F'Amelia Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
Lovely patio seating on a quiet neighbourhood street. Freshly made excellent pasta. Fine seafood linguine, and a carbonara dish, the latter made with spinach and prosciutto. An enjoyable Indian summer experience.
Excellent service combined with delicious food at a reasonable price. Pizza special of the day (pulled pork among other things) was absolutely delicious.
Great experience - amazing ambience - looks great lit up at night. Best to eat in good weather to enjoy the outdoors. Service was prompt and friendly, and professional.
Can't wait to go back!
Enjoyed the food and delicious pasta. Pizzas were also very good. Service a little spotty, but decent. Prices are in line with other comparable places. Great flavours and we left very satisfied.
It was very cold in the restaurant. The door to the patio was either always open or usually open. Hoped the pizza oven would warm things up but never did. Food was fantastic.
Excellent! They accommodated us on the patio even though we had not reserved the outside.
Enjoyed the restaurant and would return - only complaint is the service. The waiter was very accommodating and friendly, except there was an issue with the wine order.
The bottle was advertised as a 2007 I believe, and the label said 2017. When questioned, the waiter said it did not make much of a difference, they would taste the same. There was no explanation as to why the wine was not as stated in the menu. I was very disappointed by this...
Otherwise I enjoyed the food, the ambience, and value of the meal and dining experience.
It was ridiculously cold in the restaurant. Sure, the people outside had heat lamps, but everyone inside was exposed to the cold from the open doors. They should really heat the inside too if they insist on leaving the patio open on a cold night. It was hard to enjoy my meal.
The food, on the other hand, came SCREAMING hot. I burned my mouth on the first bite of lasagna. The waitress only warned me not to touch the dish, but she should have warned me that the food would take at least 20 minutes to be edible. I had to nibble on my husband's dinner until mine was the appropriate temperature for consumption. His mushroom risotto was good, though mostly just salt flavoured. Didn't get any truffle flavour at all.
We also shared the salumi plate. Delicious, but so meager.
I wouldn't come here again, nor recommend it. Maybe if their pasta boiler was working it would have been a better experience. But it was way too expensive for a place that has more of a homey atmosphere.
Great brunch. One of my favourites in the city
We had a table outside on a perfect summer evening. Our server Katie was friendly and very attentive. The salumi starter with a sampling of cheese and breads was delicious. Pastas and pizzas were equally wonderful.
Lovely little restaurant in a quiet residential street away from traffic and noise. We sat on the patio and had a lovely dinner.
Always a great meal and experience
F'amilia is a nice casual Italian Restsurante that uses local ingredients where possible to serve delicious and somewhat unique meals.
Our server's knowledge of their wines and food was excellent.
Our 6pm dinner was perfect but after 8pm is does get busy and this was a Thursday night. They seem to cope perfectly with the increase in diners however.
A wonderful dinner with excellent service.
We went specifically for the Giro D'Italia prix fixe menu and were disappointed that it wasn't available (in fact, the server didn't even know what we were talking about and had to ask). It's odd, because it was on their web site and on the menu board outside the restaurant, so not sure why it wasn't available. Anyway, we ordered off the regular menu and the food was delicious. It was a perfect evening for al fresco dining. Antipasto board was wonderful. Yummy cocktails, decent wine list.
A belated birthday celebration and to take in their Summerlicious menu, we enjoyed dinner on a Friday evening. Our server Gregory took the time to explain our selections and our hostess Tonya was friendly and had great taste in the music which was playing. Our appetizers and main courses were tasty; desserts were delightful and our inside table against the railing gave us access to both inside and patio ambience. Loved it and can't wait to visit F'Amelia again, perhaps to try a weekend brunch.
Food portions were very small for Summerlicious and we did comment on this issue to our server
Friendly and attentive staff, good food - the fried gnocchi was to die for.
We went for Summerlicious. My husband ordered the lamb which consisted of two small pieces of lamb covered with fat. I ordered a shrimp pasta off the regular menu which had four tiny shrimp in it. The pasta was tasty but $24.00 for a small dish with four shrimp is ridiculous. The peach salad appetizer consisted of a few thin slices of peach with buffalo mozzarella, a tiny portion. We sat outside on the patio which was the one redeeming aspect of the evening as it was a beautiful night. If Summerlicious is supposed to introduce people to new restaurants in the city, F'Amelia failed miserably.
The server was not very nice and the service was slow.
F'Amelia has become a favourite for my friend and I, particularly for pre-theatre dining. After fighting traffic into Toronto, it presents with a calming atmosphere (at least in the early evening). The service is attentive and friendly, and the food delicious, albeit a little pricey. I can't stop ordering the amazing lasagna, which is served in a bowl.
We'll be back!
