FarmHouse Tavern simply a place that never disappoints. Well worth the outing. Thank you!!
We will be back for sure!
We have been here many times but not in a few years. Food was good but had veered away from sharing and was less inventive. Out of several wines on the list. More high quality tavern than the rustic fine dining I recalled. Still good and reasonably priced.
Food and service were fantastic - a very comfortable vibe. Nothing is rushed and everything about the meal was clearly well thought out and delicious! F*ck Monday’s is a total treat!
Brunch menu was solid: savoury and sweet options. Get there early as they ran out of one of their signature items just before we got there.
Portions were just right: didn’t leave you feeling overly stuffed for the rest of the day.
We always have a good meal here.
Glad that they had veg and vegan options but the decor is definitely very animal-y (FYI for non-meat eaters who may be bothered by it). Good service, and I really like the farm-to-fork concept. The food was yummy (I had the kale Benny) but the portion felt small (eggs on biscuit and salad). A potato or another starchy side dish would have been nice. My bf had to order a second plate.
I was really excited to visit Farmhouse Tavern as I heard great things about the food and the ever changing menu. I went with four of my friends and we were able to get a table on the outdoor patio which was beautiful. I must say the food did not disappoint (I had the barnyard burger, it was delicious!). However, our experience with their wine was terrible. We ordered a bottle of Riesling and the waitress brought it over for us to taste and serve. During the tasting, I very quickly realized the wine was warm and tasted a lot like vinegar so we asked the waitress if we could switch to another wine. She told us that they do not usually take a wine bottle back after tasting (which defeats the purpose of offering a tasting in the first place!). After some back and forth she agreed to switch our bottle to a Pinot Grigio. However, that bottle of wine was warm too even with keeping it in an ice bucket! We decided to not make a scene and drink the bottle however, that must have been the worst bottle of wine I've ever had. I will say the waitress was pleasant with us and tried her best to be hospitable however, it seems the restaurant does not have a great wine serving policy.... I would not recommend if you like to drink wine with your food. If you're just interested in just eating, this place is definitely worth the visit.
Sunday night is super special at Farmhouse.
Hourly specials, delicious cocktails, great craft beer selection, and the food is out of this world. Thoughtfully prepared and served.
The best burger in town by far as well as super friendly staff.
It was alright. Decent food. Nice service. Nice cocktail and wine. Ah yeah..it was grand relly
Took a really long tome to get our food
Farm fresh food & lovely server. Will be back soon.
Our meal took well over an hour to arrive without explanation.
When the vegan option arrived it was bland and not filling in the slightest. There was challenges in ensuring a gluten free option. Overall, very disappointed.
Always a great experience at our favourite restaurant!
We had a reservation for 10 people and only 6 ended up coming. Farmhouse was accommodating and friendly. The food and drinks were very good, the staff was great. Overall a really positive experience for all of us. Thanks very much!
The “Whole Duck for 2” on the menu intrigued me. They didn’t have it that night, but the Duck Pasta and the Ribeye were awesome. My wife can see herself having cravings for the Duck Pasta, and that alone is a high compliment. The bread was toasted perfectly and the herb butter one of the best we’ve had (my 6 yr old had 2 full slices). Bone marrow was fresh and I wish there was more on the bone, literally. Smoked beets tartare was refreshing and appetizing, and the duck wings were surprisingly moist with the BBQ sauce. Lots of beer selection. We had a bottle of red and I wish for more selection. Highly recommend neighbourhood place. Will be back.
The service was spectacular - such a pleasant server with all the right amount of attention. We all had the burger but with various changes to toppings - they got all the changes right and it was delicious!
Sit at the kitchen bar if available, "Dinner and a Show"
This place never fails to impress. My husband wished that there was more meat on the brunch menu, but I found there to be a satisfactory amount. Both my grandmother and I had the fois cakes (superb) my mother had the Benny, though she didn't care for the biscuit, and finally my husband had the burger witch we already know it's outstanding and it was. Bottom line: go here.
The owner was rude to many of the diners from our party eg. he was rude and impatient when asking my sister in law if she needed a high chair. The main meals took over 45 minutes to arrive which was unacceptable. We deliberately had an early reservation because there were four children in the party. At one point I even asked if the pastas for the kids could come out first. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived. When I checked about the meals I was first told it wd be 6 minutes, the second time the owner rudely ignored/dismissed my question. The meals didn’t come for at least another 15 minutes. There was absolutely no acknowledgement about the extremely slow dinner service when the meals finally arrived.
