We went to the Farmhouse Tavern to celebrate a birthday. This was our first visit and we loved the cozy atmosphere. You felt as if you were at a friend's country cabin. The service was excellent and we liked the fact that the food is locally sourced. The fact that they offer vegetarian selections makes it extra special. The only thing we would like to see is larger portions! We will happily return!

Food was great, but our waitress was very cold and unfriendly. We felt rushed even though there was plenty of tables free. It's too bad because I would go back for the food.

I've been to the Farmhouse Tavern several times and love going there with carnivore friends since they do an amazing job preparing meat dishes. The food was terrific, the room was nice and cozy, and the service super friendly, attentive and accommodating as usual. My only complaint was the wait staff kept trying to take dishes away before we were finished eating – we had to keep reiterating that we weren't finished. I could understand the rush if there was a wait for tables, but that wasn't the case. I do hope they relax a bit on the plate clearing obsession, it's a great spot to linger, share dishes and enjoy a few cocktails in the evening.

It was a delightful evening! Delicious, creative cuisine, beautifully served. We had the Ploughman platter first and really enjoyed the duck, cheeses and pickled vegetables and fruits. Warning: it is a lot to eat! (Especially given what was to come.) The food that followed was excellent in its simple goodness. The ribeye steak was one of the most succulent, wonderfully flavourful (yet essentially unadorned) pieces of meat I have tasted in a long time. The ratatouille was delicately-flavoured, the grilled broccoli properly cooked. The sommelier chose some excellent Ontario wines to complement our food choices. The wait staff was cheeky, helpful, fun and welcoming. Thanks for the great hospitality...we will be back!

I went for brunch. My meal was a poached egg on a fish cake with holandaise (fish benedict) and a side salad. It was well priced for a locally sourced meal but it was very underwhelming. The fish cake was soggy and under-seasoned and the holandaise was alright but there was very little of it. All in all, I'd expected much better from this place that I'd been meaning to check out for a while. Even if brunch isn't their strong suit, I expect to enjoy my meal when I go out to eat, and while it wasn't disgusting, it just wasn't very good -- amateurish.

Buck a shuck on Thursday. They had beautiful Pickle Point oysters that were shucked perfectly. Good craft beer. A bit precious. You kind of feel like you’ve inconvenienced the servers if you don’t have a beard and tattoos or your wife isn’t wearing oversized glasses and flannel. That’s a shame because the entrees were good as well. It isn’t a dive bar, so the service should match the bill.

Our server was very helpful recommending how much food we should order for splitting. Drink list offered multiple cider varieties which I appreciated . Food was delicious - no matter what you order get a side of their bread and butter for sure.

I was early and here was a lack of welcome from the waitresses, instead 'oh you are early'...she looked at me as if i was alien.
I got the same blank look when I asked if I could sit on the patio and have a drink. No one attempted to serve me and I had to go into the restaurant and ask if I could have a drink. The waiter was an improvement once my friends joined and the meal was good except we were given our bill without asking for it or being asked if we wanted another drink. We did want to sit and have another drink but it was so abrupt the we just paid and left.

Decent place as we had been there before 2x in the winter but this time not so much fun. May give it pass this summer.

Went on a Thursday when they happened to have buck a shuck (which is an amazing deal - oysters were very fresh, and opened well). All of the food was exceptional, we had the barnyard burger, bread & butter, smoked kale salad and oysters. The only disappointment was the fried pickles....they were not fried dill pickles but rather assorted house pickles like onions, peppers, coating was very thin, pieces small and not particularly crispy, seemed like more of a garnish for a burger than a side dish. A neighbouring table got the ploughman platter and it looked amazing, we will definitely try that next time.

Great spot with a good neighbourhood vibe and great food.

Love the effort the staff puts in trying to come up with creative dishes based on local products. For the most part the dishes were good, however slightly lacking in flavour and seasoning. Biggest issue was the execution that could have been a little fine tuned. That said, the Ontario based wine list had some excellent selections and the artisanal cheeses used on the ploughman’s platter and cheese board were delicious!

The food was disappointed. Appetizer steak tartare was too salty. I ordered a fish and chip, the fish was raw. My wife ordered a sausage pasta, lacked of taste. The service was great, waitress with good smile and nice attitude.
