Great service and amazing food! Definitely recommend for a special night out!
The bear restaurant I have been to in Vancouver, the Five Sails blew me away. I took my girlfriend there on her first trip to Vancouver and the incredible view of Coal Harbour, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Stanley Park, the mountains, and the ocean blew us both away. The food itself was incredible, with fresh B.C. Halibut satisfying our appetites, while the mouth watering appetizers included shrimp and carrot soup served in espresso cups. The dessert menu was truly artisan and we picked an apple strudel with pistachio ice cream. The wine was an aromatic zinfandel that really set the mood. As the sun set beyond the mountains we sat and talked, drinking wine and taking in the food while the service was so professional and non intrusive that we didn’t even feel their presence unless we needed them. They moved around us with precision of ballroom dancers while catering to all of our needs quickly but non intrusively.
This provided for a truly beautiful romantic evening. On top of that the staff were able to fulfill a unique request of mine that was a romantic gesture to surprise my girlfriend, which she enjoyed profoundly. We had an incredible time at Five Sails Restaurant and I will definitely return. Gentlemen, if you are looking for a romantic evening with your lady, the Five Sails is the place to go.
Great anniversary dinner. Amazing food, and even better view
We went to Five Sails for date night on our last night visiting Vancouver and couldn’t have been more impressed.
For starters the restaurant is located in the beautiful pan pacific hotel and the Oceans bar below them had live music which really set the tone. When we walked in the staff were friendly and courteous and took our coats and had us seated immediately in an intimate table for two overlooking the harbour.
We couldn’t have been seated more than 2 minute when our waiter came and got our drink orders. He arrived back shortly with the five-sails mojitos we ordered and brought fresh sour dough.
That set the tone for the rest of the night. Our waiter (wish I remembered his name) was attentive and friendly. Never had to ask for more water and plates were cleared as soon as we were done. Food came out quickly and was all incredibly delicious.
Portion sizes aren’t large but are about average for what you’d expect at a fine dining establishment such as this. That said we definitely did t leave hungry.
We both had the daily specials. My wife had the slow braised Veal Cheeks, and I had the Halibut with Lobster knuckles. The food was fantastic. Dessert was equally delicious and came out quickly.
Overall we were very very happy with our experience and will be back for sure next time we’re back in Vancouver.
500 dollars for 2 people I would hope to have beer selection more then 2 types. I like Heineken personally. I ended up drinking up sparkling water. My wife got to enjoy her champagne and red.
Under new management, the Five Sails is maintaining the high levels of staff and cuisine it had under Gerry Sayers and Chef Dorfler. We are delighted and will be back.

Lovely ambience excellent service amazing view
Just Fantastic!
Proper for productive business meetings!
Great environment for successful agreements !
Très bon accueil, service top , très belle vue . Cuisine trop compliquée et mélanges de saveurs pas toujours adaptés ... Gagnerai en simplicité en s’appuyant simplement sur la fraîcheur et la qualité des produits sans en rajouter !
Five Sails is an outstanding restaurant. The food is simply the best! My wife and I tried the Chefs tasting menu and wine tasting menu, and it did not disappoint. The flavors of each dish were exploding in our mouths! The wine pairings matched beautifully, and we discovered some new favorites. The entire experience was memorable and we look forward to the next special occasion that we can celibate at Five Sails.
This is a beautiful restaurant with views of the water, city and mountains beyond. Quiet and elegant decor. Exceptional service. Food presentation is artful and very appealing. We had a variety of beef and seafood dishes, appetizers and desserts. Done to perfection.
Excellent food, stunning views, service bordering on unctuous from some.
Their services was first-class, they made an effort in providing special accommodation for my girlfriend and I since it was our anniversary. The price was a bit on the expensive side for the food, but the services made it worth while. Unfortunately, there was some issue with our foods that sort of ruined the evening but overall the dining expereince was enjoyable.