The steak related meals were poorly seasoned and really lacked flavour, family members struggled to eat it. My husband took much of his steak home bc he didn’t want to waste it given the price he paid. The kids spaghettoni which I tried at the end of my meal was undercooked and hard, not al dente. The duck pasta was passable though w barely any duck and just drowning in sauce. We liked the bread w the beetroot butter and the burger was enjoyed.
Our female server was friendly and helpful but when things started going sideways she became inaccessable.
I used to work as a waiter in a variety of restaurants and was sadly disappointed by the lack of friendly hospitality by the owner, the extremely slow dinner service, and the mediocre food despite rave reviews.
Excellent food and drink in a casual atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back.
The food was good, not great. $21 for a burger and fries needs to be much better than it was.
It was good but slightly overpriced for what it was. Service was friendly but missed a few things like asking us if we wanted dessert. We had to get up and finally ask and were told the kitchen was closed and nothing was available.
I was really disappointed in the the drinks. $7 for a virgin Cesar, I would have expected horseradish and some flavor, but it was just Motts Clamato juice with some stuff on the rim. Also, the burger was very greasy. I was surprised it had an egg on it as well, NOT what I was expecting. The duck pasta was also very greasy.
Also, NO disabled access which blows my mind this day and age and for the prices they are charging. My friend with a stroller couldn't make it in.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food
Met friends for brunch. There were 3 of us and we were seated at a table for 2, but that was the only disappointing thing.
Food was great. Service was great.
Would go back.
Super interesting menu. Everything was delicious. Service was great.
Our 30 somethings find it hard to get us all together due to busy schedules, so the fact that we could reserve a table for a Sunday brunch here was a huge help to our scheduling issues. The coffee was flowing and the food was deliciously different! A good time was had by all.
The noise level was deafening when we entered so we were very relieved to be seated in the adjoining room by the window. And this worked for us – closer to the open kitchen in this small second room would have been too noisy and chaotic.
We knew the brunch menu was very limited but had anticipated a few more offerings including a frittata. The duck eggs "benny" were a bit of a shock. Regretfully, we failed to ask about chicken egg options. The eggs benny came with a choice of kale or a combo of salmon and bacon. Both versions featured a griddled biscuit – not the world's best idea – dense and greasy. The hollandaise, presumably also duck egg had a forgettable personality of its own. The accompanying salad was unremarkable. The restaurant was so jammed-packed we had to leave the table to find a server for water refills and the cheque.
Overall good experience with the food and service. The only drawback was when the guy brought my friend back her $15 change, he took $5 back. Probably as a gratuity, but he took it WITHOUT EVEN ASKING (this guy wasn’t our server). My friend said she was planning to leave the $10 as a tip to our gracious and warm waitress, but since he did that she changed her mind.
It was great- just felt a bit rushed since we booked brunch a month ago and were in and out in an hour and 15. Maybe not the best time to try and catch up with friends but nonetheless delicious food and ambience as always. Will continue to recommend and go back!
The chef was so friendly, she came out and recommended dishes, asked how our meal was and was entertaining other tables in the same way. It was a great atmosphere! Also the servers were very friendly and helpful as well.
Excellent local spot, great for foodies with a fresh menu each visit.
Staff is friendly and welcoming.
Bar sitting overlooking the kitchen was a great experience. Food is always awesome, as is the entire staff.
Food was amazing
Service was spot on
Comfy, cozy and relaxing space
Excellent food at good value. Great little neighbourhood spot.
I was recommended Farmhouse by a friend because I'm from out of town. I went for brunch and was seated at the bar, which was great! Being right at the bar our server was right in front of us and quickly got us our drinks. I had to get up to see the menu but my server walked me through the cutely named dishes. My wife is a vegetarian but really wanted to try the eggs benedict so the chef made her a special tomato and basil vegetarian option. Food was great, really enjoyed my quirky server. It was a little cold in the restaurant and the coffee wasn't great but over all an amazing brunch. Highly recommend and recommend sitting at the bar!
Very cold inside made worse every time the door opened.
A warm and cozy enough ambiance for a miserable March day. A little loud, though admittedly, we were there at the peak of Sunday brunch rush hour.
Both menu and food lives up to its appetizing reputation, give or take details such as average coffee and slightly overdone cheese biscuits (which serve as the inspired base for delicious “trout benny” but did not even yield easily to a steak knife!).
Friendly service, but rather slow, though I did hear something about a faulty oven...
Would definitely go back to sample some of the other very tempting items on the menu.
