I have dined at Volos a few times and it’s always been an incredible experience. This time unfortunately we were less than impressed, and it so happened to be my birthday dinner. The food was impeccable as always, however the service was very slow, pretty much non existent. I assume they were understaffed that night, as our server seemed to be very busy. Unfortunately, we were not attended to, having to wait for our wine until after we finished our appetizers, having to constantly remind our server/server assistants of things. Will probably still come back for the food but was quite disappointed that my guests did not have the experience I anticipated they would when I brought them to one of my favourite restaurants.
We had a great table and the atmosphere was great for conversation. Rack of lamb was superb.
Terrific restaurant. Food always excellent. Restaurant a tad noisy.
Thank you Volos for accommodating our special requests as we had dining companions who had very specific dietary restrictions. All of our requests were met and we thoroughly enjoyed our pre-theatre meal. Appetizers, entrees , dessert and coffees were delicious and served in a timely fashion. We were able to wrap up the bill and make our way to the opera house with time to spare.
Service was awful! Food was nothing spectacular. Lentil soup was sold out!! The chicken lemon soup was served cold. The meatballs (appetizer) was not appetizing. The only highlight of the meal was the chocolate mouse.
I had the Moussaka which was delicious - service was great even though he had a big table to serve among others. I didn't hesitate to recommend it to two clients for the next evening and they loved it too!
Lovely restaurant but disappointed that the pre theatre menu listed on line wasn’t available. Not sure why since it was a Saturday night and we were going to the theatre. Perhaps they should not be listing it on line. False advertising as far as I’m concerned.
Probably won’t return as it was a very expensive meal. Wait service though was exceptional.
Food was very unimpressive, especially considering what they charge. Fish arrived cold.
Excellent octopus! Great service! Wonderful introduction to Vidiano Klima wine.
The octopus and cod were both very tasty and the service was excellent. Server (David) was entertaining and clearly enjoyed his job. Arrived for a 6:15 dinner and out in time to make it down to the Royal Alex for an 8:00 pm show. Really nice evening.
I have been to Volos before and the food does not disappoint. The scallops were amazing as was the fisherman's stew. The only complaint I had was that the service was a bit slow. I had taken my brother in law out for his birthday and he ordered a cocktail when he first arrived. He didn't get it until we were halfway through our appetizer. Otherwise, everyone was friendly but most importantly the food was delicious. It is an expensive meal so not an everyday option - our bill with a shared appetizer, 2 mains, 2 glasses of wine and a cocktail was just under $200 (including tip/tax).
food was good but it was terribly slow! sat there for at least two hours before the food arrived
Don’t go out to eat often so I’m no pro but this place had great food. Cool glasses for water. Ambiance was nice. Overall nice experiences. Portion sizes were a bit small
This was my second visit and both meals were delicious, with excellent service. I really enjoy the atmosphere, and the food is authentic, and prepared with care.
The servers were top drawer which is extraordinary today. From cocktails to appetizers to the bringing of the main course, to dessert, coffee and the timing of the bill. They clearly watched and the place was packed. I am impressed!
Great food, but a little bit busy that day
We had a fabulous last-minute dinner at Estiatorio Volos. We shared a number of meze and then desserts. In particular, I would recommend the dolmades and sesame crusted feta and the dessert of Metaxa marinated figs over Greek yogurt is not to be missed! Our waiter was very helpful and enhanced our enjoyment of the evening. I would definitely return the next time I’m in Toronto.
Food was great as was the staff. Great spot for a business meal.
Great food as always. Respectable selection of Greek wine. A slightly slower service this time but nothing bad. Good experience overall.
Great service and a good diverse yet short menu
Very good service. Waiting staff was wonderful. Came here for an engagement and every single person congratulated us. Even threw in a little surprise on the house. Food was exceptional even the tap water. Really made the evening memorable.
Dinner with two family members prior to attending COC Opera at Four Seasons
Good food and good value. Grilled octopus is excellent
Very nice ambiance and good service. Greek wine was very good. Loved the appetizers. My main was the scallops and our guests had the sea bass and loved it. Perfect place before theatre. We made it in plenty of time for our show!
Friendly service, good food. Clean and bright space. Bit cold by the window.
Great service. Food was fresh and well prepared
The restaurant decor was a Modern take on an old world Greek style restaurant.... Beautifully done in a minimalist way... The lightning was perfect.. not too bright or dark. Zack our server was very good. The menu is very simple with just enough choices without being overwhelmed by choices. All food was delicious and well sized. From the appetizers to main entree. Over all a very good experience.
Great food and service....again. David as always made a wonderful wine selection
My Greek mother-in-law will hopefully never read this...but I have to say, the food at Volos was the very best Greek food my wife and I have ever experienced.
Beautifully tender grilled octopus to start, with an eggplant spread that was dialed in perfectly.
Mains were grilled red snapper and fisherman's stew, both top shelf and artfully presented.
Service was attentive, knowledgeable and upbeat. Spot on. Drinks likewise.
Excellent Greek coffee to finish.
Tip of the cap to the entire team at Volos. We will be back.
Service excellent, ambience excellent, food excellent, if you're looking for upscale and are ok to spend about $200 to $250 on dinner this is a great spot. We liked everything we ordered. Keep in mind 9oz wine glass is 25 bucks a glass. The food was so good going back for the flavor of the seafood stew. We loved our waiter...he was knowledgeable of the menu and provided great service. Authentic greek food you won't be disappointed.
Amazing experience. Great service. David and the restaurant manager were fantastic. They truely understand what it means to be in the food industry. Thanks gentlemen.
Services food and services. Highly recommended.
We dined at Volos before attending the Play "Come From Away" at the Royal Alexandra Theatre. It was our first time eating there. Volos was an integral part of a very enjoyable evening my wife and I spent with my cousin and his wife. Volos may become one of our favorite restaurants in Toronto.
Volos has become a regular spot for business lunches. The 4 tables for two along the rail in front of the kitchen provide space where you can have a confidential conversation.
It is also nice for a quiet dinner.
The food is reliably good.
Myself, my boyfriend and another couple were at Volos last Saturday. We ordered calamari, octopus and saganaki to start. All fantastic !
Two of us got the lamb shank. It was the best we have both EVER had.
My boyfriend had the veal tenderloin, also very delicious. lastly, the seafood stew ..... it was GREAT!
Our service was wonderful. She was very friendly and very good with refilling water and drinks. The ambiance is very nice.
I will be back there and recommend to all :)
It's was my first time coming its was amazing and my boyfriend its his second time coming here we really like it a lot 😊the place is really nice their
We had an excellent meal before theater. The set pre-theater menu had 3 great options. The lamb shank was outstanding, large portion too, and the yogourt with berries and honey was the perfect light finish to the meal. The waiter was very nice but with pre-theater seating, I always feel rushed, like they want you out to make room for the next seating. Still, Volos is an excellent choice for dinner before theater.
Meal was amazing as usual. And the service was great. This is our fourth time at this restaurant and we will definitely be back.
We had an exceptional meal at Volos this week. Two of us chose options from the pre-theatre menu while one ordered from the regular menu. We were unsure of a choice of Greek wine and our waiter went above and beyond in helping us select the right one and then brought us a tasting sample before we went ahead and ordered just to be sure. The food was amazing. The scallops were huge, the salmon cooked perfectly and the braised lamb fell off the bone. I would recommend the feta mashed potatoes for sure. Without a doubt this was one of the best restaurant experiences I have had in awhile and am looking forward to returning to this lovely restaurant in the future.
good pre-show dinner, quality Greek food down town, good service
