It was my boyfriend birthday and he got his birthday dessert like I wanted :-) The service was great and friendly and the food came very quick. The host even went with us to take pictures of my boyfriend and I

The food was good but I wasn't blown away. Given the price and small portion sizes, I'm not entirely sure I will return. However, it was nice ambiance and the service was very good.

Everything we had from the menu was fantastic. The Family-style service allows you to try multiple things in one meal. The service was amazing, every person that brought a dish to us was knowledgeable about the food they were serving, including the chef's recommendation on how to eat it. The kitchen was able to work around any allergies and warn us about any dishes that might not comply. The bartender did an outstanding job, each cocktail was better than the last. The music was just the right volume to keep the noise from other tables down while allowing the conversation at our table to continue uninterrupted. Overall an absolute highlight of the trip.

We were very dissapointed with the service we had specifically told our waiter when we were seated that we wanted the food right away since we had to leave within the hour we had a show to catch .
45 minutes went by and still no food basically we ended up getting all our food to go and didn't eat any of it in the restaurant.
They should have been a lot more attentive to our time constraints for the amount that we paid for takeout!!!

Was in town visiting from Washington DC, we made reservations a week in advance. As soon as we stepped in we were greeted and the waitress were great. From the beginning to end everything was amazing.

I went to Fring’s for my 1 year Anniversay! It was amazing down to the food which at first I never really understood the menu, but that’s where our waitress came in she knew everything and navigated us through the menu thoroughly. The atmosphere felt romantic dimmed lighting, with loud modern music, felt like a DJ was in the corner amping up the restaurant vibe. The service was on point and they were soo accommodating when we wanted to switch tables, despite all the reservations they had that night! I can’t forget the person at the front door who opened the door for us and everyone when we arrived and left, I felt bad for him it was really cold that night! Overall amazing, amazing, amazing, If you haven’t already been there Goooo!!!

Thanks Fring’s

TJ

Fabulous experience! We shared four dishes. The Kale Caesar is to die for! We then had the salmon, shrimp, and tacos. Every dish was amazing.

Loved the food and loved the decor. Fun spot for dinner or appetizers and drinks. Guacamole is a must, so is salmon tataki, 'cheese burger' spring rolls and fries with truffle oil. I will have to return to try the desserts.

Enjoyed my night at Fring’s. Went for my birthday dinner and opted for the chef’s menu. Was able to sample three dishes. I was even able to try a desert. They didn’t sing happy birthday which helps avoid the embarrassment and attention, but they did light a candle and told me happy birthday. And they garnished the plate with a chocolate happy birthday. I even tried the Aubrey Palmer drink which I loveddd!! The waiter George was very nice and provided awesome service! Was very pricey for two but I enjoyed the food and would return

Food was delicious. We were seated in the basement and we feel that although it was decorated nicely, we misssd out not being on the main floor where all of the action was.

We very much enjoyed our first visit to Frings. It was a special birthday for my husband and the experience at Frings made it that much more special. The food was amazing. We both had the butternut squash soup and it is the best either of us has ever tasted. My husband loved the oysters and octopus and we both really enjoyed the miso grilled salmon. The monkey bread was not a disappointment! (We were told that it is a must for dessert). Service was very good and the ambience was energetic without being too loud. We found the temperature a bit chilly but it did not hinder our good time. On my reservation form many weeks ago I mentioned we would be celebrating my husband's special birthday. I was so impressed that the restaurant actually read this and acknowledged the occasion with a special dessert and candle. I didn't even remind them. Great job!

The restaurant surprised us with some sorbet as it was our anniversary. It was a wonderful touch, however I must say that the food wasn't nearly as good this time. The Brussel sprouts were bitter and we only took a few bites and the short run had a weird taste that wasn't there before. A new chef in the kitchen maybe?

Susur’s food was as good as expected but the service was abysmal. Forced to wait too long to be seated despite having a reservation. Bartending was poor. Cant make a basic whiskey sour. Service during the meal was all but non existent. Staff are young and eager to please, but have no experience. For the money, there are FAR better venues equipped to respect my valuable time and business with appropriate service.

We had the best time. Started off with the bartender mixing drinks table side. Food was excellent. The pumpkin soup and grilled octopus were tasty. I recommend the Chef order. Our servers were super attentive. I’m Still Stuffed!! Try it!

