The food was not great. It lacked seasoning. There was too much mixing of savory and sweet with the mains. The staff are fantastic!!! The views are amazing. It has potential.

We had a fabulous meal here on 17th June.
The food was delicious and elegantly presented and the service was attentive , friendly and not overbearing.
The dining room decor is calmly restrained but with a magnificent view of the harbour.
We would definitely recommend the restaurant to visitors to Vancouver.

We celebrated our 39th anniversary at Five Sails. It was a perfect delightful evening. It was our hope to be at a window table but we had a great view and extraordinary service. It was an amazing night.

One of best meals we have had in years; and that is saying something as it had to compete with the view and action outside the wall of windows--of small planes taking off and landing in Vancouver Harbor.

The greeting and seating sat the tone for a wonderful meal! Attention from entire staff as well as knowing of an allergy at the table. Excellent presentation of every dish. Food was spot on!
Highly recommended even if you have time for only one visit.

They had a salmon special that was very good. The scallops were very good as well. I was not very impressed with the duck breast - it was a bit more tough than I expected. Soufflé was very good.

Decided to take my girlfriend out for a nice date night. We agreed upon 5 Sails because it had very good reviews and it didn't disappoint. The service was attentive but not in your face. We didn't feel rushed and were able to enjoy our meal and drinks with a beautiful view. The food was very well presented and tasted great. We had the seafood trio for an appetizer and she had the duck which was slightly over-cooked for how it was ordered and I had the lobster. Seemed like a decent selection of wines but I am not a wineo so I would be able to speak to it.

Five Sails is definitely should be given 5 Stars. Noted for an excellent Seafood restaurant-my wife had the sea bass-as she said” this is what top prepared seafood is all about “! I had two appetizers-Starting with Steak Tartare-served with thinly sliced cucumbers-right texture and superb flavor. I followed with “crispy “ sweetbreads -out of this world in flavor and presentation. Service matched the best we have had anywhere in this world. All this with a spectacular view of the harbor. Just a great start to our Canadian Vacation and 80th. Birthday celebration.

This is one of the finest locations imaginable, on the third floor of the Pan Pacific convention centre complex, overlooking Coal Harbour. The ambience is outstanding. No overcrowding, easily able to carry on a nice conversation without hearing anybody else’s. A refreshing change from so many new hip eateries. Vey nice amuse bouche, several appealing appetizers. The warm and cold seafood trio was outstanding. Wife’s sea bass entree was excellent, my veal tenderloin wrapped in pancetta was just okay. Should’ve known better, as I’ve been disappointed with veal too often in my life. Its hard to give it much flavour.
The restaurant, the meal, the service was all first rate.
Where this restaurant fails is in its wine list. The web site intriguingly suggests otherwise “wine list upon request”. I expected twenty or thirty fine local BC reds, with multiple varietals and price points from the many top notch Okanagan wineries. Not so. A few BC reds, A small selection of Bordeaux and Burgundies, a few Napa/Sonoma/Willametes. Thats about it. The same with whites.
A world class location and a fine menu deserves a better wine selection.

Loved the Five Sails. Service was outstanding and only outdone by the view which included a bald eagle perched on one of the sails watching us eat. Wow!

For a dinner with relatives I had not seen in years, this restaurant was convenient & quiet.
We had a window table and a view of a cruise ship for most of the meal, but a lovely view of the harbour, once the ship moved on. The food was good, & beautifully presented. Service was attentive & service was quick. I thought it good value for money but overall was underwhelmed.
Really the view is what makes this a good restaurant.
There are so many more spectacular restaurants to eat at in Vancouver. For our next meal together, I will choose somewhere where the food is the star attraction.

The restaurant was a real pleasant surprise. Located in the Pan Pacific Hotel it was only walking distance. We reserved a table and had a lovely view on a cruise ship that sailed why we were dining. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. We went for the tasting menu en it was perfect, heavenly.. We found out that the chef was Austrian, and he did really a perfect job : great combinations of tastes, beautifully presented. Excellent service. We would really recommend this restaurant for special occasions.

A beautifully located restaurant with views over the north shore of Vancouver, we happened to be there just as the sun was setting and the views were great, they made sure that the blinds were down just enough to stop the sun getting in your eyes, were attentive, and the food was great! There was also a cruise ship moored up close by, which led to some great people watching on board too, spectacular scenery!

Five Sails was by far our favorite restaurant during our stay in Vancouver!! Delicious food, wonderful service and WOW, what a beautiful setting... the views are amazing. Quite simply, our experience could not have been better. My husband got the lobster as his main course and I chose the sole. We had a feast of appetizers that we just couldn't pass up, one being their scallops. Treat yourself to an amazing meal!
