Lunch: Monday - Sunday: 11:30am - 2:30pm
Dinner: Monday - Sunday: 5:00pm - 9:00pm
This is the third time we go to Fish Cafe and as usual we liked the food, the fish -halibut- was fresh but the scallops portion was quite small. However, this time it didn't go as well as before because the restaurant had a strong, very unpleasant smell of mopping with a dirty mop. The odour was so strong that it took us more than 15 minutes to become nose blind, almost the same time that took the food to arrive. We went at 5:00 pm on a Sunday, so we are definitely not going back to dine before 6:30 pm!
Great fresh fish and super sides.
Main dishes were great, was a bit disappointed in the house salad, it’s normally very good, not this time though, tomatoes not ripe, and dressing was blah
One of my favourite fish restaurant in Vancouver. Consistently good, always fresh fish. Can't say enough how good the food is.
Another great lunch at one of my favourite restaurants in town.
Simple and delicious. I've been eating here since it opened and still find it superb. Fresh fish of every kind. One of the best in the city for straightforward seafood done right.
Casual with great always fresh fish. Best fish and chips in Vancouver!
This place is consistently excellent. Stays in its own lane and gives excellent seafood at low prices simply served. Best fries in Vancouver still.
This was our first visit and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The fish was perfectly cooked with simple but very tasty sauces. The space is small and cozy and was filled with neighbourhood people.
Lunch was excellent in this very busy Kerrisdale restaurant. Great clam chowder and blackened seafood salad.
Great choice for lunch in Kerrisdale. Fish was excellent and service was fine. Would certainly go back and recommend to friends.
A great find! If you love excellent quality, fresh fish and seafood simply prepared to exceptional taste and presentation, this is the place. The blackened calamari - out of sight!
The food was unbelivably good, quick and super friendly service. This is one of my favorite spots
There aren't a lot of seafood restaurants in Vancouver and most that are around tend to be limited to the fine dining category (very good but pricey). Fish Café is very good without the high prices. $17.95 for a good sized piece of Wild Sockeye and great chips - sign me up! I've been driving across town for years to eat here but it seems in the last few years I haven't made the journey. After eating here again recently I won't make that mistake again.
I've come to The Fish Cafe ever since it opened. My favourite is grilled scallops, garlic butter, rice. Someday, I'll have the ling cod, which I'm certain is also delicious.
Excellent food and good service. Moderate prices for great fish.
superb meal !
all around great experience, great value and great people.
best Halibut ever
The crab cakes were absolutely Delish loaded with lots of crab meat. Liked the texture & nuance of the kernels of corn. My Grilled Salmon was cooked to perfection & paired nicely with the rice.
My Bestie's Caesar salad was delectable with half dressing preferred. Her Fish&Chips were very well done.
The Good Eats made for a most pleasant evening of getting together! We shall return....
great find, with excellent food and friendly service
The fish was cooked perfectly. Great service. This is a great local spot that serves great seafood.
Fantastic seafood, the Platter for two is outstanding!! Grelled calimari is the best in town.... but prepared to be sat at a dirty table as the One waitress that wirks there can not keep up with everything. Service is slow, so dont be in a hurry- BUT the food is worth the wait!!!
Excellent experience for food, ambiance and service as always
On May 2nd my husband reserved a table for us for Mother's Day. However, when we called to say that we would be a couple minutes late, we told that there was no such booking. When we arrived space was found for us but we were told that we would have to leave in about 50 minutes.
The food was still excellent and the portions generous but our Open Table booking could have been handled better by the restaurant.
consistently good food in a friendly neighbourhood atmoshpere
They were somewhat rude when we arrived--we had reserved for 8 but one person did not come. They said we would be charged for 8 people. It was rather strange and they didn't end up charging us extra, but it did mar our experience. The food is delicious and the fish cooked properly.
Food is fresh and well prepared with a variety of choices and options for a little seafood restaurant.
Great food, good side dishes. Warm, friendly, neighbourhood feel.
Simply cooked, always fresh. The salmon is moist and delicious! Excellent french fries, Caesar salad and fish soup.
The main problem is ambiance and poor ventilation. The fish is always good.
Love their blackened swordfish , it was very juicy
Food is very good and presented very well. Fish Chowder and Fish (cod) and Chips were delicious.
Restaurant is casual, clean and small. Reservations or a call ahead probably a good idea.
Will come again.
We showed up on a Wednesday evening and it was pretty quiet in the restaurant. The server gave us a quick run down of the menu when we were seated and offered some helpful suggestions when asked. We ordered the blackened swordfish and cod. The food came out quickly and was delicious, no complaints whatsoever. I would definitely come back to this place and their location is nice since you've got the rest of Kerrisdale to enjoy before/after.
Very good value. Chef delivered rare delicious salmon as requested, exceptional! Many restaurants overcook fish even when medium or rare is specified.
Very good food and amazing service. The server was nice. The food was to die for. Get get the seafood platter with Halibut blackened. Amazing
Great little restaurant! I had the avocado and crab cake Benny and it was fantastic. The eggs were perfectly done. It came with a side salad and hash browns. Would definitely go again.
I had an early dinner with a friend and was pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant almost full on a week night. Both of us had trout, because it is not easy to find in most restaurants , along with Greek Salad. Service was quick but not rushed and our server was attentive. It has remained a good, casual Kerrisdale restaurant for many years now. I would recommend it for all ages.
I have never had lunch there, but imagine that it is very good as well.
As always, Fish Cafe delivers the best meal I have had in ages. We had a group birthday of 4 out of town friends, hands down best seafood, and that grilled calamari, c'mon *drool*
As always The Fish Cafe delivers. The seafood platter for 2 is a must, the grilled calamari alone makes me tear up a bit in food joy. Thanks again for the great dining experience, you made her birthday meal a wonderful one!
Came here as a family with a friend for the first time for supper on Fathers Day. Had read the reviews, so knew not to expect a fancy place. Also knew it was popular, and indeed all the tables were full or reserved. As mentioned in other reviews, the emphasis is on freshness, so not all of the kinds of fish listed on the website were available, but still a good selection. Clam chowder was good, fish soup so-so. Grilled calamari was tender but tasted a bit of burned grease. Swordfish, scallops, and red snapper were nicely grilled, served with rice that was a bit heavy (perhaps mixed with oil or butter?). Some veggies would have been appreciated. Fish (halibut) and chips were excellent. Good sized portions, no room for the 2 available desserts. The servers were friendly and efficient to start (we were one of the first groups of the night), though as things got busier we did have to ask for our cheque a couple of times. A basic, home-style meal, like Red Lobster, but with less salt. Convenient if you live in the neighbourhood.
Food was good, service by the server was excellent. It was the owner, who started complaining loudly that it cost him $10 for our reservation for 4 (two kids, 4 and 6) and that the kids didn't eat entrees and therefore he refused to honour my $26 cheque. He loudly announced that he was going to discontinue with Open Table. There were other patrons in the small restaurant and everyone heard. I suggest that you remove his restaurant from your service as he was rude a terrible owner/proprietor. The server apologized profusely on his part. We have dined there in the past but will NEVER go back.
Our group of four met again at The Fish House, a local gem. Three tried the brunch menu; my shrimp hash was cooked to perfection and served without toast to be gluten free. The salmon bennie was also much appreciated, the third option was enjoyed but I forget what was ordered. A salad suited the fourth. We all appreciate the laid back atmosphere where we can hear each other to catch up on events. Our server was great, attentive when wanted and letting us chat and eat. Look forward to the next time there.
