   Our time at El Catrin was absolutely wonderful. It was my mothers 50th birthday and I don’t think we could’ve been happier. Our server was fantastic. The food is always such a good experience. Thank you so much.

   Most everything was awesome.. the service, drinks, food.. except 2 things: There is no way to get salsas--like a salsa bar or to order a side or selection. You can order an app, which is this special salsa and chips they prepare at your table, but that is all. The salsa was fairly delicious, thankfully, although not particularly memorable. Also the guacamole, that they also prepare at your table, was so incredibly boring! It was a major disappointment! I mean, it wouldn't hurt to put some lime and cilantro, onions or some peppers or whatever in it! For outstanding guacamole, try to catch the guacamole appetizer at Joey's before they remove it from the menu. It is the best I've ever had in my life. I understand El Catrin is insisting they are "authentic" Mexican food--but the everyday authentic Mexican I have had is pretty bland, so I really think El Catrin is not really as authentic as they claim--and they could certainly improve their guacamole and no one would complain about losing some degree of "authenticity". Instead, what we had was really boring and actually memorably disappointing guacamole. Otherwise, the food and everything else was amazing, especially the chips, drinks, freshness of the ingredients, and the service, and we will definitely be back!

    I like El Catrin for the food quality, service, and the atmosphere. The portion is reasonable and we tried different items from the menu and we were not disappointed.

    Food was amazing. The staff was amazing. Our waiter was so knowledgeable about what to order and the type of tequila to drink. It was all around a very pleasant experience. Really enjoyed the food and the tequila!

    Disppointing. Overpriced. Fresh uncooked appetizers were good. Cooked food obviously pre-cooked, then warmed up. Soft. Not much taste

    Our server Ricardo was phenomenal. All of his recommendations were great! Food is a bit pricey compared to other Mexican places ($8 for 2 shot glasses of corn and mayonnaise?) but very very good. We’ll come back anyways

    Wonderful ambience and excellent food as usual. But unfortunately the service was poor. That hasn’t generally been our experience with El Catrin, but on this night we were given the bare minimum in terms of service. We were made to wait very long to place orders and a drink order never arrived. Perhaps just an off night, and we normally have great experiences at this restaurant.

    Was charged an additional meal we didn’t order. They couldn’t refund it as said they and the manager don’t have the capability and have to do it through accounting. Accounting only refunded a portion of the extra charge so had to go back to them to get the full amount refunded. Was a hassle. The prices are not of value of what you get. They calculate their tip on taxes as well. So don’t use the % function.

    We love everything about El Catrin! The location for instance - the Distillery District is so beautiful. The restaurant decor is amazing - from the incredibly vivid wall murals to the huge hanging lights. And the food! The guac was made right at our table - a huge portion that was gone in minutes. Then we each had Botanas (small bites) We all chose Esquites, lovely charred corn in a mixture of aioli, lime juice and yum. Next we ordered chicken tinga tacos - delicious! Topping it off with some churros, with 3 different sauces and Happy Birthday written in chocolate around the plate (and a candle, of course!) and we were in heaven. Check out their menu - there are so many other choices and the margaritas are perfect. But the best part of El Catrin is the staff. Very attentive and enthusiastic- made us feel special!
