We are a bustling neighborhood restaurant in the heart of north loop. We are one of Austins oldest farm to table concepts. Our menu is foreign in style, while domestically sourced. Our menus change with the season, farm availability, & on chefs whim. Join us for our nose to tail tasting menu nightly if you appreciate whole animal usage. Our wine program is aimed toward biodynamic natural small production wines. If you'd like to have pre or post dinner cocktails, our awesome neighbors include the tigress bar & drink.well.
Please note that we have a 15 minute grace period on reservation arrival times. Should you find yourself running late, please give us a call or the table may be released to a waiting guest.

($125pp). Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free menus options will also be available. Please make a note at the time of booking of any dietary restrictions.     You cannot beat happy hour at this place, especially on Tuesdays. I plan to go at least once a month. The staff are so friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is great right down to the music. Great for yuppies, hipsters, and aging punks alike!

    Place is small, the food is really, really, really good. Don't forget to try the popovers. We stayed outside, noise from the road was moderate, space inside is very limited.

    Had reservations for 7:00 and when we showed up were told to wait outside — it was chilly — without much explanation. Had to search for someone to take a drink order. We ended up waiting for more than 45 minutes, and it was explained that they had too many 7:00 reservations. When we were finally sat they were still swamped and took a while for food to get delivered. Food was OK, but experience affected by too lengthy delay.

    We've been to several restaurants since covid and seen what the culinary industry has struggled with. Quality and service have been subpar at so many of our original favorites and new opportunities that we have relied on our own cooking abilities to provide the meals we longed for. F&D has been the first restaurant to reinstate quality, flavor, excitement and all of the things that make a restaurant great. Bravo to the F&D team. Hold your standards and continue to be among the best Austin has to offer.

    Not the most extensive menu in the world, but it had a lot of diversity and many interesting items. If you are into offal (I am not!) they have a special tasting menu of various organ meets. They do have a good size wine list, but the entries for each wine are often terse and cryptic.

    The food was one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life but the restaurant was freezing - I asked them to turn down the air multiple times but didn’t really change and other diners around me were complaining to themselves as well or running to their cars to get jackets - very uncomfortable to be that cold throughout the meal!!!

    Yet again, Foreign and Domestic exceeded expectations with incredible service (thanks John!) and food that makes the diner feel special. My parents visited from a small town with few dining opportunities and felt so special to eat such excellent food with kind and personal service.

    The food is always consistently incredible! We had the Babette Steak and the Short Rib pasta - both tasty and unique. Service was impeccable - wait staff are knowledgeable and share their expertise in a friendly approachable way. Noise levels inside are high, you are getting a close up view of a busy thrumming kitchen (which can be great & fun (just depends upon what you’re looking for!). Don’t skip the ice cream - scrumptious, especially barley milk & pistachio.

    The food was good as usual but we found the waiter to be a little odd with his aggressive body language and trying to involve himself in our family birthday brunch conversation. I mentioned it was my daughter’s birthday and wanted something special when I made the reservation but nothing happened. A little disappointing but we could see that y’all were busy.

    We absolutely loved our experience here! We had seen it featured in Triple D and wanted to check it out and if exceeded our expectations! Happy hour during the week from 5-6:30 is super worth it! Half off appetizers and glasses of wine. Popovers and gnocchi were outstanding! We loved the cozy vibe and being able to watch the kitchen. Service was great! Will definitely return!

    Parking was a challenge. Their handicap parking spot does not meet city code. So you could not get your vehicle in. The noise level was extremely loud that I could only talk to the person next to me. For the level of exotic food prepared I would’ve expected a much larger wine selection.

    Foreign and Domestic continues their o set the standard for fine dining in Austin. They do it without fuss or attitude. They put the customer first and always put out a creative and great tasting menu. The vibe is all about intimate dining in a small neighborhood where you feel welcome.

    We've eaten here multiple times before, but not for some years (we live 35 minutes away). Chose it for our 26th anniversary and had a wonderful experience. Excellent food and service, great value for this level of quality, and a real sense of hospitality keep this restaurant among the best in Austin.

    We had a spectacular brunch at Foreign and Domestic, and felt extremely well taken care of by our server. Per his recommendation we tried the F&D Benny, which was our favorite by far, with okra and tomato pairing deliciously. The crepes and coffee were also great.

    I really wanted to give these guys five stars because I read all of the reviews and saw that they were highly recommended. I travel around the country and dine at local hotspots that are highly rated. I greatly appreciate what chefs do, their culinary creativity, their expertise and how much effort goes into menus and the execution. Unfortunately, last night was a bit of a miss for me. My pear salad came out right away with the popovers. It was wilted, soggy or both. Maybe it was old spring mix, not really sure. I also realized after about 35 minutes my sparerib campanelli dish was missing and I had to flag my server to hunt it down & found out it that it had somehow been overlooked and my order was never placed. The time I received my main dish was at the 50 minute mark. I wasn’t very hungry anymore, as I had polished off my popovers and most of my wilted salad. The Campanelli spareribs looked amazing when they arrived. For such a highly recommended restaurant I was really hoping that the pasta was homemade and realized it was not. Yikes, the spareribs were like butter tender but were sooo way over salted. I had a few bites of my dish and couldn’t eat anymore. I was so excited but ended up disappointed. I’ve often found as a solo frequent foodie & traveler the lone diner is not treated as a priority and often forgotten. I don’t doubt that this is an excellent dining hotspot, but maybe it was just an off night for me.

    Great brunch spot! The popovers were crunchy and soft. The Eggs Benedict were bizarre (in a good way), and the 44 Farms Steak and Eggs was perfectly prepared. Topping that off with a great mimosa made for an excellent Sunday morning.
