Absolutely amazing dinner. Outstanding service. Magnificently prepared courses. Michelin Star please!!! Highly recommended. Don’t miss the tasting menu please.
We were so happy with everything except the party beside us that took photos of each other and the view during our entire meal, which we found very disconcerting, especially as it was quite clear from the menu that this was discouraged
The service was impeccable, there when you want it, not when you don't. The hostess took down my allergies, and followed up when I ordered and saved me from an unpleasant result. The severs were relaxed, there is a lovely view, the food was excellent.
Slightly flustered meal. Tasting menu didn’t feel relaxing. Some good standout dishes like the crab and the dessert. Suck skin wasn’t crispy and fat not rendered enough plus the beef whilst great had a burnt tasting sauce. Overall it was ok and with just a few tweaks could be great. Lovely views.
Honestly, this restaurant blew me away. I didn’t know it existed until i literally googled “fancy restaurants in downtown vancouver” and it did not disappoint. The view is breathtaking, the food is scrumptious, and the service is impeccable. Highly recommend this place to anybody, you won’t be disappointed.
The food was amazing. We had the duck and the lamb and it was perfect. The souflee was the best I’ve ever had. The staff were absolutely wonderful. Considering the view, the ambiance, and the quality of the food, it’s quite reasonably priced for downtown Vancouver. Will absolutely come again!
We had relatives from England with us and they were as impressed as we were.
A delicious dinner with a spectacular panoramic view of the harbor. The triple seafood appetizer was a great mix of flavors, the main courses of steak, duck and veal were all cooked perfectly. The mushroom crab risotto was extraordinary All topped off with a delicious desert.
Lisa provided service throughout that was top of the line.
Definitely a stop for us next time we are in Vancouver..
lovely evening overlooking the harbour. welcoming service, mouthwatering menu, excellent food
One of the best meals I have ever had. Quality of food and service was outstanding plus there is a fantastic view. I wanted to return immediately for another dinner The food was lovely to look at and even better to eat. A great place for a leisurely meal and good conversation.
Wonderful dinner and excellent service. Highly recommend.
The view was incomparable. The restaurant decor is kinda faded and kind of crying out for an update. What does not need any update is the service which is kind of old school and very personable.
The seafood was outstanding - the halibut and the Dover sole were perfect.
I misread the price range on OpenTable. That said, it was a wonderful experience! The meal, view and service were extraordinary while comfortable at the same time. Would highly recommend for a special occasion.
Super friendly and professional staff. Went the extra mile to help us celebrate a 25th wedding anniversary.
Visits to the Sails never disappoints! We always look forward to the next opportunity to sample their cuisine.
My wife and I were in Vancouver for a couple of days as part of a west coast vacation. We had dinner at Five Sales based n the recommendations from Open Table. The recommendations were right on target. Of course we both had fish (my wife salmon and I had halibut) which was excellently prepared. The service was outstanding- just the rest got amount of attention. You really can’t beat the views from the restaurant over Vancouver harbor. We were lucky and had a window table but I thought no the views are great from pretty much anywhere in the restaurant. They also have a very good list of wines. Overall a first class restaurant which I highly recommend. We will definitely return to Five Sales when we are in Vancouver again.
Excellent service, great food, spectacular view. Will definitely be dining there again.
Beautiful water views, food was excellent, service was great! Great place to celebrate our anniversary!
Excellent food and service was wonderful as well. The Sea Bass was melt in the mouth and extremely tasty. My husband had a black and blue steak that was cooked to perfection. The harbor view was a stunning bonus!
Fantastic food. Top notch staffs. The view is beautiful. The owners are very hands-on (wife is managing the floor all the time and husband is the head chef). You must try this place.
Came here for an anniversary supper. Decided to do the chef's menu, with wagyu beef, and full wine pairings.
Highlights/Positives: Wine pairing was thoughtful and tasted great with a focus on BC/West Coast US wines. View is lovely, especially from the window tables. We even got a little chocolate cake with a candle for the anniversary - a thoughtful gesture.
