Food was delicious! Our server was very friendly and helpful. Very fascinating artwork and huge windows to see the waves crashing on the beach. Bright and open.
Beautiful location. Excellent food. Wonderful service.
If you wish to have a meal with a spectacular meal, I would recommend coming to Drake Devonshire Inn. Otherwise, I find the food rather over-priced and of mediocre quality.
No lunch menu at 1:00pm on a Saturday, brunch only and not accomodating at all.
Waiter was rude and brought the bill before removing the plates from the table. I have never been that insulted in a restaurant. We ate and left in under an hour, although we were initially planning to stay by the lake the full afternoon.
We were going for our wedding anniversary, thrilled to experience The Drake atmosphere and taste and we left with is a bitter taste in our mouth. Really disappointed.
Food was good, but a bit on the cold side (including tea/coffee). Rating the service poor as our server had attitude (quite rude and bit sarcastic.).
Great service, pretty views of the water and tasty food.
Had our anniversary dinner at the Drake. View was very nice on the patio. Enjoyed watching a few weddings taking place nearby. Unfortunately, the seating was uncomfortable and the staff were very snobby. We often felt uncomfortable as we tried to have a conversation with the staff. Food was okay but did not live up to our expectations. I don't think we would return sadly.
We loved everything except the fact that we were freezing indoors and had to resort to wrapping ourselves in the proffered blankers.
we love going to the drake on the lake because of the atmosphere and its just so fun, but the food just isnt that great. Everything is so heavy and greasy. Why not make like a funky cobb salad with all local ingredients? something like that? Needs Healthier options
Excellent food. The restaurant lacks an identity. High quality food/price but a pub style feeling with tables too close and volume too loud. A place I would go to for a drink and apps with friends but not elegant dinner.
Went there for my birthday, had a great time, decor was modern and beautiful. Very delicious food and drinks. Desserts were insanely delicious. Definitely coming back soon!
Lovely space. View is wonderful and the vibe casual but stylish. Sit outside if at all possible. I was very pleased with my food - order the white bolognese! Only hitch was service - our server was a bit odd and not overly attentive. Otherwise great and would definitely go back again.
Our waitress was excellent. She specially made a sandwich for my wife who is expecting and had a craving for something not on the menu. She was awesome.
The food was excellent, and the non-alcoholic cocktails were great!
I wish our reservation allowed us to be outside, but the current rules are first come first served.
Perhaps we missed the note that said they don't offer a full lunch menu on the weekend. We reserved in advance and also confirmed the reservation online the day before but we were never told about the limited weekend menu. We were therefore quite disappointed with the limited choice, especially that this was to be an anniversary.
Drake Devonshire was an amazing experience. To be able to look at out at the lake while enjoying our lunch was fantastic. The blueberry scones were a fantastic starter and are super delicious. I would highly recommend the scones to start. The avocado toast was colourful and the avocado was perfectly ripe. The pancakes were also extremely fluffy and sweet enough without the syrup. I cannot wait to go back to the Devonshire for my next meal.
Too hot. Poor air conditioning cause apparently it was on full.
Requested menu item not available (peppercorn steak & frit).
Over priced. Expected much more in the building itself and decor. Thank goodness located on water frontage. Parking does not exist if you are not staying at the inn.
Great food and atmosphere! Crab cakes are to die for!
Loved the atmosphere and food! Their waterfront patio is stunning!
Service wasn't very friendly; came across as rude. Beautiful view and hotel. definitely worth visiting if you haven't been. But unless the service improves, I won't be going back on my own (only if showing someone new around the county).
Food here isn’t the greatest and is a little overpriced. Our food was cold.
The view and the vibe are to go for!
Very disappointing. We kicked ourselves that we wasted an evening here with so many other great places in the area.
Service was almost non-existent and food was meh.
I would not recommend this spot for anything more than a quick bite and drinks on the patio - there are far better destinations in the area.
We had a great time at the Drake. Andrew was our server and he was super nice, attentive and overall fantastic at taking care of us. The food was delicious! Drinks were great. I would go back!
Amazing location. Friendly service. Scallops and grits mouthwatering. BUT, one big downside. The steak. For 50 dollars you expect better. This was definitely not a 50 dollar steak. Extremely subpar and cheap fries as the only side. Very disappointing. All other food looked amazing so I would recommend taking the steak off the menu or lower the price considerably. If you’ve ever been to an upscale steak house and paid 50-60 dollars for a steak you will be sadly disappointed with the Steak entree at The Drake. Asked for medium- rare and got well done. You should be able to cook a steak properly if you charge 50 dollars. So go for the amazing atmosphere, great location and friendly service but avoid the steak.
