Excellent food and terrific service. Very professional. Portions are generous and plating was very good.
Shrimp appetizer out of this world. Very polite service. Only anomaly: fish (surprisingly) overcooked but not a big misstep. Still an excellent meal and -good lord- you can actually have a conversation without yelling at each other.
ernest is joyous a wonderful place first rate great place I cannot say too many good things Nait does a fine job of training people in the food industry and it show j
Went there for the first time and I love it. It is a hidden gem because no one knew they are open until mid June even after the school ended in April so it was a nice quiet spot.
Great meals and very friendly, efficient wait staff and other staff
I eat here as a treat to delicious food at reasonable prices. Always satisfied with the food and service.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The carpaccio , tomato soup, steak, halibut were all outstanding. One person didn't enjoy the pork belly. We have already highly recommended Ernest's to family and friends. Looking forward to going again and trying other menu items.
Had a lovely, quiet dinner with attentive but respectful service. Prawns were a memorable starter and the beef was perfectly done. Would like to see a more extensive dessert menu.
The whole evening was amazing!!
Everything my wife and I had was perfectly prepared and delicious. Vlad was excellent.
My table of 6 had a wonderful meal, masterfully prepared, and delicious.
25 th Anniversary , had a fantastic meal . I loved the blueberry basil margarita , very tasty. Everything was great.
Two of us attended at lunch, and ordered the Pickerel fish entrée. The fish was delicious and well prepared but could have been outstanding if served with some tart accompaniment or lemon. Service was excellent. Overall a lovely lunch.
Always wanted to go to Ernest's and was so pleased that we were able to do it for our anniversary. It was a memorable experience
Friendly and yummy as usual
Enjoyed the experience. My friend ordered the pork and found the portion was small. Disappointed that there was no Caesar Salad. Service was excellent. Very clean. Staff very accommodating.
Nice lunch setting for us four gals to visit & spend an afternoon together
Ernest's is now open earlier for lunch and open during semester break. Reasonable wine list with emphasis on Canadian wine.
My partner started with tomato soup and loved the addition of dark chocolate pretzel garnish. I had the shrimp which were delightful. For mains I had the pickerel which was very nice with an excellent green pea puree. My wife had the lasagna and was delighted with it. The portions are lunch sized but the preparation was at a. Very high standard. Will return
Hiccups during the evening which was surprising as it was the last evening service of the year/term. Arrived 7 minutes before our reservation, hostess had a “deer in the headlights look”. Asking us to be seated. Asked if there was a problem? No, hostess didn’t want to overwhelm the servers. Okay, we sit down.
Led to our table where we wait for the server, and wait and wait. I put my water glass to the side in the time honoured signal that water is wanted. It takes some time but we finally get water. Server keeps trying to get us both to order wine. We might have done but by this point we were becoming annoyed.
Was a band set up that evening (something we’d never seen/heard before”.) They were good but far too loud for such a small space and we couldn’t hear what the Students’ specials were (did get that not everything on the menu was available though). It was impossible to carry on any conversation with my husband whose birthday we were celebrating.
Finally server took our orders, refilled our water glasses (I’d drunk my husbands also) as he had ordered a soft drink. We had adjusted what we were going to order due to shortages (which happens, not a huge problem). We get the bread but are unable to hear what the butter’s were. Tasty!
Floor manager was going around to tables apologizing for the loudness of the (very good) band and saying she would ask them to be softer in their next set. Great service by the manager as we were not the only ones who were bothered by the loudness of the band. High praise.
Finally receive our appetizers. Delicious. Main meal comes after significant wait, server dismissing our concerns. Plates are placed with no comment/interaction. I flag manager as vegetable was too hard. She takes away, returns a cooked plate. Delicious. I noticed hubby didn’t finish his meal (lamb), came cold.
Order coffees. Manager asks about hubby’s meal. Unasked his meal was removed from bill. Food: great, issues resolved, server sub par, ambience: loud.
Amazing as always. Best value.
