Table was ready, service was good, food was excellent
Amazing meal! The lobster risotto was the best I ever had, and my boyfriends steak was cooked perfectly. Would definitely recommend.
Great ambiance. Very focused menu. Some continental choices as well as local specialties. My dining partner had seafood mofongo which looked fabulous and I dined on mushroom risotto (vegetarian option). Best of all was the service and setting. Very relaxing courtyard style dining. Highly recommend.
Food was delish and we ate at the bar and the bartender was excellent
We went to el Asador at 5:30 in the evening because there were no reservations after that time. The restaurant had limited seating inside, but considerable seating outside. Since it had rained heavily earlier in the day,the outdoor seating was not available.
We chose a table that was a high top because the seating had backs to them. Normal height seating was on benches. The drinks were wonderful and the food was great. The atmosphere was classic Latin. While not plush it was very atmospheric.
The environment at El Asador was very pleasant. Unfortunately the food was average at best and the linguine with shrimp was almost inedible, drowned in a thick cheesy sauce. There are only two choices for wine: a house white and a house red. The steak was disappointing but not awful. The service was friendly. In short, don't go for the food.
A must go when you are in Old San Juan! The food, service, and atmosphere make for a truly enjoyable dining experience.
We had a nice meal but our server disappeared for an hour and we had to get up to get someone’s attention for another drink, and then eventually just the bill. It appeared that only two people were serving the entire restaurant, but our table was looked over. Still a nice atmosphere and a nice sampling of risotto to start as a welcome.
The food was decent, but not really special. The risotto was real just average. It does have a nice ambiance, and the wait staff was attentive.
Restaurant is dysfunctional. Would not go back.
No one came up to us after 15 minutes so we left.
Really great food.
We ended up leaving after 1 hour we barely had one drink and no appetizers or food. The restaurant is clearly understaffed. We felt bad for our server and knew he was trying but way too understaffed. While waiting for our food we ordered 3 pizzas from a nearby establishment and got confirmation it was ready before we even had the appetizers we ordered. Poor experience. The table next to us had the same experience.
Attended on a recommendation. Unfortunately left disappointed. Food was very average. Drinks took forever. We had mojitos to start and then a second mojito and a wine with our entrees. Mojito 2 and wine arrived as we were finishing our meal.
terribly, we waited for drinks for almost 40 minutes and 1 hour 50 minutes we waited for food, which was none.
Reservation was at 7:00. Restaurant was not busy. Waited for about 20 minutes to get a server and a drink and order. Waited for 1 hour 45 minutes, until we left at 9:15 since it didn't appear we were going to get served. Bar tender was good. It appears many were having the same experience, so maybe just a bad night there.
We were concerned that there were not busy on a Thursday night but the food and ambiance were delicious. The venue is charming. I hope the word gets out!
Our second visit, and it was as fabulous as our last! Frank was wonderful, all meals were delicious, and the restaurant is beautiful. This will definitely become an annual stop!
Casual with excellent fresh local cuisine.
The food selection was good for all 6 of us. I had the Red Snapper delish!!!we enjoyed everything except the beer. Refrig was not working beets were flat.
Dinner in a lovely setting. Good service of reasonable food. Don’t be fooled by the online/website menu.... it shows an extensive wine list, with a range of prices .... reality is the restaurant only has one red and one white wine .... both overpriced.
Nice sized portions, definitely enough for leftovers. Quick with appetizers and drinks as well. Lots of large tables make it great for a group!
Open and airy— great if you want any outdoor feel
Everything was great, we were celebrating my father in law birthday, and our server was really kind, good attitude and quick service. Nothing to say about the place, nice decor and beautiful concept. I recommend it!
I could not recommend this restaurant. The food quality is poor and the wait staff were inattentive even though the place was empty. We made a reservation based on previous reviews. I am not sure what happened to make them go downhill but we did not even stay past our appetizers. We decided to move on to a different restaurant for entrees.
Great ambiance and terrific service
Overpriced, average food. Poor wine selection. Nice waiter, but sorely understaffed. Neat atmosphere.
The restaurant itself is beautiful, the staff friendly and attentive. The food is average, but pricey.
No AC is open AIr. But drinks, food and service. Excellent
The place came highly recommended on travel sights so I went there for my birthday dinner. The food was bad. I got a pork chop that I am pretty sure was just a brick of salt that they made look like a pork chop. My boyfriend got the cod that was some kind of weird boiled situation and then he was very sick for the next day or so of our trip. He said that the fish was essentially inedible and the garlic sauce that they put on it to drown out the taste just made it worse.
The filet fish was very bland but the pork chops were fantastic. Their ambiance and the architecture is fantastic. Forewarning, they seemed understaffed, so we often had to go find our waitress as it took so long for her to check on us.
Would not recommend. Although beautiful inside and great menu/food, they were completely understaffed and our dinner of 11 took over 3 hours! Waited almost 45 min just to get our checks and forever to get our drinks. We were disappointed and falling asleep at the end and we saw people come, get seated, then left before ordering because they weren’t getting served. It was empty and when i asked If we could get our checks finally tracking the waitress down she said we’d “need to be patient”.
Good spot for a bit of lunch in Old San Juan - food is pretty good, lovely renovated venue, very kind and friendly waiter, good drinks! Grilled Grouper with a side of the DELICIOUS rice and beans and a couple of glasses of white wine made us very, very happy :)
Very cute restaurant. Longish wait after ordering, but very good.
We had delicious food ... we ordered a fried whole fish and a local shrimp dish. While touristy for sure the food was still tasty.
Lovely, traditional Puerto Rican meal in a very calm, relaxing setting. Highly recommended for a leisurely dinner!
Good food - great location
The total experience was wonderful. Our ceviche was fresh and very tasty. The red snapper was cooked perfectly. We also tried the seafood mofongo was very good. The server was helpful and very welcoming and friendly.
What a great find. The food , service and ambiance was outstanding. It was my best meal during my stay in Puerto Rico.
We were so excited to try this restaurant out, a local resident highly recommended this place because of daily fish that was purchased from local fisher. Nice atmosphere, food okay.
It was an AMAZING food experience... Chef made an ridiculously amazing seafood mofongo... literally THE best I’ve ever had!! Thank you so much for a wonderful dining experience!
