Our second time her. View is amazing. Food is great. This time there was an extremely loud gathering in a side room which was more than annoying each time the door opened to the room. Seriously, it was like a stadium in there.
Our waitress is very pushy. We hadn’t been seated for more than 2” when she asked to take our order, then kept returning every 2” thereafter. We were celebrating an anniversary and wanted a leisurely dinner. There were only 5 tables occupied at the time. Not sure what the rush was all about.
Good food and service, very nice place for a special occasion. Nice surprise for my wife with a birthday dessert.
Wonderful meal and venue for a special dinner with friends/family from out of province.
The food was fantastic and the view was beautiful. Great for a fancy date night.
Five Sails was impeccable from the start. When we walked in we were greeted by Gerry who is one of the proprietors and we truly felt like she was waiting for us to make our evening great. Our server and sommelier were so attentive. It was our first night in Vancouver and they had wonderful tips about the area and we had questions about the scenery outside. We were sat by the window and the view of the harbor is stunning. It’s rare that you would experience excellence in views, service and food, but Five Sails bring the whole experience. We had the chef’s tasting menu with wine and we can’t say enough about the flavors and wine choices for our evening. The amuse bouche with carrot soup and sashimi was a wonderful start and it kept getting better until the last bite. Don’t miss this special restaurant if you’re in Vancouver! Gerry brings the love and hospitality alongside her wonderful team with Sommelier Ramon and Chef Ernst. You can’t go wrong with this full spectrum dining experience.
Everything was of the highest standard and we had no complaints. The meal was the best that we had had on our visit to Canada
Beautiful views and the tasting menu was very good, especially the duck.
Excellent food as always. Had the tasting menu; highly recommended.
The views over Vancouver Harbour to the mountains beyond make this a fabulous place to dine just by itself, but this restaurant more than matches, rather than relies on, its location. The welcome from Gerry Sayers herself was warm and engaging, while the waiting staff were both hugely knowledgeable and great fun - a rare combination. And the food is gorgeous. Steak tartare melted in the mouth, while for the veggies, the signature ravioli dish was a highlight. The thought and quality behind the menu and wine list is obvious, but not overwhelming, and the whole package made for a very enjoyable and rather stunning evening.
Great view, great service and awesome food. Best meal that we have had in a long time!
Outstanding menu and presentation. Food was delicious. We did the tasting menu with wine pairing. I was with my 21 year old son. It was a very nice evening. We would do it again next time in Vancouver.
Great food, great wine, great service, great view. After a very rainy day the sun came out as we sat at our window table. We watched an amazing sunset.
This dinner was absolutely delicious. Best dinner I have ever had in Vancouver and we dine quite often, though not always fine. Not one single complaint.
Dinner at Five Sails was very good and the ambiance was wonderful. The issue we had was my wife could not do the setup that was with the halibut but she definitely wanted the halibut. Instead of offer to change the set up for the fish she was told to eat sea bass because she liked that set up. If she wanted sea bass no problem but we came to Vancouver to eat halibut. So what was the big deal about changing the set up for the fish. If everything is made fresh to order what was the problem. I guess at five sails the customer does not get what they want. The food was excellent but I was very disappointed that they could not accommidate. It will definitely give us cause to question a return visit. Also, no parking validation
Great food, atmosphere and view! Highly recommend the Five Sails!
Simply the best! Food , service ambiance 5 Sails is a delightful dining experience. Owners Sayers & chef Dorfler are top of their game & know how tomato their guests feel valued in every way!
Excellent dining experience with efficient, friendly yet discrete service. Relatively expensive but quality relates. Terrific setting but the ability to reserve a window table would be a bonus.
This restaurant is a jewel of Vancouver. The food was unbelievably delicious. All the flavours complimented each other so nicely. The service was very good and the view was outstanding. Such a wonderful evening.
