It’s a British themed pub, although as a Brit myself it’s a far cry from a real British pub, it’s a Disney/Austin Powers version. Nonetheless it was a good night out, the food and beer was good, waiter service attentive and the atmosphere fun. I visit again next time I am in Toronto
I absolutely love this place !! It was my second time going and once again I was more than pleased. I went with my Mom before seeing Wicked the Musical. The atmosphere is fun - music playing, sports on TV, but the food and service is what I must rave about. The servers and hosts are always so friendly and genuine. This time I had the fish tacos & nachos they were both amazing. The last time I was there I had the burger and it was mouth watering worthy... and huge. I would 100% recommend Firkin on Yonge.
Excellent staff and great food and value for your money. Super loud. I mean really, really loud music. We ate a table near the rear of the restaurant away from the bar area and we had to lean in and almost shout our conversation. Very much a loud, after work for drinks, party atmosphere.
Nice interior in a prime location, but the food was very underwhelming - from the menu online, looks like decent pub food, but upon entry you realize that the food is sub-par at best. Service was not consistent as well.
Great server, everyone’s meal was great except the fish and chips. Over cooked so very disappointing.
Thouroghly enjoyed our dining experience. Had a very competent and friendly waitress. The food was hot and very tasty. The service was quick and we had lots of time to get to our concert at Massey Hall. Would definitely recommend friends to dine here
Only complaint is wish we could have sat at a booth instead of near the bar, it was a bit too loud and when we asked we were simply told none were available even though we did make a reservation.
Good food variety. Unhealthy choices mostly, but that's what you would expect from a pub. Overall, the food was tasty and the atmosphere fun. Service was good, polite staff and didn't have to wait long until the food came. I would recommend.
Our server was very good, very accommodating. I wish I could remember her name. Food was delicious. Good pub fare.
The food was fine, I had the firkin burger with fries and chipotle dipping sauce. Had a 20 oz molson Canadian for $6. Service was good with no complaints. I went with my brother in law who is very fussy and even he couldn't find anything to complain about. After dinner we went out the back door to okeefe lane and we were at Massey Hall in 30 seconds. If you want a decent restaurant with friendly service look no further.
Fish and chips were great.
Service was fast
Went down to a concert at massy hall this place is just around the corner and good eats and drinks
cramped in an awkward table upstairs up against a workstation. Food very averag at best. Server was pleasant and friendly, but seemed to be busy and we rarely saw her.
Great food and great service. Good please to have a quick meal before show
Amazing food, service, space. Was a little on the noisy side but not too too bad. Second floor was quieter :)
Great spot for a bite before a show at Massey Hall
Service was just OK. It was busy, but waitress should of checked to see how food was after serving. Food wasn’t very good at all. Poutine fries, below average, Butcher on the rye sandwich was awful. Meat was tough and very fatty. Couldn’t even bite through it.
Great place to eat before the show.
Firkin on Yonge is a great place for a pre-theatre bite and drinks. The Steam Whistle was good, thanks to the waitress that pushed it on us. We had the nachos with chorizo sausage, great! The hot sauce they serve is tasty and locally made.
We all had a great night. Great for accessibility, with easy entrance into the building and an elevator for the upper floor and the washrooms, which are also accessible (for those who aren't able to take the stairs).
Good pub style food and the service was good. Staff were welcoming and helpful with ideas/food selections.
Thank you for the great atmosphere before heading to the Elgin Theatre!
A fun time and tasty meal. Although we reserved for 2, friends called to reserve and asked to be seated with us. We were accommodated without being made to feel as if we were putting anyone out. Our server was very pleasant and knowledgeable. I though she went above and beyond the call of duty with us and always had a smile. We enjoyed ourselves so much, we came back after the theatre for a drink and conversation. We had the same server and she was equally as accommodating and pleasant.
Seemed understaffed. Everyone was polite, so I don't think it was any particular worker's attitude.
The service at this location is very slow. Seemed that there was 1 waitress for the entire upstairs. My meal came wrong. I asked for no spice yet the kitchen sent it out with the spicy spread on it. The waitress was nice but very slow to bring our drinks.
Ordered the curry chicken and rice. It was totally inedible. The rice was clumped together and my fork could not penetrate to pick it up. I couldn’t really find the chicken in the curry it was all large pieces of onions.
Will never come here again.
Great location. Food was very good. The service was perfect. Ty Mark.
We had a relatively late Saturday night dinner here and ran into one snag - kids cannot be present after 9. We did manage to eat and leave in time. Food was bar fare with a more varied menu than expected, including curry. Everyone else had burgers and poutine. Onion rings were particularly good. Service was quite efficient.
We had a large group that had dinner after a recent theatre show. Our table was ready when we arrived and we loved the location - we were seated in a small alcove upstairs which was great for our group to talk and enjoy our meal (too many times you go to restaurants and you can't have a conversation because the music is so loud)!! The staff were very friendly and the service was very good. We will definitely come back the next time we are at a show!
Great service and food was good overall I enjoyed it and it was nice and close to the Elgin Theatre
The food was very good but the service was very slow . To be fair , there were 7 of us .
Good food but the pub was very loud and noisy...too noisy to be able to talk to my fellow diners.
We were late for our reservation but a quick phone call saved our table no problem! Fish n Chips wasn't fantastic but the burgers were good. Service was excellent especially considering how busy it was!
The staff was very accommodating; the food selection was broad enough and tasted good; the value for money was appropriate. All in all, taking a large family for a meal prior to attending the theatre was a pleasant experience.
Easy reservation booking! Got a text when the table was ready. The 3 Little Yorkies were amazing, but don't recommend for sharing...we ordered 2 for 4 of us to share, and then ordered 2 more! Delicious!! Wine is very reasonably priced. Will definitely go back!!
We never ate. They tookway to long to take our order.
We went for a pre-theatre meal. The food was adequate, but not spectacular. That being said, it was delivered in a reasonable amount of time, and the prices were not too bad. The noise level made conversation difficult, even in the back of the restaurant.
my family always comes down to Toronto for a Christmas celebration. We have been coming down for 32 years and Mr green jeans was our restaurant of choice . It closed 3 years ago and we tried differ restaurants as a replacement but had no luck until we tried FIRKIN ON YOUNGE .
The restaurant was alive with happy people ,great music and fantastic service .
We had a party of 11 and it was unanimous, we found our replacement.
Continued success and we will back December 2018
We dined at Firkin on Yonge a couple of weeks ago and had a great meal. This time however we were disappointed. The chicken breast on the salad was very dry, over cooked, and did not have much flavour. Although we enjoyed the ambiance of the resturant/pub, we were quite dissatisfied with our meal. Our server was pleasant and she had no control over the food.
I hope the cook (s) got the message from us.
Music was quite loud. Main courses were good however dessert was over cooked. Service was fine.
Too noisy. Music too loud for 5 pm. While eating it would be nice to have music lower to allow conversation. Louder maybe around 8 pm. Food ok but not as good as expected.
