Our experience was great. We both ordered the buckwheat waffles and oh my God they were perfect. It’s hard to picture berries and chicken together but I advise everyone to give it a try. The chicken was perfectly crispy and juicy and the berries and waffles were DELICIOUS. it was also our anniversary so they provided us a free ticket to their photo booth:)
Fantastic service, good quality food, nice ambience in modern setting. A good slice of Toronto life for my European visitor.
Went for brunch on a normal Sunday to celebrate a birthday. server was unattentive, forgetful & slow as was the kitchen. when the food finally arrived, everyone’s (group of 6) was either cold or warm at best. We advised the waitress and she at least comp’ed our non alcoholic drinks but when done our meals she told us we’d have to leave the table soon as there was another reservation. Really?
Everything was fantastic! I will defiantly be back.
The staff was unbeatable from start to finish. I cant say enough good things about every single person I came in contact with.
I got there 15 minutes late but my friend was already there for 7:15..I called in earlier that evening and requested for it to be pushed to 7:30. But I got nothing bad Attitude when I arrived. The table had Pilliows all around the seats for a table of 8 it was packed with 5 ppl. Our waitress was inpatient and snarky. She advised us that we are going to have to go downstairs cause their was no more room at our table (also a table with young ladies were sitting right beside us absolutely no room left for my table. So as our waitress was explaining that we would have to go back down stairs, I asked where down stairs? I almost lost my breath when she responded with such fustration, and slowly said IM GOING TO SHOW YOU...as if she'd been asked the same questions 4 times. When our food was served they would place it anywhere they wanted to and my guests had to pass it along to who ever it belong to. We waited at least 10 to 15 minutes to order drinks because no one would come around to check anything. The food is way over priced, considering the service that came along with it. This was not my first time here. I've been here before, and Ive always loved the experience. I think that it might have just been a one off experince. I still recommend this place. The women at the bar with the short hair and had a hat on was amazing! And the waitress that took over when the first rude one left, was also very nice, but she was super busy, and overwhelmed. I felt rushed and uneasy. We wanted to stay, but my guests were already uncomfortable and we went else where.
For a birthday brunch!
The cocktails were great and the wait staff very attentive. Cool decor and set-up.
Bar ran out of olives for the Caesars which I thought was unusual. Appetizer of the tar tar was very tasty, unfortunately I found the Lamb Ragu pappaedelle pasta main dish very dry - needed more sauce and ragu! In fact I could not even really taste any lamb - perhaps there was some shredded in the very scarce sauce but overall very disappointing, dry pasta. The fresh pasta was also a touch before al dente and therefore a little hard.
Food options are pretty poor, however it is tasty. Service was OK, a little slow. A very strange feel to the restaurant and cheap decor.
Feels like a bar rather than a restaurant. Not a great spot for a date but seems ok for groups.
Restaurant has great ambience and great fancy fries
What an amazing experience! I booked this restaurant for a birthday dinner and had a lovely time. They gave me a circular booth and the ambience was perfect, the music was great, and we had fun dancing afterwards. The food was exceptional, everyone enjoyed their meals. A special thanks to our server who made the night memorable with his amazing service and genuine kindness. My birthday celebration was perfect and I can't wait to return!
Great date spot, delicious cocktails and lovely staff. The food was a bit over seasoned but our waitress was nice enough to take off the item we weren’t pleased with. Overall I would recommend.
We had dinner there. Food and service was great. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Would recommend for a group dinner.
The shrimp on my salad sucked but my Gem salad was great
First time there, hopefully not the last. Delicious food, excellent service. Highly recommend 👍
The ambience is great and it was busy, but the specific brunch dish I ordered - Eggs benny with Salmon (+$3 paid for the salmon, was disappointing. The salmon felt like it was out of a can! Never had such bad salmon before. Otherwise a convenient and good spot to hang out!
We really liked our brunch. The food was amazing and the service was great. Highly recommend!
Sunday brunch reservation for 4 @ 12:30. Completely packed restaurant. Waited 4 minutes to be seated 👍🏼. Excellent service. Basic menu but 2 steps above the norm in quality. Coffee flowed. Hip crowd (30-35). Too Loud at first but became white noise after 5 mins. Incredible service (did I mention that already?). Fair prices. In and out in just over an hour. Didn’t feel at all rushed. We were in no hurry. Flowed like a ballet. They could get more creative with the menu but it was flawlessly executed, I wouldn’t change a thing.