Nice setting, parking close by; staff was friendly & courteous, servings generous, attractive presentation, food tasty; price not cheap but reasonable value; reservations easy to make/change through OpenTable
Yesterday was my second visit to Ernest's; I had been there in March with my husband and was very impressed with both the service and the food. This time I took a friend there for lunch for her birthday. While both the food and service were still very good, I had a couple of concerns. First, I left a note when I made the reservation indicating that I am allergic to corn in any form but what was brought to our table for an amuse-bouche? A container of popcorn. Fortunately, my friend has a hearty appetite and was able to eat my share as well as hers. Then, skipping to dessert - my chocolate cake came with caramel popcorn scattered around the plate. Of course, I had to send it back and then wait quite a while for a replacement. I think closer attention needs to be paid to food allergies; mine is not the deathly anaphylactic shock variety, but I do get very sick if I have corn in any form.
Overall, however, our dining experience was very nice and I still would recommend Ernest’s for lunch or dinner. My friend was a bit disappointed in the amount of food in her entrée (she had the beef strip loin steak), but I reminded her that this was a lunch, not a dinner, entrée. (When my husband and I had dinner there last month, there was so much on our plates that we had to take a good amount home.) My Caesar salad was excellent, and the breads made on-site were to die for. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our desserts and my friend said that the impressive chocolate fondue experience was amazing. A particularly nice touch was "Happy Birthday!" written in chocolate on her plate. She also enjoyed the home-made beef soup starter.
All in all, Ernest’s provides an excellent dining experience and I look forward to going again.
Came to Ernest's for an anniversary dinner. Wonderful food and fantastic presentation. It was really nice to know you are supporting some young, up and coming chefs. I would highly recommend this to everyone who is looking for a fine dining experience with a comfortable, casual feel.
The staff was very friendly, and attentive. The dishes were attractive and very tastey. Parking was free and very close. I had wanted to dine at Ernests for many years and thoroughly enjoyed it!
Loved the food, but have to say, our server Jo was the very best part of our evening. She was exceptional, attentive and a pleasure to share our evening with.
Food was fantastic. Our server Daveica was amazing.Total dining experience was top shelf.
We recently attended the Friday Student Showcase buffet. It was reasonably priced and the food and service was exceptional. Book early to avoid being disappointed. We will definitely be back. They have gift certificates available - I plan to pick some up for birthdays in the Fall.
The food and service was Amazing. We will definitely be going again
Service and food was excellent !!! Well worth going again.
Lovely professional people working hard. Croissants were the best we've tried since Christian Maison Fauvre in Montreal. Beef roasted to perfection. Some peculiar appetizers, but I think that is more of a preference issue. Staff were exceptionally friendly.
We dined with friends, service and food was very nice, will come again. Thank You Marie
A great food experience.....the service, food and ambiance were beyond our expectations. Thanks for taking such good care of us!
Glad was a fabulous waiter. His wine and food pairings were spot on! The food was excellent! I have already recommended Ernest’s to friends.
We had the meatball appetizer, beef ribs and chocolate lava cake. Very nice presentation. The beef ribs were tender and tasty but had too much gravy. Otherwise it was a great lunch and would definitely go again.
This is an amazing lunch buffet. I like supporting the leaning experience for hospitality and culinary students. The food and service are excellent! Would recommend it to anyone.
Always have a great time when dining at Ernest's it was fantastic! Wonderful service and a truly delicious meal!
Ernest at NAIT was a nice surprise! I had a better experience than at some well-established restaurants around town. The food cooked by the student chefs at NAIT tasted really good and I plan on visiting them again
My husband & I had a deeeeelicious meal with wonderful service on March 20 at Ernest's at NAIT. It was gourmet all the way - beginning with the "amuse bouche" that came along with a variety of artisanal breads and bread sticks baked on-site, plus three kinds of butter (regular, garlic, and either cayenne or paprika - I forget which); a salad of heirloom tomatoes & burrata with lemon olive oil, basil, micro greens & 12-year-old balsamic vinegar; and blackberry sorbet to cleanse the palate; followed by the entrees. Louis had roasted lamb rack with Moroccan couscous, fonseca port sauce, & beets while I had the "AAA" beef strip loin with roasted fingerling potatoes, beets, and beech mushrooms in mondavi cabernet sauce. For dessert we had our favourite creme brulees and lattes. It was a meal worthy of the finest gourmet restaurant. And much appreciated was the Tuesday- Friday deal whereby for
$45 (with flight of wine - $60) one could have one's choice of any starter, entree, and dessert on the menu. I can see why Ernest's was named one of Canada's top 100 restaurants by Open Table. I would (and have) heartily recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a wonderful dining experience.
I thoroughly enjoyed my Birthday Dinner on Friday, the service was fantastic and the food was great. Thank you
