One of the best meals I have had in Vancouver in years. Delicious food, great style and service.
Superb beet salad, lovely presentation, tasted awfully good;
however the much acclaimed duck breast was ok but had too many elements, overworked and fussy.
The sablefish was cooked perfectly but again, the white sauce is too heavy for the delicate fish.
Nice glass of Canadian Pinot Noir, very good service.
This was an experience I will remember and think about for a long time. Time, taste, colours and textures were in harmony, including the creativity of presentation - if I could afford it I would eat here once a month just to not forget how great food and drink can be.
Food was delicious but service was a little lacking. They forgot one of our dishes and by the time they remembered we didn’t want it anymore.
We went for the good politics of the food - locally sourced, sustainably harvested, healthy - and were thrilled by the excellence of the presentation, the menu, the masterfully combined flavours. Sunday night dinner in the restaurant was warm and intimate, not as crowded and noisy as the Sunday brunch had been. Service was excellent on both occasions, even during a hectic brunchtime all staff were calm, efficient and polite. If Forage weren't a twelve hour drive from home, I would go often!
Great! Excellent service and food, very helpful and service
Outstanding food and service. Delicious and creative. The duck and the brussel sprouts are out of this world
An amazing meal as always. My partner and I went back to forage to celebrate our 1 year anniversary, as we went to forage on our first date. As we remembered, the food, ambience, and staff were wonderful. We hope to continue coming back for years to come.
Great food and service. Sat a couple of millimeters from the next table would be my only criticism.
Great meal and service
Lovely, helpful staff, prices are fair, and the food was great and tastes light. It's usually pretty loud for brunch, so maintaining conversation proved to be a bit difficult.
I ordered the Halibut Benny, and it was filling and satisfying! The halibut cakes are prepared like crab cakes, with a subtle fish flavour, albeit a touch dry and dense.
Our group also shared some toast, jams, and the house-made "Nutella", which were all quite enjoyable! The chocolate hazelnut spread was lightly sweetened, salted, and had coarse bits of hazelnut studded throughout. I took a jar to-go (yes, you get the jar with the spread) to share with my boyfriend at home :) The bread was $5 for 2 slices, though, so just a heads up!
Really yummy, fun to share shall plates
yes: bison carpaccio was excellent, perhaps a bit too salty; the beet salad was very good/excellent; the sablefish was perfect.
If you want to celebrate a special occasion or just a quiet dinner with a special friend, where food is prepared with attention and precision, this is your restaurant. My husband and I were celebrating his birthday and we found an early reservation, and I have to say - we loved the attention bestowed upon us. Our server, who has only been working there for about a month, surprised us with so many great recommendations: wonderful selections for wine flights, pairings of small plates with larger, and the dessert (oh, the dessert). The highlight of our meal was the smoked duck breast with rutabaga, pumpkin seed butter, compressed pear, walnut dukkah. It was tender, melt in your mouth deliciousness. We also shared the slow cooked salmon, pan roasted carrots, charred leeks, celery root purée, ikura and uni butter - which was unusually delicious but definitely was second to the smoked duck. We really loved the dessert: elderflower and fromage frais cheese puff, ice cream, cordial, Unruly Gin-spiked blueberries which was lovely with Muscat ‘Liqueur Muscat’ La Frenz and Vidal ‘Special Select Late Harvest’. Wow - great ambiance on a cold, rainy night. Thank you, Forage.
it's always my togo place for catching up with friends for brunch on the weekend. this visit was a bit disappointed Nov 23 2019 - time: 1130-1pm. We waited for a while even with reservation, then the menu on the table was for dinner.... we have to wait for 10 mins to find other server to give us the menu, our server seem to have too many tables and not able to take care of us as needed, and the noise were louder than normal with few babies making loud sounds and the mother doesn't seem to care... and my maple syrup was not even fill up half way and i need to ask our server for more, also waited for a long while to get other server to pay for the bill.... again, i love going there, but i have to say, this last visit was a bit of disappointment.
Excellent dinner. Prices seem to be creeping up through!
Interesting & delicious food, well described and nicely presented. It was also educational if you like learning about planning meals around what us local and seasonal. Waiter was attentive, friendly and flexible. Great experience overall.
Server was not very friendly and felt like she was rushing us out the door despite only being seated for 80 minutes.
We had dinner at Forage to celebrate our anniversary and were very happy with our choice. The cocktails, food and service were all exceptional. Forage serves its dishes family style and we found the Bison steak, together with a salad and a side of roasted vegetables to be ample for two people. Good selection of BC wines, including a fairly large selection of wines by the glass. Our only criticism is that it was a bit noisy - but we were there on a lively Saturday night and that is to be expected. A great restaurant for celebrating special occasions.
Very limited menu and not everything was worthwhile.
All of the food was so fresh and presented beautifully. Fantastic meal.
Excellent service and as always excellent food, best eggs benny ever
Forage has some of the best training servers in the city. We always enjoy the hospitality as much as the servers enjoy working there.
Great locally sourced food. Wonderful brunches! Suggest booking reservations early for the weekend as the secret is out and you may not get a table.
Anna and team. Always on point with their service
Forage doesn't seem to get the buzz it deserves. Our meal was truly outstanding. In the manner of the concept my wife and I shared dishes and I'm glad as everything was first rate. The sable fish and duck breast were world class dishes.
Delicious local farm-to-table food. Their cocktails are great and I recommend the brussel sprouts and the duck. Lovely for a date or dinner with a friend.
Staff were lovely and so knowledgeable, the ambience was calm and relaxing and the food was exceptional. We enjoyed the experience so much that we returned for breakfast.
Best meal yet at Forage. It’s always good but this time was exceptional. The three of us were seated in a cozy corner and given a most accommodating waiter. She deftly guided us and we were thrilled with the selections. A lovely experience all around.
Es war lecker und total supernett. Der Service war aufmerksam aber etwas ungeschickt (Wasser über die Hose). Und noch ein paar weitere Dinge... aber das tut der Sache keinen Abbruch. Austern: geil. Steak: klassisch. Lecker. Mega.
Traveling solo, so sat at the bar. Peter was great with drink & food recommendations. The duck chowder, tomahawk pork chop, and caramel dessert were all amazing. Not sure when I’ll be back in Vancouver, but would definitely dine here again.
A wonderful curated dining experience. Our server guided us through a voyage of local flavours.
Good food, good experience
We stayed well past 2 pm (their closing time) for my baby shower brunch. And they didn’t say a peep. Didn’t rush us, didn’t rush to bring the bill. Server was very attentive. Food was amazing (obviously). My mother - who is from Toronto- was blown away. Very impressed. Thank you Forage!
Lovely as usual
We very much enjoyed the duck chowder, but the other dishes after fell flat in comparison. In addition our server did not have an in depth knowledge of the food and it felt like they was only trying to persuade us to pick the most expensive item on the menu rather than offer real guidance or opinion.
We were a bit disappointed by the food, we were expecting it to be more tasty and delicious, and we found most of it to be lacking.
Too much going on. Food was not to our liking. Busy and crowded.
Yes! Food was lovely - locally sourced food! Would come back for sure!
We had an incredible dinner at Forage. The combination of fresh flavors was wonderful and amazing combinations of ingredients and textures as well, all presented beautifully. The extensive wine list was impressive and the server's knowledge of the BC wines was great. Our selected wines were wonderful and reasonably priced.
