The perfect place for brunch! It was my first time in Canada for my birthday and I’m so glad it wasn’t raining so we could have brunch in the sky yard ! Service was amazing, food was amazing. Will definitely be a place I will always have to go if I’m ever in Canada !
Food was terrible. Service was slow. Way too expensive and overrated. I will not return.
We had breakfast, eggs Benedict and it was cold not even warm. Very disappointed as I brought 3 guests. Definitely not the standard I am accustomed to at the Drake properties.
Amazing foodie experience with a varied menu that is great for sharing. The lounge has wonderful ambiance and the outside patio is equally hip. Service was outstanding and the value was also reasonable with portions being generous. Will definitely return for more dining experiences at The Drake!
Used to be so much better. Don’t like eating in the cafe. When we booked for brunch expected the restaurant. Food was cold but plates were boiling hot. Very odd.
Server was not friendly and did not make us feel comfortable. Food and ambience was perfect
The restaurant was booked for a private event so we had to sit outside which we did not want because of the noise level . Would have been nice to know before booking for a quiet dinner for someone’s birthday.
Not a good experience , will not be back.
I probably don’t need to go back. There are nicer places in Toronto who deserve my hard earned money.
Also the washrooms were very dirty, and one washroom not working, so only one ladies room available for such a large restaurant. Food and service not up to par at all!
Shawn, our waiter, was awesome! He really helped make our experience at The Drake Hotel memorable. He gave us complimentary glasses of bubbly since we were celebrating my best friends birthday. The drinks were amazing the food was very yummy. The vibe was awesome!
We had the brunch menu and the pancakes and savory tart were amazing. Very fresh!
Food was great, service was terrible. If the service was better I might return.
Food was mediocre, nice environment, server was nice.
Great atmosphere, great service! Loved the rooftop patio.
Great spot for lunch in Toronto! We took a spot on the patio, but we kind of regretted not going inside with the construction that was going on outside on King St. The food was good - we both at the mushroom pasta. It was not the best pasta I've ever had, but it was good and the price was reasonable. Our waitress was very friendly and we had a good time chatting with her. I guess that's not really the restaurant's fault, but there was a creepy old man who was also eating on the patio who STARED the entire time at me and my friend and he was literally undressing us from his eyes - not The Drake's fault, but it was creepy and kind of ruined our lunch. Overall love The Drake, but I think it's better for a weekend brunch than for a weekday lunch!
Absolutely love the artwork on the rooftop patio. Very tropical and relaxing!
Was told there would be no problem getting on the sky yard for our anniversary even though they don’t take resos. Arrive and told there’s a private event at sky yard and that we can’t get onto the other patio. Taken into restaurant that basically looks like a cross between a club and a sports bar (TVs directly in front of our table). Spent $40 for a steak that was served pre cut with a side of under cooked potato wedges. Even the staff were dressed like they worked in a sports bar. Very disappointed. Won’t be back and won’t be recommending. They seem to take your reso and tell you whatever you want to hear. Has happened once before as well.
At that time, restaurant was booked by a group of people, so we couldn't use the restaurant. We used cafe seat.
I love the Drake but service was the worst I’ve had. No one was taking care of us, no offer for second drinks, dishes on the table for 40 minutes after eating.
music was a little loud for normal conversation but otherwise, great.
Loved my experience at Drake Hotel.
:) :) :) :) :) :) :)
Our brunch was delicious and our server was wonderful!
The service was terrible; we waited at least 45 minutes to get food. The food was tasteless when it arrived
Based on this past experience I would not recommend Drake. It was my second visit there. The first time I found it to be a good overall experience, but not this past Sunday. My party of 4 was seated at a very awkward half booth directly in front of the bar area. There were empty tables by the window available as well as others throughout the restaurant. We should have asked to be moved because our table was not at all comfortable. My husband ordered 2 plain pancakes from the side menu. The first time the server brought his order it was completely wrong. The second time he brought only one pancake and left abruptly without any apology when reminded that he had ordered two. When he finally got his pancakes the server didn't bring any syrup along with them. When I tried to ask him for some he had already walked away. We had to ask the waitress who took our original order to provide syrup to our table. I complained about the mediocre service to her, however she didn't seem overly concerned. She did comp us the 4 coffee orders from our bills as way of an apology.
This was a very pleasurable experience. The servers were great. The bacon pasta was not that good. I think the salt was mostly on the bacon and not anywhere else. We might have made a mistake of not mixing it properly but it was quite salty. The dessert was amazing.
We were told to come back at 845 for our table (no one called prior, so we showed up on time and were asked to come back). When we left, the host told us our table would be ready. We come back at 845, table given away.
Very inattentive server. She disappeared for a full 45 minutes and our pitcher was so watered down I swear there was no alcohol in it.
We had been to The Drake Hotel for brunch a year ago and had a good experience. This recent visit back was definitely not the same. We arrived at 10:30 on a Sunday and the resataurant wasn’t busy. There was no host/hostess in the lobby to show us our table which we had a reservation for, and by the time someone finally showed up, there was another group also waiting in the lobby.
Through the confusion, they say the other group instead of us. After being seated, the hostess poured us water and said our server would be over shortly. We waited over 15min until we finally asked the same hostess that was passing by if there was someone who could take our order. Our server was friendly and took our orders for coffees and our meals. 15min later, she came back to ask if we would mind moving to a different table because there was a large group arriving that needed the table we were seated in to join a nearby section. We moved without any issue, but before we could even sit, our meals showed up. Once we were finally settled into our new spot, we followed up with our server regarding our coffees that still had not showed up yet.
Our server said they wouldn’t charge us for the coffees because we did them a favour by moving seats, which was nice of them to do. In conclusion, the entire service staff was friendly and was clearly putting an effort, but the miscommunication and disorganization led to a horrible overall experience. My opinion is that even with a restaurant that was barely half filled, they were still understaffed. The food itself was average.
Server was awful - not welcoming, felt judged for bringing kids with us, not helpful on menu, felt rushed. Food is great - too bad about hired staff.
Disappointed in the service as the server misrepresented the cost of an add on.
Everything was top notch from the moment we walked in until the moment we left - the service, the food, the cleanliness - All of it!
Food + atmosphere always fantastic. Service this time was notably if not extremely slow. No biggy!
The food was excellent. The service was very good. We would not re-order the chai iced tea. The glass was full of ice, which watered down the beverage, so the flavour was flat. At $5, not good value. I left a generous tip. When I do so, I commonly receive a polite and discrete acknowledgement from at least one of the wait staff - i.e a simple nod of the head, smile and thank you as we leave. No such acknowledgement from The Drake wait staff.
The Drake Hotel needs to hire a new Chef. The food was awful for the price tag. Also the service was horrendous as well.....I will not be going bak there again even though it's in my neighbourhood....
The brunch food was good but unfortunately our waiter got our order wrong so many times that it detracted from the overall experience. He later admitted he normally didn't work the brunch shift and misunderstood our orders. It happens, but for it being our first time eating here (we've been here for music/drinks) we likely won't be dying to come back.
The Drake is a hip place for brunch. The brunch menu is limited. The staff are friendly and accomodating.
Food was great, service was excellent. Only complaint was music too loud to have a conversation.
One of the most amazing Brunches in Toronto. Definitely overrated and their pancakes are to die for. Drinks? Well, they pair perfectly with the vibes here! The rooftop patio is a must go!
A great surprise and delight to sit on the roof patio on a sunny and warm morning.