Good food and Great for people watching . Silly that one cannot have assorted ice cream options... why not?
Had a great time. My sister visiting from Nova Scotia and her military friend and a visitor from Sweden. Great food and music made it a fun night. The waitress was outstanding.
Great place with great staff. Some simple food and some more foodie options. Expect it to be a bit noisy but it’s a good crowd.
Great place to eat and party. Dinner service was super slow
We had a brunch there. Food is comfortable and creative. The atmosphere is casual and arty. We loved the place.
Great first experience at The Drake Hotel. Originally reserved a table on the patio but it wasn’t open when we arrived. However, it was ok because the main dinning room is beautiful. Food was absolutely delicious! Server was great in recommending a wine to go along with our dinner.
They were able to accommodate our big group at the last minute and our table was ready early!
I made a reservation for brunch on Sunday at the Drake Hotel. I arrived on time and they seated me right away. The reservation was for 10:30 am and but I was surprised the place wasn't packed.
I was recently looking forward to this duck confit dish I had last time I was there, but they had changed up the whole menu. I ended up ordering the eggs benedict which was good! The the brown butter hollandaise was rich and delicious! For those of you who are all about the hashbrowns, they were smashed little potatoes cooked with onions and herbs (not especially crispy).
My friend and I had been busy catching up so our meal took a bit longer than normal. Although our server had checked in with us throughout the meal, she failed to check on us for about half an hour at the end of it so we ended up waiting a while for our bill. But once we signalled to her that we were ready, she brought it right away.
Overall, I would definitely recommend the Drake Hotel for brunch on weekends (try and get a window seat so you can people watch) and I personally will be going back for drinks and other meals!
The restaurant was beautiful and clean! However, I received a call 10 minutes after being seated asking if I was showing up to my reservation...? Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive to refilling our coffees! Not many vegetarian/vegan menu items, nor the option to switch an egg for a tofu scramble/alternative. The coconut chia seed pudding wasn't great, not that it would have been a substantial breakfast anyways. Everyone else enjoyed their food though - I recommend the chicken and waffles for meat-eaters :)
Food was very good but we were ushered to a noisy seating area by the window. We asked to be moved to a more intimate darker setting but were told everything else was reserved. We were there for two and a half hours and those reserved tables were still empty. Our main goal was ambiance first and food second.
Great experience, perfect for a date, great atmosphere
The best part of our visit was the service! Everyone was super nice and very helpful :)
The staff was amazing in accommodating my requests. Food as per usual was right on the mark.
we had the most amazing time! It was my first time and definitely not the last!!!!
The brunch was delicious and the white sangria was amazing! Recommend sitting outside if the weather allows it
The location was a no since it was in a run down area with shady people in the area. It wasn’t main downtown near Eaton centre so that was a let down. The washrooms are single washrooms and so dirty and small. The food was not worth it. There wasn’t much on the menu to bbegin with and the menus were cheap paper. The only thing I liked was the patio setting upstairs other than that. Will never go back here.
Always love the vibe and the attentive service though I'm not sure I'll be back so soon. The latest price increase has put the Drake in a different category that frankly I'm not sure the food is ready for. You are not serving a burger worth $22, nor a Caesar salad worth $24. I know prices are going up, but the Drake of all places should be able to maintain high value.
Birthday lunch with a friend. Nice spot on Patio. Great food, excellent service. Too many patrons stepping off patio to smoke just on the other side of the fence.
thank you. we had a good time. will come again forsure
unfortunately, we had very poor service. food served without utensils. request for utensils went unanswered. had to fetch own.
wine was ordered, not delivered. asked another server about wine, said they would speak to our server, waited another 10 mins.
Food was mediocre. Service very spotty. Waited for coffee during meal, came when meal over. Smoothie ordered late in coming. Gluten free bread too late to be enjoyed with breakfast. Much better breakfasts elsewhere.
Service was great and friendly. Food was delicious. The roasted corn rocked our worlds! Who knew corn could be that good?
Brunch is always great here and we lucked out on blueberry scones. Seems these are everyone's favourite and for good reason.
All around great experience. Love the cafe patio. Never felt rushed to finish up and leave, which is refreshing for Ontario restaurants in general.