Lows: The food, sadly, was nothing special. Maybe we are spoiled by our Michelin experiences elsewhere or even fantastic under-rated restaurants in Vancouver. But this was not memorable. The expected highlights were just average. Fois gras was flavourless, wagyu tough and chewy (a sin for such a tender beef!), and fish/seafood dishes overpowered with the flavour of onions. The waiter (didn't catch his name, an older gent) was barely comprehensible and spilled wine on multiple occasions.
Really wanted to love this place but it was not meant to be.
The view from our table was spectacular. We all enjoyed everything about the evening. We ate here on our last evening in Canada and it was a perfect end to a wonderful holiday.
Recently revisited my wife's favourite restaurant to celebrate her somethingth birthday with our two grown children. The staff made it a very special evening for all of us. The servers are generally very experienced and professional and the younger ones are being trained by the best. Lisa is a treasure.
The food is superb, and there are plenty of local options to choose from...although my son did opt for the Australian Wagyu beef special. It was so good, he had to have two orders. Smooth move, kid.
Preparation and presentation are among the best I've experienced, with sauces and sides chosen to enhance the natural flavour of the main course choice. I leave my wife and son to try new dishes; my daughter and I have found that we can't imagine anything we'd enjoy more than the duck breasts, so we just order it every time, (with seared foie gras from Quebec) and seek variety in our appetizers and desserts. This visit, I discovered a dessert called "Beautiful British Columbia," so I may only be able to vary my appetizer on future visits.
The view of the harbour is a treat on a summer evening. We were delighted to see seals playing in the harbour between meal courses (theirs and ours).
Everything was excellent. Wait staff was super attentive. Great view!
Other than the prices being a bit too high, everything else was good.
It was our Silver Anniversary. We had the tasting menu and highly recommend it. We enjoyed every course, with my wife’s favourite being the duck and mine the scallop. The service was (almost) immaculate with one late pour on a wine pairing being the only flaw. The view is spectacular. Remains a gem.
Five Sails is outstanding and superb! From the million dollar view to the mouth watering Sea bass, Five Sails is a delightful dining experience. We spent a wonderful evening with Lisa (our very attentive and personable server) while celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. Highly recommend enjoying a lovely evening of fine dining at Five Sails.
Really lovely evening and very warmly welcomed by hostess Geraldine who made us feel very special! Food delicious, wine list extensive and price range to suit all pockets!
We had a wonderful evening meal. We did the tasting menu with paired wines. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed every course.
Highly recommend everything.
The owner visited several times. She is quite simply special.
The best restaurant in Vancouver. Amazing experience. Awesome food and excellent service.
My husbands 70th birthday and our waitress presented a lovely piece of cake with a hand written chocolate sign wishing him a happy birthday. A lovely evening not at all pretentious relaxed and very friendly.
Five sails has to be one of our favorite restaurants
We’ve eaten in many all over the world . Presentation
Amazing as is each dish
For an appetizer we had an Austrian style ravioli stuffed with spinach ,herbs, ricotta cheese in hazelnut brown butter which was so light and delicious, melt in your mouth
Highly recommend dining here when you are in Vancouver
Service was bad
Thoroughly enjoyed out dining experience in this lovely restaurant. The view was beautiful, and the food and service were top notch! Highly recommend it.
Definitely attend this restaurant for a nice view and great steak! The staff was very respectful and we enjoyed our time at Five Sails for my significant others birthday.
My husband and I were treated to this restaurant as our wedding gift, it was an excellent experience! The waterfront view was great; the staffs were friendly; and the food was just out of this world. Highly recommended for anyone looking for eateries with high quality food and great service.
Fabulous! Food, service, ambience.... all perfect! Thank you!
Went for a special anniversary dinner and the staff made it even better with some unexpected additions and comps to our meal. Service and food were superburb. Will be going back at least for the next anniversary.
