The food and restaurant LOOK amazing and the staff is friendly, but the food just isn’t that tasty. We went for brunch. Cocktails were good, but the charcuterie board came without explanation and whole grain, untoasted bread. My hash had bitter watercress “pesto” that I somehow couldn’t really taste, plus a potato veggie hash without any good caramelized bits :/ The turkey sausage was also pretty flavorless. I’m convinced I must have ordered the wrong thing because the place was packed, but definitely underwhelmed.

Father in-laws birthday so wanted to take him out for a nice dinner.
Food was fantastic and the selection on the Dine Out menu was great. The option to add extras was a nice touch, especially with the duck chowder.
The only thing that took away from the experience was that the courses came too quick. Our bill arrived before we were offered an after meal coffee. It would have been better to savour each course a little longer.

This was one of the best dining experiences in Vancouver ever [I have lived here all my life]. Fantastic food, service, ambiance and incredible value [huge portions!]. I love it, top to bottom.

We came in for dine out and enjoyed the entrees and apps. I wasn't asked how I would like my bison steak cooked so it came out much rarer than I would have liked. But I trust the chef and ate it anyway. Looking back I wished I would have sent it back to get it cooked more because the middle where it was rare was chewy. Otherwise the dish was delicious. The desserts seemed disjointed from the rest of the menu. The cheese puff was quite large and rich, more of a sharing portion. And the chocolate ganache bar was also very sweet and rich. The menu would have been more cohesive if they used fresh ingredients for the desserts.

Got there early and the host was able to find a table for us immediately without hesitation. Food came quickly and it was delicious, Server was outstanding as well. Would defiantly go back to try other things on the menue

Very interesting dishes, with delicious unusual combinations. This is a sharing plate style restaurant and the dishes are brought out individually so if you have different dietary requirements i.e. meat and non meat eater together you need to ask them to bring some dishes out together. This is a sister restaurant to Bearfoot Bistro in Whistler, where we also ate. Forage has much better food and therefore value, still very expensive but most restaurants seem to be in Vancuver and Whistler

Excelent meny and well presented. The appetizer was please my, along with a salad. The roast turkey and porc was nice and moistt.

HOWEVER at $90 per person would have expected something a bit more elevated. Perhaps some interesting mouse bouche, or another course. We also felt that, as a table of 3, the platters were the same size as a table for two. . We had to ask for more aides and the salad was “limited”

Last year we had a much more “special occasion” dinner at the Market for $75 pp. so will think carefully next time.

We enjoyed a nice meal but honestly were disappointed in the quality of the service and closeness of the tables to one and other. We had to request simple things like bread or crackers to go with the excellent terrine, clean plates and cutlery for the next course and to hold off bringing the accompanying wine until the food arrived (since we were still eating and sipping the previous servings). Perhaps the wait staff just needs more training, especially about not leaning in to serve a nearby table thereby extending her backside against our table.

It would be a tentative recommendation. The restaurant is great, albeit the prices are a bit of a reach for what it is. Likewise, there was a lack of clear explanation as to what the food was made of or any real background for it. It may have been due to the christmas eve planned dinner. Otherwise, I have heard good things from other people.
I want to be clear, these are very small issues in what was -overall- a very nice experience. I like what Forage has going on, perhaps I'll go back on a regular day.

We had two meat eaters and a vegetarian in our party. It took 20 minutes to get drinks. The waiter told us it would take 4-5 dishes. The portions were large so 3 would be sufficient. We ordered the gnocchi (delicious) and the bison Saturday dinner special. The waiter did warn us that things would come out as ready. The gnocchi arrived quickly but the dinner special took 40 minutes to arrive after that. We took most of the dinner special home and essentially the vegetarian ate alone. The food was delicious but everything from water onwards took a long time to arrive so we didn’t wait for desert. Overall disappointing.

The duck chowder is pretty amazing. It is the (cream) chowder form of bbq roast duck, chinese style.

We ordered several plates including the sablefish, the beets and carrots, the gnocchi and the tuna. All of them had excellent flavors and textures. We would have preferred the sablefish to come out a bit hotter. It felt warm instead of hot when it arrived at our table.

Unfortunately we weren’t terribly impressed despite the menu trying too hard to do just that. I found that nothing much appealed from the over complicated descriptions on the menu and the food was underwhelming. Our server was friendly and helpful. I love good food and search out local whenever possible but sometimes less is more.
