Walk-in's always welcome! Screen Door is a restaurant that presents itself as a love letter to the American South and the revival of regional cooking. Each day, the restaurant receives natural, local organic meats and produce from nearby vendors. The inclusion of regional Pacific Northwest ingredients into a menu of dishes developed in the south has created a unique flavor profile in Screen Door's menu. Many of Screen Doors dishes draw their inspiration from Louisiana and the Cajun cooking that's found there. These include our world-famous fried chicken, Lowcountry shrimp and grits, smoked andouille chicken gumbo and fried okra. Other items, like the house-smoked beef brisket and braised pork shoulder, come straight from the state of Texas. The rest of the South is well represented as well with a Carolina pulled pork sandwich, chicken and waffles, crispy fried oysters and a pimiento cheese & sausage biscuit sandwich with a fried egg and cheddar grits.

    We wanted to eat here during me and my friends’ long weekend trip on Thanksgiving but it was fully booked (our fault for not booking in advance) but I really wanted to try it before we left and glad to have booked it the night prior leaving Portland. All I can say is that there is a reason that it was fully booked and that a lot of good reviews were because everything was amazing. The interior, the staff, the ambiance and the food were top notch. Please do get the chicken and waffles! It’s their signature and I tried it as recommended by our server since we wanted to try different dishes from the menu and we all loved it! The spices weren’t too overpowering and it was so tender, juicy and the crunch on that skin was everything! Would definitely recommend it when you go to Portland. I hope to try their desserts next time.

    One of the recommended restaurants to try when you’re in Portland. I booked it for me and my friends because they were craving for seafood. The interior had a posh but cozy feeling, the staff were amazing and even went above and beyond when we asked her for club recommendations and she gave us a list! The good was phenomenal! We ordered dungeness crab and artichoke dip and wished we had more pita chips because that was a good way to start the meal. For the mains we got the Jake’s Famous Étouffée as I’ve read a lot of rave reviews about it and all I can say is that it deserves all the hype because it was sooo good! We also got the Seafood Fettuccine and it was equally amazing! We enjoyed all the food we got and actually finished everything! Would highly recommend going here.

    Great food and staff. However the 3 percent upcharge before tip is lame. It’s a work around for the restaurant. Also like many restaurants the ambient music is too loud. Makes it hard to have conversations.