I used to live round the corner from the restaurant, and dined there many times. I went back for dinner with friend. The kitchen was up to its usual standard, and that was impressive given that it was struggling with the 'Summerlicious 'crowds. But service was poor, from start to finish.
I booked on line, requesting a table on the terrace. We arrived to find the house 3/4 full, yet we had been assigned a table indoors. I mentioned this to the greeter and--without apology, and with obvious irritation--she said 'We don't take reservations for the patio.' I said, 'Fair enough, but I did put that down under 'special requests'; if you couldn't honour our request the thing to do would have been to call me back and tell me.' [And then we would have gone elsewhere--it was a patio evening.] Then she sneered, 'It was a REQUEST!' (I am not making this up.) I was, of course, well aware that my request was not, for example, a command. But the proper way to deal with a request--especially when the reservation form *invites* special requests--is to either *honour it* or *to contact the client in advance and explain why you cannot*. Deciding to simply ignore it till the guests arrive and then rudely deny it is just disgraceful. But it gets worse! Then, with increasing irritation that a guest dare express dissatisfaction, she said, 'NO restaurants in Toronto take reservations for patio tables.! So we went from incompetence, to rudeness, to an outright lie. Happily, at that point a couple on the terrace asked for their bill and, we eventually got our table as requested.
But then the server took over! It was just one error after another: didn't know the wine list, forgot the wine, returned to ask again which wine we wanted , forgot requests for bread, pepper.... Friendly enough, but not with it .
Its a good neighbourhood restaurant, with occasionally inventive cooking, but badly let down by front of house staff. It needs to get professional.
We loved the restaurant atmosphere. Greg, our server was excellent and Tonia gave us a very warm reception when we arrived.
Some of us thought that the menu was limited and one of us asked for a substitution, which was denied although I (the host) indicated that I would be happy to pay the cost for the substitution. It seemed a bit weird to be denied the substitution for which I would have happily paid but it did not spoil a very enjoyable evening and we just consumed more wine instead.
Having said that, I would probably not go back unless the menu offered more variety or flexibility. There was lots to choose from geared to pasta and pizza but outside that range, the menu was too limited for our particular group.
For people who have not visited the restaurant, it is worth at least one meal to form your own opinion.
we were meeting friends from Australia and felt the menu and ambience of F'Amelia was perfect to show off Toronto. and it didn't let us down. we will be back
Amazing food, fantastic service. This was our first time visiting F'Amelia after moving to the area. We'll definitely be back.
After a chaotic start to our dinner service, we ended up having a wonderful experience. Staff seemed stretched thin, but the food was fresh and fabulous. Staff was friendly and accommodating even In the midst of the chaos. Enjoyable evening overall. Thank you!
One of fav locals! Great reception by a wonderful hostess. Nice selection of wines by the glass. Entree of grilled calamari and asparagus super yummy! Pizzas very tasty. Shrimp pasta excellent! We'll be back many more times!
We had a lovely dinner, with very gracious service--excellent calarmari starter.
Tasty , homey food , lovely atmosphere . Outstanding service - funny ,descreat , professional .
Very pleasant atmosphere .
Will be back.
Great Italian food, as good as in Europe. One of the best Italian restaurants in Toronto.
We have been here before and liked it however on coming back we found the food very average , calamari not fresh at all and the price tag very high . Dessert expensive and really below average . In fact we were hungry when we left .
Outstanding neighbourhood favourite that never disappoints. Great people, service and cuisine to celebrate Mother's Day. Thanks to the great staff! We'll be back! 😊
Crowded entrance - somewhat uncomfortable having to move continually out of the way of waitstaff, who seemed disorganized. Pizzas very good, pastas good but not outstanding. Many wines by the glass but so-so quality.
Meh. I try to like this place, but it's just not that great. Maybe if I lived in the area, I'd see the value. But, it's overpriced for the 'rustic' setting and the food just isn't good enough.
My girlfriend and I found our way to F'Amelia through a recommendation from a friend. We could not be happier with the entire experience. The food, staff, atmosphere, etc. made for the perfect cap to an already amazing Saturday in Toronto. Needless to say, we will definitely be coming back to F'Amelia in the future.
Disappointed. We requested a quiet table and were placed beside the loudspeakers we asked to have the music turned down but within a few minutes it was back up again. Menu very limited. Meatball appetizer was bland salad was OK. Pasta with rabbit and pa with prosciutto were both tasteless.
The food was delicious, but the main portions are very small, so the rating of this being a moderately priced restaurant should include this disclaimer!
The brunch was delicious! We've only gone for dinner in the past but this is one of the best brunches I've had in the city. We will be going back soon.
OK food. Little too salty of new pizza. Wine selection was decent
Delicious. A gem. Intimate setting. It was nice to be able to have a conversation without loud music or noise. Tasty food. Nice ambiance.
Great family owned restaurant. Cute place for a date. AMAZING Risotto and great specials.
