Housed in a beautifully restored 1912 firehouse, Engine Co. No. 28 located 3 blocks from the Staples Center and the Los Angeles Convention center has been putting out appetite fires since 1989 with classic American dishes inspired by the regional cooking of firehouses across the country.

The menu features a "signature" Meatloaf, crispy hand-breaded fried chicken, a burger to remember and a great assortment of handmade cocktails, a consistently updated wine list, and a great draft beer selection.

The restaurant is reminiscent of the classic grills of San Francisco and New York - mahogany booths, granite bar, and original brass fire pole with eclectic old filament light bulbs to add to the motif.

Had a great meal. Salmon was tasty and creme brulee was very good for dessert. We rode the metro train and the restaurant was right next to the train station. Very convenient.

Food was great, and cocktails were delicious! We sat in the bar and the server was friendly and efficient. We ordered appetizers(sliders, calamari, and hummus and all were fabulous) I would definitely recommend the restaurant. The only slight negative was the day was hot and it didn't seem like the air conditioning was working very well. Other than that I can't wait to go back next time we're in DTLA

Our waitress was short-staffed and had a nearly full room to contend. She did a great job keeping our glasses full of water as well as recruiting others to help until her help arrived. She was fantastic and deserves a raise!

Only one waiter, security guard for seating patrons, waiter is also your bar tender, and air conditioner was not up to par. I’d take hard pass on returning. Food was average at best. Local hotels bar are better.

it was sad to see it so empty. the sandwich I had was some kind of mystery meat, but my co-workers salads looks really good.

It was a bit strange to be greeted and seated by a security officer. Plus, these seemed to be limited staff on duty at lunch time as wait times seemed exceptionally long. Food once it arrived was very good. Uncertain why this experience was so different from the many other times we dined at Engine 28.

We had a wonderful dinner here last week! The service was so incredible and the food and drinks were delicious. The mac n cheese balls appetizer was amazing as was the chocolate cake dessert. I would highly recommend this place and I will be back soon!
