Food was delicious, atmosphere was lively, service was very quick, prices are a little bit more than your average Japanese restaurant but the portions were worth it

Extensive menu with lots of choices and interesting fusion and authentic dishes. Just be prepared that if you are dining with a group the food will not all be served at the same time.

I recently had a company ‘goodbye’ party at Ebisu. We were a pretty loud and energetic bunch, but the staff/ servers did a great job at keeping up and tending to our party of 30! Would definitely return in the future (even for smaller parties).

The best grade I can give Ebisu is a C-. It's just not very good, and the service matches. The chefs offer poorly constructed sushi, and the servers are annoyed, careless and rushed. The menu itself is a poke in the eye. It's so poorly designed and ugly we should have known better and left immediately. But alas, we stayed.

Avoid the Ocean Red and Crunch and Munch rolls; both are bad. The Ocean Red roll features ground/pulverized tuna rolled up with nori, covered with sushi rice, then layered with scrap of sockeye salmon. It's doused in a heavy hot sauce that is not very hot or tasty. The Crunch and Munch roll features pre-made, cold soggy tempura shrimp with a dollop of wasabi cream sauce. The nigiri sushi is about as bland as can be. Just try ordering Tobiko with quail egg sushi. You can get the tobiko, but the quail egg that is listed on the menu is apparently only available with the nigiri sushi (which makes no sense). Then there are the Magic Beans: deep-fried edamame. Here's what I learned after trying them. You shouldn't deep fry edamame.

If you're looking for good quality sushi, go somewhere else.

Overall atmosphere was very relaxed, and as it wqs on the 2nd floor, it pprovided a nice overlook on robson street. The food was decent, not too bad or too good, very mediocre. Service wqs alright, although it did take quite sometime for some of the waiters to serve us; however, it seemed quite busy, so it couldve just been the amount of people that were dining at the time, so it wasnt too bad considering that. Overall a nice clean resteraunt. Oyster motoyaki was fairly good, and the sashimi salad was nicr as well, but there couldve been more fish

It was my sister's 25th birthday. The waitresses were super sweet and quick at accommodating our needs. I had not brought a cake with me but with a request of their green tea ice cream brownie dessert they were able to make it into a small cake with complimentary candle. I REALLLY appreciated the whole restaurant singing happy birthday as a surprise for her too! It was a great night. Highly recommend Ebisu for special ocassions

Great food, very poor service. I reserved a table and halfway through our meal the waiter came to us and told us to move tables. He said a large group walked in and expected to be seated all together. We were halfway through eating when we were told to move. They also prioritized the large groups food order over ours, as we didn’t get one of the dishes we had initially requested. Overall not a great experience at all. They gave us a 10% discount for the inconvenience.

It was our first time dining on Ebisu’s patio and preview what may become a summer hangout. On the street level, dining tables and chairs were provided for neighboring patrons to enjoy takeout - making for great people watching and experiencing the local community. Our hostess checked in multiple times as well as the waiter to ensure our water glasses were filled and table cleared almost within minutes of finishing each entree. We didn’t feel neglected or noticed any difference in service provided to patrons dining inside. From the Happy Hour specials, we tried their dynamite and spicy negritori (tuna belly) rolls; calamari on bed of fried vermicelli; spicy tuna roll, tacos (shells were deep fried) and house special salad. Everything was nicely prepared and presented. Service was prompt and overall our meal was satisfying - great value for Japanese sushi (could bump up the flair) and take in the Robson street vibe.

There weren’t enough servers on staff. The servers that were there did their best to be attentive and asked for our orders.

The food is pretty good. The hamachi freshness was the only part that could’ve been better.

It was an enjoyable experience. The staff has provided us with a comfortable vibe that made my get together with my friends whom I haven’t seen for six years extra special. The music was not too loud that made our catching up free-flowing; without yelling at each other. We sat on one of their booths that somehow gave us the feeling of privacy. And their ramen especially the Spicy Lava Ramen and their Miso Ramen were surprisingly amazing! It was a fun experience as a whole.

We wouldn't recommend this restaurant. They seemed to be rushing us constantly, practically sweeping away our plates while still eating and returning every minute to take our orders resulting in up ordering the wrong dishes. Just wasn't a good experience.

We were excited to get to Ebisu during the Dineout Vancouver event. It may have been that it was Super Bowl Sunday but they had the game on a huge screen which dominated the ambience and the servers attention.
The food was delicisou, but for what we paid, the service and atmosphere wasnt really up to scratch

Unfortunately the previous reviews I’d read were correct. Mediocre to pretty good food (depending on your selections) and terrible service. We were seated pretty promptly as I had a reservation and that was the end of any semblance of good customer service. I’m a very low maintenance diner in that I expect wait times for fresh food and don’t beer from the menu. I even stack my own dishes sometimes if he sever isn’t quick enough but I never want to feel like I HAVE to bus my own table but here I did. We sat for 17 minutes (that’s right I timed it) before someone came and asked us if we had been helped. We ordered our food and drinks and asked for water to be brought right away as it hadn’t been and our food was brought out but no water. Dish after dish came but no water. One or two servers were great and when we caught their attention they were prompt in giving us what we needed but again I don’t want to have to catch someone’s attention at a restaurant in order to get things like water I asked for an hour ago or a refrigerated dessert that takes minutes to bring to the table but for some reason took another 13 minutes. Won’t be back. Should’ve heeded the words of previous reviewers.

I went for my birthday dinner and left unhappy. Service was bad, they were not attentive forgot what our orders were so when servers came to give the food they had no idea what they were even giving and who they we're giving it to. It didn't even appear what we got was what we ordered. food came out all scattered so some people were eating first while others had nothing. And if our friends waited their food was cold. For the dine out 40 bucks the food was a rediculous small portion. The regular menu was cheaper and looked better. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Way to overpriced for nothing. Above that they charged us 15 bucks in tips when I thought they didn't deserve it what so ever.