My family and I went for brunch on Canada Day. I thought the food was good. I’m not a foodie, but I must say that everything from the bacon to the eggs was a little undercooked for my liking. I suppose I could have specified drier eggs vs runny or crispy bacon vs soggy, but I assumed that my preferences were the standard. Next time, I won’t make the same mistake. Our service was decent
but left much to be desired. But that view! I was with it to make the trip just be a part of it all.
Bachelorette party. They did nothing special and the food wasn’t great
Very enjoyable experience. Great location, good food!
Three of us had lunch on the Thursday before the Canada Day long weekend. The setting is great, right on the lake. The restaurant was noisy. The food was fine but so expensive for what it is.
After lunch we wandered around the grounds and looked at the art. So great that the Drake Devonshire supports the arts.
The dinner was quite disappointing. The food it’s self was quite tasty, however for fine dining prices the service was very poor. We received our food before our wine and had to ask again for it, my husbands steak was over cooked and no one checked on us to see if our food was good, we had to flag down a passing server. I asked for salt which didn’t come and I had to ask again. The new steak came and the server said they would check to see how it was, they didn’t, thankfully it was fine. We ordered dessert and coffee, the dessert came but we had to ask for the coffee again. We only had one refill on our water the whole time and the glasses were empty for most of the meal. When we asked for the bill it took a long time, we could see the server just standing, we almost asked for it again but it came. Thankfully the dessert we shared was taken of the bill because of the steak which we appreciate. We won’t be back for dinner, maybe a cocktail at the bar as it’s a nice looking place with a great view. It was a shame.
We enjoyed ourselves- I had roast chicken- my friend had the pickerel. Both delicious- but the portions were CRAZY small. While tasty- I was shocked at how little food was on the plate
Like all Drakes, it's too expensive for the quality of the food and the waiters and hosts are family restaurant quality
SERVICE WAS BAD. TABLES TOO CLOSE TOGETHER, COULD HEAR OTHER PEOPLES CONVERSATION. FOOD OVERPRICED FOR WHAT IT WAS.
Fantastic spot, great decor but food was sub-par for the price.
Food was amazing, but the service was terrible. Our table of 2 was neglected in favour of the big groups of bachelorette parties surrounding us. The server didn't say a word to us from the moment we ordered until after we had finished our meals (nearly an hour). It took 30 minutes for a cocktail to arrive and I had to remind the server I had ordered it. We also sat with empty appetizer dishes in front of us for 20 minutes after we had finished eating... they were still sitting there when our mains arrived.
Despite this, the food and cocktails were flavourful, creative, and quickly put together. I think we got unlucky with our server, but would have given this a 5-star rating if it were simply for the food.
Our brunch at the Drake Devonshire was an all-around lovely experience! Our server was friendly and attentive, the food was delicious, and the view was beautiful.
There was a couple of bachelorette groups the night we came for dinner and the waiter told us it was the reason why the service was in a rush. My husband and I didn’t even have the time to finish our cocktail and the appetizer was already on the table. Same thing with the main course which arrived when we were half way in the appetizer. It’s a bit sad to feel rushed to eat and leave when you’re in vacation and coming to your restaurant was something we were thrilled to experience. It was still a good time but the service should be improved on that level.
very beautiful place and view over the lake but the experience is somewhat tarnished by an overpriced menu that does very little to distinguish itself. while the food was good enough, nothing about the experience was new or inventive.
i ordered the lamb tartar with fried oysters and the lamb overly salted was and the oyster batter was bland.
the burger seemed to be quite popular and was offered at a more reasonable price.
Found the food portions very small and very overpriced. I had the Pickerel which was presented nicely and was tasty. My friends had the burgers which were ‘just ordinary’ burgers. The guacamole and chips was small and we were charged an extra $1 for a few more chips?!?
Wine prices ..a little outrageous!
One nice thing was our waiter..he was very helpful and friendly🤗
We enjoyed the site very much and the view is great.
Our server wasn’t great (forgot menus twice, one meal missing a piece, brought a meal that contained ingredients that were on the allergy list) but everything else was!