Great service, good menu variety, delicious food, incredible view. We will return!
Amazing service and view. Food was spectacular. Obviously a hot spot for tourists but a gem for locals for sure
Me and my partner attended for an evening meal here visiting from Cheshire England, and it was astonishing, the servers were very attentive and informative making great recommendations, the caviar was delicious and beautifully presented, and for mains my partner had lamb and myself the braised wagyu beef which cut like butter, both meals outstanding. We ended the evening having there highly recommended soufflet, a waiting time of around 20 minutes and definately worth the wait. The server then brought out a small piece of the house chocolate opera slice with a small edible happy anniversary sign after finding out we'd just recently celebrated our first year together. The resturaunt location was beautiful, the service was incredible, the chefs did an incredible job and we look forward to our next visit to beautiful vancouver so we can dine at the five sails again.
Just as good 34 years later. Memorable
Wonderful meal as always best view in the city and the duck was impeccable
Private, great views, amazing food. On our list for big celebrations. Totally worth it.
The food was amazing, the service was top-notch.
Has a great view of the city.
One of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver!
Very romantic and beautiful place to treat your spouse or lovers! Excellent view of North Vancouver and Lions Gate Bridge. This is not for big party because too much noise would ruin the ambiance of the restaurant. I took my wife there for Valentine's dinner and she really liked the place and food. They automatically added 18% on my bill for gratuities, maybe it was because of "Valentine's day"! We will go back again in the future!
Food was fabulous and setting was nice. We waited, however, for 40 minutes before our waiter noticed that we hadn't been served bread, the amuse-bouche or our appetizers. He did comp one glass of wine, which was nice, but not worth the wait.
Fantastic restaurant great view wonderful service. Such a memorable experience
The service is always impeccable.
Very beautiful view from the window tables, service was excellent and the food very delicious. I will most definitely come back as the wife and I enjoyed a lot.
would have preffered the music level to be much lower..... too loud for conversation... it interferes with conversation, having to speak up ......
Food, service, and view were amazing! Definitely would recommend to tourists and locals alike!
Great wine list, good service, beautiful view!
Excellent dinner - gourmet and very well prepared and presented. My husband had the salmon and said it was to die for. Service was prompt, courteous and very professional. The view is the best there is in Vancouver.
Chinese New Year
The tasting menu was outstanding and the service was superb as was the view over the Harbour. The ownership of the restaurant is changing as of 1 January. The chef and his wife were owners. I hope the next managers take as much care to keep Five Sails such a wonderful restaurant.
Food was amazing! Lamb and beef were delicious and cooked perfectly! The tenderloin was mediocre partly due to the way it was cooked. It was cut too thin and resulted in being overlooked. The duck breast was very tender and juicy.
The only flaw was the scallops. One of the scallops had a small piece of shell, which I think for a restaurant this level should not let this happen. I told the waiter and he didn’t do anything about it other than just a simple apology.
Service was very slow. There was only one main waiter serving the whole dining area. We waited at least 15 min for the main course to be served. Because of this delay, we couldn’t have our dessert because they needed the table back by 7:30pm.
Overall, great food but the service needs to be improved for sure!
The best experience ever. This must be even better than 5 stars for sure.
Absolutely amazing dinner experience.
This restaurant is one of the first bookings that I make when every I visit Vancouver. Its a special place with its spectacular views, impeccable service, and excellent food and wine list. With its overall friendly and relaxing ambiance makes this restaurant one that I highly recommend.
It was Christmas dinner. Set menu was a bit interesting for picky young teenager. But service was great. And beautiful view.
Very delicious and ambient Xmas Diner. Wonderful evening - thanks to the whole Team!
My wife and I had our Christmas Eve dinner here and it was a great experience. Our server, Chris, did everything to make us feel well attended and welcomed in Vancouver.
Food was excellent. Food presentation is art. Main server was a away for too long several times.
BIrthday dinner with a friend.
