Egle Loit, a trained pasta chef, has previously popped up mostly around East and North London, creating a buzz with her pre-restaurant residency at Vestry House Museum in 2023.Founder of Darling’s cares dearly about the craft that fresh pasta making requires. “One can turn humble ingredients into abundance with skill,” shares the restaurateur. Darling’s is designed to be an open space to be shared between the guests and the team, therefore there are no barriers between the service area and the dining area. Tiella Trattoria & Bar is chef Dara Klein's debut restaurant, housed in a 170 year old former Victorian pub on London's iconic Columbia Road. Tiella is an homage to Dara's parents trattoria that she was raised in, Maria Pia's. Drawing on her Pugliese heritage and her upbringing in Emilia-Romagna, Dara's cooking focuses on regional specialities that change with the seasons. You can expect hand rolled pasta, unctuous braises and the best of both Italian and English produce. There is a 30 cover dining room which you can book, a 15 cover bar which is walk in only and a spacious outdoor terrace. Tiella started as a kitchen residency at The Compton Arms pub, which ran for two years, building a loyal following and acclaim, including a listing in The Good Food Guide and the National Gastropub Awards. Tiella's new permanent site has a buzzy atmosphere with an open plan kitchen, plenty of natural light and beautiful wood panelling throughout.

Poppies in Hanbury Street was Pop’s first restaurant and the one where the journey began. The retro-diner and takeaway is close to Pop’s heart as it brought 70year old Pat out of retirement. It fulfilled his lifelong dream of opening an East End chippie and a desire to offer customers a taste of the old East End.

A short, seasonal menu of exciting dishes. We very much enjoyed the trout and goats curd to start. Then had poached pollock and the bavette with homemade fries. Also indulged in the bread basket, because Irish breads are always great. All cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. I wish I had more room to finish all the fries and bread! My sister took the Guinness cake to go, which made the world’s most indulgent breakfast the next day. Service was friendly, attentive and helpful- loved the chilled claret recommendation.

It was the first time for me and my husband and we simply loved the food. The 2 pastas we got were super tasty and the tiramisù really yummy. I definitely recommend the place. We will go back.
