I had a friends birthday dinner and everything was amazing. Service staff was exceptional and food was delicious. However a double gin and tonic was $15 BEFORE tax and tip which is outrageous. That would be the only reason I'd hesitate to go back. Ambiance was cozy and the chai tea's were the best I've ever had.

Great ambiance and able to talk without it being too loud. Food was amazing. I had a business meeting, but would definitely come back with my spouse.

I went at 2 o clock. They have live music but not this early.
Great food, choices for vegetarian and omnivore.
Excellent choice for date or for a get together

Very cold where we sat at window
Understaffed and gave priority to large group over us. They ordered after us and got food before.

Great food but very slow service. Not good for business lunch.

Our Chai Feasts were delicious...as always. Many good vegetarian options on the list. Love the decor. It's exotic and fun and the staff are just the right mix of attentive and warm and not at all obtrusive.

I love East is East and hadn't been in a long time so was excited for a rare dinner out with a couple of friends. The food was delicious, as always. Unfortunately, the service was terrible that night. We waited 30 minutes to order a drink - it wasn't busy, we had a 5pm reservation. We would have waited longer had I not flagged down the hostess to direct a server to our table.

The two glasses of wine were brought to the table ahead of the cocktail, which took another 5 minutes. The food arrived promptly after we ordered but we had to ask for the condiments which are normally served with the meal.

It was great to catch up with my friends! Our only regret is that we hadn't chosen to spend our money elsewhere.

Costly for what you get. Tasty but could have gone elsewhere just as good for cheaper. They charge $3/person for live music entertainment. You can opt out but you have to mention it to your server otherwise they automatically put it on your bill. The fact that they apply this surcharge to your bill turned me off in my experience to enjoy the restaurant. I was not there for the music, I came there for the food. If they want the live music, then the Restaurant should not make patrons feel obligated to pay. Leaving a tip jar would have been a better approach.

The food was absolutely outstanding. However the service i received was very poor. Not worth the time or the money spent. Even though the food was very good that did not excuse my server to neglect me and my friend throughout the entire evening. It was a waste of a trip and we are never going back again.

It's been years since I've eaten at East is East, and unfortunately for me, their cuisine has now become exclusively to Indian/spicy, and not at all Middle Eastern. Pity, I love Middle Eastern food...

I’m a regular patron at East is East. I love their food and ambiance.

This time was the most disappointing experience I’ve had here. Terrible service by seemingly new untrained staff. We didn’t get the usual welcome drink until we asked for it TWICE!
Server was not aware that the dish I ordered was unavailable in the kitchen, had to come back with half order and asked me what I want to change it to!!
and later another server miscommunicated our order for additional plates.
No effort was made to make up for the blunders.

Great food, lots of vegetarian options, friendly service, yummy IPA beer and lovely red wine, very cheery relaxed atmosphere. I loved the music (was jazz when I was there) but would suggest you book a table farther away from the stage area if conversation is a key element of your dining occasion. We plan to make it one of our regular dine-out spots!

I love the food and atmosphere here as it is always cozy and has lovely service.
However the amount of food you get can vary a great deal. I ordered the same lunch within one month and the second time, the quantity was less than half. Several items were completely missing yet I paid the same amount. If I had received the second meal the first time, I may not have gone back. The food was still delicious but it was very surprising to get so much less!

We came late on a rainy night. They were very accommodating and took us to our table promptly. The middle eastern decor is stunning and is nothing like other you would find in Vancouver. The whole place feels very organic if you are into real tree trunk tables and chairs. The food were hearty and you could really taste the freshness of the ingredients. Is real comfort food for those who love spices. Live show was okay, not spectacular. Well come back again.

Phenomenal food, great value. If you're in the mood for eastern cuisine, it is tough to be disappointed. Will go again a million times over. Was a first time for a friend of mine, and his mind was blown away by the great atmosphere and good nature of servers.

Service was superb other than took quite a long time for some to let us pay our bill at the end, and due to shift changes was tough to flag anyone down.

It was really great, the food, the service and the ambiance. The one disappointing thing was they put us at a very small table with uncomfortable seats. It looks like we were the only ones with this type. For someone who made a reservation ahead of time this was disappointing. Otherwise keep up the great work!

Made a reservation early in the afternoon which we were quite happy about when we got there and every table was filled! Led straight to our table and were outfitted with wine and food in no time. Our server was so sweet and the food was outstanding. So many amazing flavours. Would definitely come again for another special occasion.

Good if you crave some eastern flavours, specially by ordering the "feast". Service very much lacking: speed and attentiveness is not part of this experience (multiple visits have proven this is a consistent flaw), however I still find the food and overall experience is worth the visit. The live music is often too loud, so if you are looking to socialize with your party over conversation, you will notice this. For this reason, I do not recommend going here with new people you are hoping to get to know over dinner.

The magic of this restaurant permeates all areas of service, food quality, music & entertainment. When the female spirit is present in this capacity there is nothing that can surpass the nurturing spirit customers experience!
Thank you for a beautiful, wholehearted evening!

We'll be back!
