Having recently returned from Turkey a friend and I decided to 'get our fix' and tried Mevan. The kebabs we ordered were one of, if not the best, we've ever had, including in the country itself! Staff were attentive and the food came out quickly. Well worth a visit. We'd pre-booked as it was a Saturday night but there were a few tables free so walk-ups are probably possible.

A warm and comfy restaurant, we find the staff attentive without being annoying. I like their open kitchen where you can see your food being cooked. Everything cooked from scratch, and if you want something cooked a certain way or want to swop out side for something else, they are happy to do it. I had medium rare rib eye steak - which was cooked perfectly and I swopped out the roast potatoes and veg for thin chips and a dressed salad. Hubby had steak, peppercorn sauce, roast potatoes and veg (perfectly cooked green beans and carrots) and our son had the Calzone which he really enjoyed - it was the size of a big plate with some dipping sauce. Nonna's is the perfect restaurant for us, its 10 mins drive from our home, you can always park either in the street or nearby Sainsbury's, service is quick and the food has always been excellent. I cook from scratch the other 6 days a week (and work full time) so one meal a week at Nonna's is a real treat. Also no service charge so you tip what you feel is good for you.

We arrived early for our booking which was no issue, and they seated us straight away. The restaurant is strikingly beautiful in such a gorgeous old building. There were only the regular menus on the table, so I had to ask for the early bird menu, which the staff seemed like they didn’t really want to give us. The food was absolutely delicious. Fresh and piping hot. The service was a little slow, but overall a great evening and would definitely return!