The food was good. Service was below average. It was fast paced and our courses were brought without clearing our table of the empty dishes. Dishes and cutlery never changed! It was a rushed meal! Didn’t enjoy the overall experience of a Sur Sur Lee restaurant like at Lee’s or Luckee.

Food was delicious & good portion size. Cocktails were also very tasty...easy to sink a few!
Great buzzy atmosphere & upscale vibe. Very good service, friendly & polite.
Only slight downside is the tables for 2 are quite packed closely together which disrupts the date vibe slightly - but overall a great experience & would highly recommend!

My wife and I loved Susur Lee's other Toronto restaurant, Lee, and were hoping for a similar experience at Fring's. We are also huge Drake fans and basically have the attitude that he can do no wrong. My wife has celiac disease and eats a gluten-free diet, but this is rarely limiting at upper-scale restaurants where the waiting and kitchen staffs tend to be better trained and where food is cooked to order. Nonetheless, this aspect of our dining experience tends to frame our overall enjoyment. First and foremost, the dishes that we did order were delicious and well-executed. My wife had the brussel sprouts and 5-mushroon pasta, while I had the short rib tacos and chicken and waffles. We shared the prawn special. I would recommend all of these dishes. There was a live band playing jazzed-up renditions of popular r&b songs, which was a nice touch. However, the volume was quite loud and made conversation difficult. Fortunately we were able to move tables to further away from the band. Our waiter was very professional, prompt, and well-intentioned, but seemed inexperienced in dietary accommodation... understandable in general, but in 2017 this is an important part of the job and sets good restaurants apart from your typical chain restaurants. Unfortunately most dishes were made with wheat flour or another gluten product, in a way that made gluten-free accommodation impossible. This limited my wife's choices great to only 3-4 dishes on the menu, including salads. Fortunately, they did offer a gluten-free pasta substitution, but it took a different waiter from our own to point that out. As much as we wanted to love this restaurant and were very satisfied with the food that we did eat, I was left disappointed with other aspects of the dining experience. Bottom line, we should have called ahead to see if is the menu was for us. Better service staff preparedness/education would have also made the difference.

Excellent food, very good mixed drinks (if a tad weak for the price), rushed service (constantly trying to remove unfinished plates and drinks) , hard sell on mixed drink cart, don't sit directly under a speaker unless you wish your eardrums to be pierced. Young hip atmosphere. Worth a return visit for the consistently delicious food.

The resturant was decorated beautifully and had a great atmosphere. At the higher price point and smaller portions the dishes were suprisingly substantial and every guest left feeling full and satisfied! The shareable concept of the menu was fun and allowed everyone to taste more dishes!

The Food was amazing and probably the only good part.
There was a weird vibe in the restaurant the whole time we were there.
we were seated right away and the server who we had was nice and prompt.
she got us our waters right away and we asked for a little time to look over the menu, she said that was fine and gave us a few tips and she would be right back.
We decided and were waiting, not for a long time when someone we think was the manager and started apologizing for the delay and asked if we were ready, we said no worries and gave our order. After that our original server came back and looked flustered and apologized for leaving us waiting and we explained it wasn't an issue we only decided a minute before.

Then while waiting for our food we decided on drinks, some one different took our orders for that.

Then I'm assuming a supervisor pulled someone from the wait staff aside right in front of our table and proceeded to yell at the about a receipt which was off putting and unnecessary.

We started to get our food which was amazing, but had to wait about 30 minutes for our drinks. Our server apologized and said they would be comped, which was awesome. We decided to order some more drinks. the table ordered singles of Jameson neat-when we got our drinks there was barely a splash in the glass. we just decided to finish out food and leave

Overall the food was great, just a really weird vibe between the supervisors and wait staff that made the whole experience a little off putting.

The waiter recommended that we order 4-5 dishes. They did not balance the order, the food came practically all at once the there was too much food. I recommend 1 appetizer to share a main per adult.

This is by far the best restaurant I have visited in Toronto so far ! The portions are small, designed for sharing meal and adventures tasting. I would reccomend his restaurant for two or more. Food was extraordinary tasty, very fresh and flavorful. Pretty much everything from seafood menu I have tried was amazing. I would highly reccomend oyster shots - so decadent and fun to eat !
The decor is almost Victorian, very stylish. I liked it a lot
Service was slow though - very friendly and knowledgeable but slow ..,
Overall money well spend - definitely will come back
