    Freda's is a special place. Locally owned and a "neighborhood gem." We had such an enjoyable evening -- excellent service, great food, and a good choice of wines. The mahi-mahi special and blackened redfish were particularly good, as was their mushroom risotto. We had a great time and I hope this restaurant is around for decades to come.

    I had my birthday celebration there for a party of 15 and when I arrived, they had the private room set up with the long table with everybody’s placements ready. My party was running a little bit late, and they did more than they possibly could have to accommodate for us. The drinks and the food were absolutely so tasteful and definitely worth your money. The service there was quite exceptional. We had two waiters helping us that night, and they were absolutely adored. I had the best time with my friends, and we all enjoyed a nice birthday dinner.

    We had dinner here to celebrate our 42nd anniversary and it was great. We've been coming here for years and have always had good food. Carlos, our server, was excellent as always. The snapper with mushroom risotto was delicious as was my wife's pine crusted trout. The appetizers are always good too. My wife loves a good crab bisque and the lobster crab bisque was excellent. We tried a new (to us) dessert of cheesecake with brulee topping that was a good size to split between the two of us. Their decaf coffee is delicious. Strong flavor without bitterness. It's also nice that this family owned and run business actively participates in the running of the restaurant. We look forward to our next visit.

    My wife and I dined with another couple for a friendly get-together prior to holiday. Greeted by friendly staff and seated promptly. Jaycee, our primary server, was very friendly and helpful in providing information about menu items, including specials for the evening. Passed on appetizers and ordered Caesar salad and house salad which were enough to share. My wife and I both ordered the pine nut crusted trout accompanied by mushroom risotto and asparagus. very generous portion and delicious flavor. Our friends ordered the panko crusted catfish/coconut shrimp and the Gulf coast paella and they were very complimentary of the choices. Very attentive wait staff and they were very courteous as we prolonged our stay to continue our conversation. Excellent, enjoyable evening. Thank you, Freda.

    Our go-to place for date night and other special occasions. Never disappointed. Service is consistently pleasant and professional, never over bearing or rushing the way some of the “big” names are. Hands down the best fish preparations we e ever had, and we’ve lived and eaten from Seattle to San Francisco to New Orleans to Boston. We love this place

    Our server gave us spectacular, professional service. The food was well prepared, well seasoned, and the presentation was beautiful. One of us needed a simple, low seasoned meal because of an upcoming medical test and the dish came out just as requested.

    Consistently outstanding seafood. Last night we tried tilapia and trout. Excellent. Server was attentive but not intrusive. Everything came out on time, we never felt rushed. Great value and food without the pretentiousness of some of the big name steak houses

    Came for our anniversary. We've been coming to this beautiful place since it opened @ 21 years ago. Wonderful food, great service, romantic atmosphere. Our favorite restaurant! The blackened red snapper is just the right spice and cooked to perfection. We both love the seafood gumbo. My husband is always torn between the steak and the seafood...this time he had the paella and it was wonderful. Highly recommend Freda's anytime!

    The great reviews drew us in. We were warmly welcomed and seated and then forgotten. I finally asked someone to get our waiter, who was very apologetic and admitted he forgot us. Service improved from there. Small wedge salad was good; crispy bacon and excellent dressing. My ribeye was a bit too rare, though I ate it, anyway- good flavor and tenderness, as it should have for the price. Twice baked potato was dry and unremarkable. Corn bread was good. Overall, it was a good experience, definitely not great.

    We had the private room. It was spacious and separate from the rest of the restaurant. Jack, our server, was courteous, friendly, attentive and professional. The food was perfect. First time there for a few of our group and they were impressed. We'll be back.

    I've been here twice before and never been affected by my fish allergy, but something in either the salad or starter made me sick, but that is just one of things that made this a bad meal. The table was dirty, and the sever being rude did not help. All the food came out cold, dry, and the taste was bad. The only good part was that the piano man came over and did some magic tricks for the kids.

    Ambience was very nice inside with live piano music, romantic evening lighting and decor. The wine was outstanding and my husband says his Mexican dinner was excellent. I ordered the crab legs. It was overcooked and very dry. A big disappointment and it was definitely not worth the money. Will I go back? Yes, but will not order the crab or lobster again there.

    Our visitors are from tidewater Virginia and love seafood. They were blown away by the quality and variety at Freda’s. Salmon,tilapia, trout and shrimp and grits were outstanding. Great value, excellent food, perfect service.

    It was our first time eating here. My husband and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. The service was great, our waitress was great! They even surprised us with a dessert and champagne on the house.

    Freda's is our go to place. We love Freda's for special occassions, but it doesn't have to be a special occassion to enjoy the delicious food and incredible service. As always we had a most enjoyable evening.

    Sadly the food was not that great. My husband's wedge salad was just ok, not enough dressing, the scallops were cold and not quite cooked right, and the sauce was INCREDIBLY salty. Same with the sauce for the red snapper. The grilled bread was very good, though.

    I had the pine nut crusted trout. My wife had the mango tilapia. Both tasted great. Reservation is what is expected, the table was ready and seated on time. The waiter was in good natured.

    The hostess was very nice and welcoming when my family and I arrived. Once we were seated and waited by Paul, everything went downhill. He spoke to us in a condescending tone and instead of actually listening to what we were asking for he’d rudely speak over us like we didn’t know what we were talking about. On top of that we had an 8:30pm reservation and we were rushed with everything cause they closed at 10pm. I asked for a mango margarita with chili on the rim and he says that’s the cosmo. When I got the drink I saw that it was not so I sent it back and he gave me an attitude when I requested he bring me what I asked for. He still just brought me back a regular margarita with salt on the rim cause he refused to listen to what I ordered. I just said forget it. The only thing we really enjoyed was the cornbread. The food was rushed and horrible. The gumbo was not good. It tasted like flour and no kind of flavor of gumbo itself. My sister ordered the catfish and shrimp etouffee and the sauce tasted the exact same just not taken as far for the darker rue they used for the gumbo. I ordered the New York strip and shrimp and it had no flavor whatsoever. The twice baked potato was rushed and made very poorly. The crab cake was unseasoned. The price we paid for the food did not match to its worth. We came here for my sister’s birthday and they brought a crème brûlée that had been refrigerated with super burnt sugar on top. Very underwhelming. I see why everyone eating there was leaving with a to go box. When the food is good there should be no need for a to go box. This was our second visit to this restaurant and I doubt we’ll plan on returning anytime soon.
