Excellent dining experience with efficient, friendly yet discrete service. Relatively expensive but quality relates. Terrific setting but the ability to reserve a window table would be a bonus.
Staff, from ownership to table service was engaging and enjoyable to speak to. Tasting menu well prepared, presented with perfection with each course. Great venue for a special occasion or a reoccurring dinner.
Spent the birthday celebration here. Was super cozy and romantic. Would recommend to anyone
I've been staying at the Pan Pacific since 2003 but this was my first visit to Five Sails. It's a beautiful space with stunning views of the harbor, decorated simply but elegantly. I started with a Hendricks and tonic (with the preferred slice of cucumber) and was served an amuse-bouche consisting of a shrimp covered in sauce and a small cup of soup...I don't recall the ingredients but both were delicious. I ordered the foie gras appetizer, lobster bisque, and a 10oz Wagyu strip steak. Accompanying the foie gras was a glass of Sauternes, followed by a glass of cabernet for the steak. The foie gras was served with a terrine (yin and yang)...each was superb. The bisque was okay, nothing special. The strip steak was the highlight of the meal...to die for! With no room for dessert (alas!), I ended the meal with a cup of coffee. This ended up as a five star meal even with the (okay) bisque. The restaurant contacted me and corrected an error in my bill so the meal ended up being much more of a value. So, highly recommended for a special meal.
The Tasting Menu for Mother's Day dinner was an excellent choice. The food was delicious. Presentation was was beautiful and it was hard to destroy a work of art. Food Arrives on time. The service was superb. The family enjoyed the Dinner especially Mom.
Wow, once again!! Service, detail to fulfilling your order is fantastic! From the moment you walk in, everyone is "serving", whether it is the food, or just friendliness, to make sure the experience is meeting or exceeding your expectations. Food selection is great, quality and amount per plate are appropriate. Have been here three times...will go back again!!!!
I was seated by a window with a fabulous view of the harbor and the departure of two cruise ships.
Service was attentive and friendly - several people saw that my wants received immediate attention.
The martinis (and I am very particular) were excellent. My entire - sea bass - could not have been
more delicious. I will be back!
We went for our anniversary and had the most wonderful experience. The care and thought they put into the food and service made it so special. A favourite restaurant of ours for special occasions. Always walk away feeling wowed. Compliments to the chef for making the most incredible seafood dishes, everything popped! Plus the care for allergies was top notch
Have a wonderful night , stunning view and great food. One of the place will visit again!
One of the best restaurants in Vancouver if you want to hide or a special date the food is outstanding the service is great and the view is the best in the world
A little more of the expensive side but wow what a view of coal harbour! Not a very busy place at all, maybe cause its a little hidden treasure! Top view for sure ad it makes you feel like you're just over the water (when you're on the left side)
Celebrate birthday again. Also our top pick for special occasion
Morgan provided exceptional service. We both had the sea bass picante and it was super.
Amazing for our 23rd Anniversary!!! Love this place!
It was perfect dinner! At that time me and my girlfriend were a bit late to order course menu but they made it for us I appreciated it really!!! . Don’t hesitate either go or not just go and enjoy your dinner or lunch they will make special day for you. Also, price is acceptable no worries :)
Enjoyed the ambience. Great views. The food was good we had original decided on this location because a friend told us they had been there and had sea food tower. Try no longer do. Somewhat initially disappointing but the lobster was great and the Halibut was divine. Would definitely recommend.
Great location! Food and Service were excellent.
Quite ambiance and the staffs were very friendly.
Love the place.
We could see a wonderful view from this restaurant. Foods especially Kobe beef were great.
Excellent choice when in town. The view, food and service are all top notch. I will go back the next time I visit my his beautiful city
Excellent in every way !!
Very delicate food, excellent ocean view, very professional service.
Dropped in with my husband tonight. The view was amazing! The food was perfection, the service was incredible. We had duck, steak, lobster bisque, and multiple glasses of wine and when the bill came it was surprisingly affordable. It was a great experience.
Quiet place and has a nice view. Good location. Food is a little bit Pricey. Such a fancy restaurant.
All around terrific experience. Highly recommended
Five stars for Five Sails. We had a wonderful birthday dinner for partner, on vacation from the UK. First the view was amazing. Second the staff were top class - perfectly judged, great suggestions, lovely rapport. And the food was really good from veggie to Kobe beef ! Thanks for a really memorable meal.
Five Sails is definitely for special occasions as the view and food are spectacular. The service and presentations of food are great too. Glad we came here on our visit to Vancouver.
I went alone for an early dinner, and the food and service could not have been better (and I was lucky the spring halibut was available). Old school style and new world flavor. Real attention to detail. Just excellent.
Overall, I give it 4 stars because waitress was not very attentive. She also forgot simple requests, such as Cappuchino with dessert not after. It was a great choice for a birthday meal. Small portions, a bit pricey . I was not full at the end of my meal, but was satisfied with quality.
As always, this is a wonderful experience. The staff treat you like family and with respect. They had noted from a past visit my food allergies. I was impressed when they confirmed that with me. The halibut with fresh vegetable was moist and delicious. My husband had a venison chop and it was cooked perfect and was tender. Staff do not "hover" but are very attentive. What can I say, there is not anything to complain about. Excellent service and excellent food!!! Always
Even on a rainy evening, the views are great but are surpassed by the amazing food. The attention to detail by the staff is also great. We will definitely be back to enjoy.
Lovely restaurant and views. Not ideal for a family dinner which is probably not their audience. Excellent food and good service. Recommended for a “posh” night out.
In our opinion the best restaurant in Vancouver. On a nice evening the view is nothing short of outstanding. My only suggestion is that there could be more BC wines featured. There are a lot of reasonably good wines coming from the Okanagan valley.
We had a fantastic night. Food were excellent as well as the service was excellent. View was pretty good. We're sitting right overlooking the water and the bridge. Price was not that bad. We'll come back again. That was our second time actually. We loved our experienced before. That's why we came back again.
Good food, good service as usual!
If I could figure out how to do it, I'd give six stars. Lamb was exquisite. Sablefish likewise. Lobster bisque full of flavor.
Wow, steak was amazing, the suffle incredible. We are planning another visit to night.
From the moment we walked in, our experience was superb. Gracious and attentive service and wonderfully flavorful dishes were complemented by suggested wine pairings that made this a notable dinner. I warmly recommend Five Sails. It was a fitting culmination of our meeting with best friends for several days in Vancouver - and the weather was most congenial! Sail on!
the wine at the end is the best highlight of the meal
Truly a superb experience. My wife and I dine all over the world at the finest restaurants and this is if Michelin Star quality.
The view and ambience were magnificent.
The tasting menu was creative and balanced. A beautiful mélange of flavors and textures.
The wine parings went well with the dishes which were served a little too quickly for our leisurely pace ... but that is a quibble.
Celebrated my 30th birthday there! The service was amazing, staff extremely professional and attentive. Food was delicious, view was stunning! We’ll be back for sure!
