasn’t good at all! We both agreed we made better French onion soup at home ourselves. But the croutons and cheese were delicious. My sisters salmon salad was mediocre somewhat boring looking but she said it was good! I had a pasta with wild boar and it was good but nothing crazy! Oh and the seating isn’t that comfortable either.
In the end beauty and the coziness of this spot are worth the evening to the Drake Devonshire
Overpriced and overrated. Cool vibes but the food was horrible. We ordered a pizza to pick up on our way home before we had even left.
Our lunch for 2 couples was good. The view was spectacular - great sunny day with big waves on the lake. I found there not to be enough choice on the menu for lighter lunch items. The food service was somewhat slow ( the restaurant was not terribly busy for a Friday afternoon.). My partner enjoyed his scallops very much. A bit expensive for a lunch and only two had drinks.
We had an excellent meal with excellent service. The view of the lake is wonderful. We will be back for sure.
Even a pretentious restaurant should try to offer value for the food. $8 for a half a cup of duck mousse (that was not pate as advertised) is a bit much when you need to buy the bread separately.
The Drake Devonshire is a must-visit in PEC but frankly, it’s only for the amazing decor. The food is honestly just OK. Breakfast is probably the best meal. The service is best described as “emotionally detached”, there... but not really (serves lukewarm coffee in a freezing room, zero awareness of customer comfort). Everyone seems busy being busy, which I expect in Toronto not here. A bit sad for such a quaint place such as PEC.
I wish they had a yes/no option box on would I recommend this restaurant. While the ambiance is very nice the service was poor. They messed up my reservation. Automatically moved us from the main restaurant to the pavilion - even though I booked months in advance. And then only offered a Brunch menu (it wasn’t Sunday - it was Saturday). On a positive note they did follow up with a phone call to help understand my disappointment over this reservation).
