Frankie's Italian Kitchen & Bar
Frankie's my go to when we're in town for a concert or game. I know we'll be fed well & looked after. Consistent great service & great food, love it. Enough options for everybody.
Tim was an excellent waiter. He was knowledgeable regarding menu choices and attentive to our needs. The selections on the menu were varied enough that there was something for everyone. Our meals were excellent. The tira misu was sinful and supremely delicious. If we ever get to Vancouver again a return visit will be on our list.
We ordered fried calamari. It was tough to eat. Probably, it was reheated product not freshly made. Next we ordered "catch of the day" fish dish. It was supposed to be fresh tuna. Smelled very fishy. Obviously it was not catch of the day. It was caught few days ago but served as fresh. All in all it was extremely disappointing dinner. Do not recommend this place even to my enemies.
We were unsatisfied!! The food was cold and no plates and drinks were watery
We had a group of 6, and we all ordered different entrees. All were great. Nice atmosphere and excellent service.
Don’t order the risotto.
Some of the best Italian food I have EVER HAD. Lasagna and shrimp scampish was unbelievably delicious!
Tasty food, excellent service and pleasant atmosphere
We always have a great time whether its before Whitecaps games or going to shows at the Queen E
We loved the location of the restaurant as a pre theatre dinner option however the food was below the quality grade of what we expected for a lovely restaurant. Food was served cold, dry and lacked flavour. We ordered 3 appetizers, the lamb and a pasta dish all were average at best. The city offers many better Italian restaurants.
I had made reservations for 18:00 in the restaurant part. We.were a bit early and even though we said we had reservations for the restaurant, they seated us in the lounge area. The service was so slow and the waitress appeared to be very inexperienced. The quality of the meal was pretty good. Then I got a notice that we did not show up for our reservation. Not impressed!!!
I am not in a hurry to go back. It is to bad as I used to dine there frequently when I was travelling to Vancouver a lot back in the mid 2000s and had some excellent meals and the service was great then.
Celebrated our 43 anniversary dinner at Frankie's. We had a young excellent server and a delicious meal. When we are in Vancouver we always make an effort to have one dinner at Frankie's and sometimes stop to enjoy the jazz bar.
We had booked a table but we were early by 30 minutes but no problem seated right away. Our waiter was a bit too busy so we had to flag him down a few times to get our wine or give our order. However, he was helpful and the food was very good. I had the RIGATONI SALSICCIA and the other two had CASARECCE BOSCAIOLA. One important point - they took food allergies seriously and with each dish, the server confirmed the allergies. We ate with confidence. The food was very nice and flavourful. The organic lemon mousse was perfect.
We often have dinner at Frankie's after our visit to the book show.
We have been to Frankie's Jazz Club next door and it is fun.
Good dining experience. Waitress was very attentive. The wine cellar room was perfect for a romantic date with my husband .
Great music performance and nice food! Friendly staff and great sound quality...
I brought my teenage daughter and her friend's to Frankies before going to a concert at Roger's Arena. One of the girls has an allergy to tomatoes and our server offered to adapt many of the dishes for her. We had pizza, pasta and salad, as well as the calamari appetizer. We all enjoyed our meal. We will keep Frankie's in mind before heading across the street for a concert or hockey game.
The server was nice, the bar manager who brought out our drinks was horrid. Honestly, my wife simply asked for sweet-and-low twice nicely and he stared her down. I asked him what was the matter and gave him the chance to reverse course, but he actually dug in accusing my wife of having a bad attitude. He actually said, “I’m not your slave.” The manager offered to pay for our meal, but made no offer to remove the offensive server. We left before ordering dinner. It was the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had.
Drinks took forever, “Nonna Maria’s Lasagna” tasted frozen and re-heated. Sauce was too sweet and non- Italian music was a disappointment. Bummed
Frankie's food is hit and miss. The server was excellent though. She was very pleasant and efficient. The food is just "ok", nothing special. The price is very reasonable for Vancouver. If you are attending a concert at the Queen Elizabeth theatre, Frankie's is a great choice:it's very close and the service is fast.
Had an excellent dinner prior to attending the Dylan Cramer Trio concert at the Jazz club.
Our entrees--marsala chicken and the boscaroil pasta--were perfect choices and paired well with the Gehringer Pinot Gris. A very professional server made for a perfect pre-concert dinner.
Great venue and quick service before the football game. Highly recommended.
Great menu excellent food and they brought us a cake out with a candle in for our golden wedding anniversary nice touch
The service of the waiter was excellent (from Amsterdam).
Very good food and service. Limited mixed drinks. I ordered 4 they didn’t have before settling on a margarita that I could have done without. We enjoyed hearing the jazz from next door while dining. We hope to be back!
Food was great. Casarecce a perfect dish. Diners should know restaurant has no bathrooms. Must use the restrooms in hotel next door.
We enjoyed our visit so much the first time we organized a second visit immediately! The staff were efficient and friendly. Our waitress was helpful with questions about the menu and when it came time to fumble our way through the payment process she was ever patient! The atmosphere is nice; candle lit and warm. The bread at the start of the meal set the standards high and the meal continued to meet those expectations.
Wonderful food and service
They didn’t have my reservation and the hostess were rude. We were celebrating our anniversary and they stuck us around a small corner table. The food was good and our waiter Stephen was exceptional.
Staff was very good and made sure we got our food in time to get to our show at Rogers Arena , everyone enjoyed their meal. Our table was ready when we arrived and we were happy with our service and meal.
We were very grateful they were still able to seat us as we were travelling in traffic. After finding parking we were 45 minutes late. The service was quick and efficient. The waiter was a bit sharp when I told him we were going to Bryan Adams. But the food was good and better value than going inside the arena.
We went before a concert and the restaurant was pretty busy. I was excited that they had gluten free pizza available. I had their featured sausage pizza (gf). It came very small, ultra thin and the sausage was flavourless. The toppings were ridiculously sparse. Another diner at our table had the regular version of the sausage pizza and remarked that it was forgettable. My hubby ordered lasagna and he too, was quite disappointed. For an Italian restaurant we expected more of these types of dishes.
Great food, fair prices. A bit loud and the lighting too bright for a relaxing dinner. Server seemed nervous or distracted, taking away from the experience.
We were there with family for dinner the food was good our server was training another staff member.... and he was a little over bearing and not in a good way!
We have dined here before we had a better experience!
Service was very fast, as we had to go to an event. Polenta fries were very bland, lacked seasoning. Server took them away without hesitation. Risotto and gnocchi very tasty. Fresh bread with balsamic and oil was excellent. Will go back to spend longer and enjoy more complex food.
So convenient for pre dinner before going to Rogers Arena
I booked a table through "Open Table" and requested a patio table. Our table on the patio was ready for us when we arrived. It was a cool evening so the staff brought us blankets. There was 4 of us and we were all very satisfied with our meals and the service. I had the lasagna and my husband had the rigatoni and they were delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will go again.
After calling to advise we'd be a half hour late for reservation (traffic issues coming north from USA) the staff couldn't have been nicer! When I mentioned we were now running a bit late for a concert our meals were expedited without any fuss! Good foodn friendly attentive staff! We'll be back!
We have dined here before. We have not had a bad experience here. And its ideal location for our evening out with Paul Simon made it an overwhelmingly easy decision this time. Highly recommended. And do not miss out on their excellent wine list.
Fabulous service with delicious food. I highly recommend the veal Parmesan.
Very good service. Food was excellent. Location was perfect for us as we were going to Rogers Arena for a concert. Not impressed with lack of parking.. city of Vancouver has not much available for people coming from outskirts where there is no sky train.