Staff, from ownership to table service was engaging and enjoyable to speak to. Tasting menu well prepared, presented with perfection with each course. Great venue for a special occasion or a reoccurring dinner.
Spent the birthday celebration here. Was super cozy and romantic. Would recommend to anyone
I've been staying at the Pan Pacific since 2003 but this was my first visit to Five Sails. It's a beautiful space with stunning views of the harbor, decorated simply but elegantly. I started with a Hendricks and tonic (with the preferred slice of cucumber) and was served an amuse-bouche consisting of a shrimp covered in sauce and a small cup of soup...I don't recall the ingredients but both were delicious. I ordered the foie gras appetizer, lobster bisque, and a 10oz Wagyu strip steak. Accompanying the foie gras was a glass of Sauternes, followed by a glass of cabernet for the steak. The foie gras was served with a terrine (yin and yang)...each was superb. The bisque was okay, nothing special. The strip steak was the highlight of the meal...to die for! With no room for dessert (alas!), I ended the meal with a cup of coffee. This ended up as a five star meal even with the (okay) bisque. The restaurant contacted me and corrected an error in my bill so the meal ended up being much more of a value. So, highly recommended for a special meal.
The Tasting Menu for Mother's Day dinner was an excellent choice. The food was delicious. Presentation was was beautiful and it was hard to destroy a work of art. Food Arrives on time. The service was superb. The family enjoyed the Dinner especially Mom.
Wow, once again!! Service, detail to fulfilling your order is fantastic! From the moment you walk in, everyone is "serving", whether it is the food, or just friendliness, to make sure the experience is meeting or exceeding your expectations. Food selection is great, quality and amount per plate are appropriate. Have been here three times...will go back again!!!!
I was seated by a window with a fabulous view of the harbor and the departure of two cruise ships.
Service was attentive and friendly - several people saw that my wants received immediate attention.
The martinis (and I am very particular) were excellent. My entire - sea bass - could not have been
more delicious. I will be back!
We went for our anniversary and had the most wonderful experience. The care and thought they put into the food and service made it so special. A favourite restaurant of ours for special occasions. Always walk away feeling wowed. Compliments to the chef for making the most incredible seafood dishes, everything popped! Plus the care for allergies was top notch
Have a wonderful night , stunning view and great food. One of the place will visit again!
One of the best restaurants in Vancouver if you want to hide or a special date the food is outstanding the service is great and the view is the best in the world
A little more of the expensive side but wow what a view of coal harbour! Not a very busy place at all, maybe cause its a little hidden treasure! Top view for sure ad it makes you feel like you're just over the water (when you're on the left side)
Celebrate birthday again. Also our top pick for special occasion
Morgan provided exceptional service. We both had the sea bass picante and it was super.
Amazing for our 23rd Anniversary!!! Love this place!
It was perfect dinner! At that time me and my girlfriend were a bit late to order course menu but they made it for us I appreciated it really!!! . Don’t hesitate either go or not just go and enjoy your dinner or lunch they will make special day for you. Also, price is acceptable no worries :)
Enjoyed the ambience. Great views. The food was good we had original decided on this location because a friend told us they had been there and had sea food tower. Try no longer do. Somewhat initially disappointing but the lobster was great and the Halibut was divine. Would definitely recommend.
Great location! Food and Service were excellent.
Quite ambiance and the staffs were very friendly.
Love the place.
We could see a wonderful view from this restaurant. Foods especially Kobe beef were great.
Excellent choice when in town. The view, food and service are all top notch. I will go back the next time I visit my his beautiful city
Excellent in every way !!
Very delicate food, excellent ocean view, very professional service.
Dropped in with my husband tonight. The view was amazing! The food was perfection, the service was incredible. We had duck, steak, lobster bisque, and multiple glasses of wine and when the bill came it was surprisingly affordable. It was a great experience.
Quiet place and has a nice view. Good location. Food is a little bit Pricey. Such a fancy restaurant.
