We've been serving the people of Braintree and beyond since 2015 and in that time have humbly become ‘one of Essex’s best restaurants.’ We have received recognition from the AA, having been awarded an AA Rosette for ‘culinary excellence’ for five consecutive years, and then in 2023 we received our second rosette, putting the restaurant amongst the top 10 restaurants in Essex. Our food is of course one of our main focuses, but we don’t just stop there. Attentive, relaxed and friendly service is as important as the food and our objective is to make your visit an enjoyably memorable one. Our exceptional wine supplier, Peter Watts Wines (based up the road in Coggeshall) allows us to offer you delicious wines of an exceptional quality. Then add some cocktails, jazz, personality, creativity, a few hidden quirks and we like to think this all culminates to create a truly wonderful experience.     We had a lovely date night and enjoyed the three-course meal. The staff were wonderful, attentive and made us feel really welcome. The food was amazing, and the fillet of beef was one of the best I have ever had. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be visiting again.

    We ate in the bar area where there was plenty of atmosphere. Service was excellent, friendly, helpful staff and prompt service. Great food and range of cocktails (alcoholic and non alcoholic). Highly recommend.

    Another great meal at The Angel a lovely experience every time. Good beers and great food and service. The servers are always excellent and the atmosphere friendly. Looking forward to our next visit.

    Very friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Every course was delicious and the whole meal including drinks was exceptional value for money! Will definitely be revisiting and recommending.

    We had a really good evening. Food was was and the place was buzzing but we could hear each other and have a good conversation. We live a 20 minute walk from The Swan and is is definitely worth the walk.
